Barely made it! But look at the amount of sand thingies I've killed! On my way to Nordmar, overlooking Faring.. In the night. The bubble at the back is the trapped capital. Oh well, you can't win them all.. Peek-a-boo! (Ice Golem)

This is what it looks like using ordinary DirectX 9. The only difference is that his widescreen format has cut off the top and bottom part (Except the higher resolution, of course).

Something that worries me about Bioshock is the online activation function. I don't care about it right now (seeing as it poses no problem), but what happens if I want to install and play the game in five years time and the damn activation server is long gone? Will this game only be playable as long as 2K thinks they're still making money off of it? Theoretically, they could say (after selling 2 million copies and the sales have come to a complete halt): "Close the servers, we're not making any more money!" and we'd all be screwed. Well, all PC owners at least. Xbox 360 owners could still play and laugh at us.. I don't like this new method of stopping piracy. It feels like it just got worse for me, who actually bought the damn game.

A picture diary of "A Day In the Life And Adventures Of mkreku": I went to the post office. This is what they gave me. I opened it with a knife. Bioshock! But it's so big..? Holy crap, what is that?? And who is that little guy looking out at me..? Woohoo! I got a toy! The Collector's Edition was well worth it! Guess what I am busy installing right now? :D

I just wish they would release a little more information. So far it's "We're making a game! On an island!!" and nothing else. A name would be nice.. and a community board.. and perhaps some early art designs, just to get a feel for the game.. ANYTHING!

Not enough humiliation for our Finnish friends here yet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCgrG35-3js Aahh, there we go. Sorry if it's been posted before but it's so gay and funny I had to post it.

Someone actually reported that..? Some people are just ****ing ****..

So why are you in this thread to begin with, you little troll?

Gamespot claims Bioshock on the PC is quite buggy. That's the first I've heard of that. Quite unexpected too. Source: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/bioshock...7215&page=1

It was the whole point of System Shock 2, and should be the point of Bioshock. You're starting to sound like Hades.

Thanks. Sounds just as what I am expecting. A souped up FPS that's got every reviewer in the world to jump on the big hype train. I'm lowering my expectations.

I was just going to write "Let's hope they bring back the pony-tail in this new RPG" :D They cut it in Gothic 3!! :'(
-
Bah. I had to import Gothic and Gothic 2 Gold (Night of the Raven) already so I am not worried. I'll learn (more) German if need be.
-
Woohoo! :D Although the Genome engine works wonderfully for me in Gothic 3. It only stutters when it accesses the harddrive. I can live with that.

I actually think the water looks better in Gothic 3. But I'm not very fond of that "quicksilver" effect that makes the water look like liquid metal..

Yeah, my retailer (Webhallen) had Bioshock (all versions, all platforms) listed as 24/8 when I pre-ordered. When I checked my order a few days later it said 31/8 and I almost cancelled my order because at first I thought I had ordered too late and the CE was sold out. Then I noticed all versions had been changed to that date.. But when I checked right now it says 24/8 again. Who knows what's up.

And so Peca is a Blue Jacket instead of a Leaf.. Honestly, I barely remember Peca playing for those supposedly 35 games he was uninjured enough to go on the ice. Not a big deal I guess.

Oh, I'm sure it won't be a "real" RPG according to your random, arbitrary rules. Just forget about all these new games, stop whining about it and be happy that there are old games you can play forever and ever.

Another thing I love about Gothic 3 is that arrows you shoot are real objects. If you miss, the arrow goes somewhere and stays there. After the battle you can go and pick it up again. If you hit, then the arrow will be visible on the victim until he falls down and die. After a few minutes they fade away, but since I've fired probably 10,000 arrows by now, that's probably a blessing for my system.. Examples: A jackal apparently only takes two hits to kill with my bow. Especially if you hit them square on the nose. Yes, the enemies are location-sensitive too! Ogres are a bit trickier, but being the master marksman that I am (ahem), I just place them all in his head. Notice that one of them entered his mouth.. Yummy! These guys are already dead, but what the hell.. I kill them anyhow, just for fun. They're sensitive to the head, just like zombies should be. Nice, huh? Got to love Gothic 3!

Oohh, an unaware orc scout! Gotcha! I love how this game lets you play the world as it is. No loading as you enter buildings, no "fake" windows plastered on the walls. If you see a hole in the wall, then there IS a hole in the wall. And you will be able to shoot through it! Inspecting my victim in the wartorn city of Vangard, with the king's castle in the background. King Rhobar's castle. Nice place!

What's awkward about it? Do you think that every reviewer who was under time pressure, saw the first few hours of Oblivion and then gave it a 10/10 would still give it that score after 30 hours of playing? Do you think they would have given those scores today? I don't. Most of these gushing Bioshock reviews have come after very short times with the game. Maybe the game is so short that they actually had time to play through most of it before submitting the reviews.. or maybe they all played the first 2-3 hours and assumed the rest was equally good. As in the case with Oblivion.. Since Gamespot comes last (of the three-four major review sites) and probably have had more time to play the game and they're also giving it the lowest score so far (even though it's still an incredibly good score) has me worried. Does the facade break the longer you play this game? Are there flaws that become apparent after longer periods of playing? Who knows. I'll be getting my pre-order by the end of the week anyhow.
-
A bit worrying that the review that comes last (Gamespot) is the one that seems most rational of them all so far. And it's also the "lowest" score so far. Beginning to sound more and more like the Oblivion craze where it took everyone a good 10 hours before realizing just how shallow the game really is.

Actually I retook it quite recently because SandHadesDramaQueen said everyone who enjoyed one particular type of game were idiots (I think it was in the Fallout 3 thread) and I challenged him to beat me on that Mensa test. Then I forgot to post it :D Hey, it was the only picture I had lying around that wasn't NSFW!
