Maybe if stills were added to it. Just having your character stand there would be a detriment to the story being told. A few nice stills added in to give a general visual vibe to what is being said would imo be the least i'd expect from such a sequence.
Yeah, just use something atmospheric as a backdrop :

The funding has picked yesterday, after the GOG announcement. There's been a noticable improvement in the update frequency and it definitely helped. Next stretch goal will probably be reached today.
-
OMG!!!1111 he's the guy behind this one?
Yeah, brings back the memories, doesn't it? First thing you see in Fallout.

How often do you get a medium more appealing, and evocative but cheaper than the current industry standard? It's almost a no-brainer.
Exactly.

@pipboy2000
High five. Agree with you in 100%. If we want firearms in fantasy world it should be only represented by magic. NO GUNPOWDER, NO PISTOLS, NO RIFLES, NO BULLETS.
You should, as the elves say, chillax. Firearms are in the game, it's been confirmed many times already.

I think it'd be a good idea to post more stretch goals once 1,8 mil. or 2 mil. funding is reached, to keep the momentum going.

Looks like Unity it is.
Personally I was hoping for Onyx, but oh well. As long they can make the game they want it shouldn't matter that much.
Though maybe Onyx as a stretch goal? Would be a shame for that engine to go to waste. I'd also imagine working on it would speed things up considerably.

I think the fact that after all these years there's plenty of people using Icewind Dale portraits for their avatars on these forums speaks for itself...

Narration is cool, but I'd like to see it with stills like in DS3 or the FNV ending. It doesn't have to be used a lot, entering very important places or before/after very important main story scenarios. Oh, and for the endings, ofcourse.
Yeah, Fallout/Arcanum ending slides would be marvelous.

I'd prefer a large painting instead of series of less-detailed sketches myself, but both could work.
-
Yeah, the idea is to make every weapon behave differently. Spices up the combat and provides more options to the player.
As for the armour - I've played one mod in BG2 that slowed down heavy armour users and while it was fine in combat, it was pretty irritating out of it (you had to wait for all those slowpokes in plate). Perhaps some other penalty would be more feasible?
P.S. Your English's good.

Great to hear Imagination is vastly underused nowadays.
-
Allow me to paint you an image.
The sequence starts, you see this :
And then you hear Kelemvor (Rodger Bumpass) narrating.
I can just imagine how good it'd be.

I prefer Vancian system as well, it brings a strategic element into the game. Otherwise it's just spam most powerful ability each encounter.
-
I definitely want to see more narrated sequences.
That said, I still generally object to sequences that take control away from the player. Narration is good for introductions, describing a region, just general setting of the table. Or even dramatic dream sequences, as Baldur's Gate did.
It'd very nice if every region you visit would get a small narrated sequence, describing the general feel of the area. Some between chapters would be nice as well.

Good to know you're interested in being a vocal part of the process. Looking forward to hearing more (or enough to make a fair judgment). Cheers.
But of course! That's the beauty of Kickstarter rihgt? It's just as much our opportunity to make the game we really want to make as it is your opporunity to tell us what kind of game you really want to play.
Indeed, and don't be afraid to go crazy and experiment!

Yes, I miss the narration too. Would be great to have it back.
Yeah, nowadays it's just EXPLOSIONS and BLOOD, coupled with Marilyn Manson music.
-
I loved the narration in Mask of the Betrayer, but I'd prefer to see it coupled with stylized art/stills rather than in-game graphics, especially since they're going with an isometric perspective this time around.
Yeah, agreed. I'd be fine even with only one still used, especially if it was very detailed. Could be a series of sketches too.

Am I the only person missing narrated sequences such as these?

They were used to emulate the Pen and Paper experience, with the narrator substituting the Gamemaster.
The aim was to let our imagination work, and I must say it worked rather brilliantly. This technique was used very effectively by Obsidian in MotB (much better VA certainly enhanced the feeling) :

Most importantly, such method is fairly cheap and quick. Hence why it was used in the older titles, but I believe it's a viable artistic choice.
On that note, bring back Rodger Bumpass back!

I don't know if we need three subforums (at this point) but having it split up into at least two - say "General" and "Suggestions" would be nice. I was thinking about this the other day too.
Yeah, it'd be nice to have at least that.
-
Subforums will come, eventually. Probably when more is known about the game.
Thanks for the update.

It would appear that the publishers are beginning to see a future where they aren't needed. The horror!
The secret fear of middlemen and hacks everywhere.
Pretty much this.
-
I think that this forum could use a few subforums, to better organize the topics and to improve readability. I'd also make searching more efficient.
Here are a few proposals :
1) Story forum, for anything related to characters, dialogue and storylines etc.
2) Design forum, containing anything concerning combat mechanics, quest design, character system etc.
3) Art and graphics forum.
4) Possibly a general forum?
What do you think?

Armour and weapon designs - a plea.

Since firearms have been confirmed, I hope we'll see rapiers too :
