  1. Amen to that. 2009 is turning into year of the delays. As packed as Q1 alone is in 2010, I would not be suprised to see even more delays on the horizon in order to loosen things up. Which of course means that AP releasing in Q2 may be turn out to be quite the bad move. Regardless, with this big of a delay so close to when it was supposed to release, I cannot help but get the feeling that this is a game with some great concepts and a great story that is probably just a technical patchwork quilt of a mess as it stands right now. After all this time and this big of a delay, what else could it be? Afterall, it was supposed to release back in Feb. for crying out loud. Now at the last minute they need 8 more months, lol?
  2. The date has been changed over on Gamespot to Q2 2010 as well. They might as well just go ahead and announce it, but I am sure Sega has a gag order on Obsidian for the time being, lol. I am just anxious to hear the story here more than anything.
  3. If my comments bother you, you could do the same. I have a funny feeling neither of us will. The internet is funny like that. I said what I said because I saw it coming up a lot. The only reason your comment bothered me is because it was out of line. Otherwise, I think your a great poster from what I have seen. The only reason I mentioned canceling a couple of times is because of what now seems obvious in that the game is likely delayed. I was merely speculating and discussing....which is what this forum is here for.
  4. You don't need to keep updating us that you're canceling your preorder. Who asked you, pal? I just mentioned it because it is all but too obvious that the game is now delayed. I have been just as excited for this game as anyone and was holding out until I knew for certain that it was going to be delayed. No need to damage control like a fanboy just because I have been looking at the situation for how it is. I still fully intend to buy the game whenever it does release. Who asked you about the status of your preorder, pal? I'm hardly a "fanboy" for the game. I'm excited for it, but you've been constantly reiterating that you have a preorder and that you're going to cancel it if it's been delayed. We get it. Unless you're trying to subtly send a message of "Well, the game has been delayed and you've lost my money now in the meantime as a result" to someone (which is really what it seems like you're trying to do to be honest). Heck, because of the volatile nature of game releases is specifically why I rarely preorder (and even then, usually only after a Gold confirmation). As for a delay, it wouldn't surprise me. When they're doing behind closed doors screenings of the game at PAX, it's a bit unusual so close to release. If the game was being canceled, they'd just cancel it. It'd eliminate the need to provide lip service for the game. If my mentioning of canceling my preorder bothers you so much, maybe you should skip my posts instead of being an ass and acting as if my saying so offended you personally in some way. I merely mentioned it in passing a few times while discussing what is going on with the game. There was no ulterior motive behind my doing so, as you are so foolishly suggesting.

  6. Boom, Gamestop has moved the date until 6/1/2010. I saw it coming from a mile away. Time to go cancel the preorder. http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDet...roduct_id=70790 *Edit- sorry Wrath of Dagon, did not see your edit.
  7. That is normally the way I have seen delays go down as well. One or two retailers will be reported to have changed the date, then a few days go by and a few more will change the date and so on and so forth until we ultimately get the official word. Not saying this is going to be the case here, but I am pretty much expecting it. They have not even released a gameplay video since about late July or so, let alone confirmed a release date yet.
  8. Quite agree on that note, I love every bit of what I have seen thus far. The only thing I am waiting to find out is when the game is actually going to release.
  9. Well, if it does release in October, it is looking like one of those quiet, get it out the door without saying a word releases that usually do not bode very well. Regardless, I think the fact that Sega is not even bothering to show the game at Tokyo Game Show starting on September 24th is a big enough red flag all by itself. However, like the rest of you, I am hoping for the best.
  10. I think it's still a little early to report sighting the four horsemen. That was a couple months ago, and I believe Sega put up the supposed Oct 6 date on their website *after* that meeting. Personally, I'm still holding out for an Oct 27th release until we either hear something or the date arrives. I do hope you are right, but with no official announcement of a hard date a week out from October, I'm not so sure. Not to mention that Sega is not even showing the game at TGS. All I am doing is taking what info we have and all signs point to delay in my opinion. If it still releases in October, I'll be buying it. As of now, though, I would rather take my money and put it on something that is confirmed. Just playing it safe (and smart) is all and that never hurt anyone, last time I checked.
  11. Well, it was obvious that something was going on and that is why some of us were getting concerned. At least we have some sense now of what that 'something' is and can conlude what many of us already have come to suspect. That we will not be seeing Alpha Protocol in October....or probably not even this year. As for myself, I'll still be following the game and plan to get it whenever it does release. However, as of now I am going to go cancel my preorder and put it on something else. No sense in waiting when I can put my money on another game that I know is releasing. By the way, anyone else get the feeling that what Sega really meant is that the game is not casual enough for a broad market appeal? Hopefully they don't ruin what could have been in the process of trying to appease Sega. Oh well, to be continued, I suppose.
  12. I quite agree. I think that the story, action, customization and the depth of c&c will be more than enough to carry this game. A very streamlined, yet deep design at the same time. In which sense, it has the makings of a very unique RPG (or ARPG, if you prefer).
  13. Here is a new hands on preview from CVG. Sounds like they thought it was fairly solid, other than not being able to explore any of the locations beween missions. In their words, the mission structure is very "rigid" because of this. Anyway, at least it's a new preview from someone that actually got to play the game and that is better than hearing nothing. Here you go- http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=223828
  14. People pre-ordering games that don't even have a firm release date yet has always confused me. When I heard that Duke Nukem Forever had been cancelled, I thought about the people who pre-ordered and smiled. Good thing there is always the option to CANCEL then, right? Not sure how that worked out for those who preordered DNF, though.
  15. Exactly. This is a discussion forum for the game, no? There are a lot of people anticipating this game who are starting to have questions arise due to the silence and no word on a hard date a suppposed month away from when it is 'supposed' to release. If you want to ignore all that and pretend like they have been upfront with us, then that is your right. However, please don't tell those of us who simply want to know what the deal is to "shut up" in a forum where we are supposed to be discussing the game. Maybe you should write long rants on an internet message board about how a game you haven't yet paid for is not yet released and how that's intolerable because you think the employees of a privately traded company 'owe' you something. I mean, it'll get you somewhere, right? On the contrary, I have already paid for it. Also, last time I checked, this was a discussion forum for the game and all I am doing is discussing and specualting on what the deal might be because I happen to be anxious for a game I have already pre ordered and paid for. Is that somehow out of line? Discussing this game is what this forum is here for. If it bothers you so much to hear someone speculating on the fact that we are being left in the dark, then just do not read what I post. I have every right to voice my concerns, just as you have every right to ignore them. However, you do not have the right to tell me to stop posting, comprende? Where did I specify that Sega or Obsidian owe me anything? I just happen to think that they should keep those who support them by buying their product informed so that we will not lose interest and move on due to not knowing what the hell is going on in a packed holiday season that is flooded with many other games we could put our hard earned money on instead. I mean, have you never heard of showing courtesy and respect to those who support you by buying your product, lol? Maybe that is an unfamiliar concept where you come from, I don't know. Then again, some people are just blind loyalists and find any sort of criticism intolerable, no matter how justified said criticism may be.
  16. That was Alppha footage, so I am guessing it was placeholder voices. At least one would hope, lol. Other than that, the game looks killer. Too bad my ancient pc cannot even run the first one.

  18. Well, it is obvious that Sega is not showing much confidence in this game....especially considering that it is 'supposedly' an October release. Everyday I see new videos, interviews, ect for many of the other games I plan on picking up in October and November, which is to be expected. Yet when I look for something new on Alpha Protocol, there is nothing. If they keep the stealth treatment up, many are just going to move on and simply lose interest. Too many other great games are releasing and have loads of info being pushed out to keep moral and excitement up. The silent treatment does nothing, but generate questions and causes interest to wane. Not trying to be negative either, as I have been anxious for this game as well. I'm just looking at the reality of the situation here, nothing more. If the game is indeed coming in October, why are we not seeing footage and hearing about more hands-on reports? Why will Sega not allow them to say anything? With only two weeks until October, why do we still not have a confirmed hard date?
  19. It would have to be gold now and be sent for pressing to be shipped to retailers, so no way this is accurate, as there is not enough time to do so by October 6th. That is just the old placeholder date. We have heard nothing, not even a new gameplay video. All we have had is a couple of previews here and there that you have to dig to find. All of this silence is not much of a confidence builder, I know that much.
  20. and Jessica Alba. Inside the big, pretty house, covered in the chocolate cake. Not so sure what to do with the pony, though.
  21. Well, it is still a new very positive preview, which I take as a good sign. Better than all of the recent silence, I know that much.
  22. An extremely positive preview from OXM-UK. Jesus, I wish I knew if this game had a hard date in October. I was thinking of canceling my preorder and putting the money on something I knew was coming out while I wait for AP, but I am just going to hang in there and wait for an official word. The game is sounding better and better. Here you go: http://www.oxm.co.uk/article.php?id=13888
  23. Yes, I have already preordered and paid it off. I am pretty sure I am going to go cancel it out here in a few days and put my money on one of the many other games I want which already have solid release dates. I'll pick up Alpha Protocol whenever it finally drops.
  24. See my earlier post. Sega did it with Virtua Tennis 2009. Not saying you're wrong, but until we hear otherwise, maybe no news is good news? Having said that, can't the devs reveal any more?? I am sure it wouldn't go any further. I actually hope I am wrong. Maybe it is just the realist/skeptic in me that is winning out here. Hopefully they will let us know something soon.
