North Korea: Great Country, or Greatest Country?
lord of flies replied to lord of flies's topic in Way Off-Topic
Firstly, the Frente Popular in Spain was a successful majority made up of far left elements. Secondly, this is wrong. Many first world countries have excellent workers rights and unemployment subsidies, yet the populace still works. Thirdly, Socialism is about the workers' control of the means of production, and a radical policy of social egalitarianism. The fact that it is impossible to achieve perfect egalitarianism is irrelevant to the ideology's success or failure; it is impossible to achieve perfect democracy, since people can be manipulated into voting against their own interests, there can be voter fraud, there can be voter suppression, et cetera. Does that mean that democracy is stupid? No. Further, one of the most fundamental underpinnings of the human mind is social behavior and charity, so treating others kindly without expectation is actually not going against "basic human nature." -
North Korea: Great Country, or Greatest Country?

This is true of literally everything, Jesus H. Christ. The better armed person wins in a fight no matter what ****ing society you live in. The only thing which actually prevents the government from busting down your door right now and shooting you in the head is that they don't want to. If they did it, who, praytell, would punish them? I mean, hell, let's be frank here. If ONE police officer decided to kill you or beat you within an inch of your life, there is a VERY high chance he would NEVER be punished for it. -

Nations are the dumbest bull**** anyway. Oh yeah, I forgot, Moldova and Cuba are both democratic communist countries. -
North Korea: Great Country, or Greatest Country?

No, I merely prefer a state which prevents the rise of the thuggish capitalist class. The fact that most of these historical regimes have suppressed their own people fails to remember that they did not (as modern capitalist countries do) suppress huge masses outside their borders via extremely unequal trade relations, use of intelligence agencies, military force, threat of military force, et cetera, to keep them trapped in right-wing authoritarianism. Look up the Commune of Paris, look up the CNT-FAI, then perhaps bother to learn about anarchism before you post again. -

I've been considering it, looking at various nations, and I've come to a conclusion: Anarchism is the best form of government. Within the CNT-controlled regions of Spain during the Spanish Civil War, there was a real, honest, collectivized and democratic workers' state. AFAIK, no other ideology has created an honest, bottom-up workers' state, so anarchism wins. Communism is still better than modern capitalism, though. -
Israel: Great Country, or Greatest Country?

I have, in fact, done so, but while you can pretend I haven't all you want, you can't really deny that I think I am. -

Oh no, not something that's "old"! Why, that's the most terrible thing IN THE WORLD! Most of the terrible things in the world are "ooold" (at least by internet standards), perhaps you should reconsider your position. -

I have always responded "sensibly" to your views. Do I bust into other people's threads and **** them up with zero- or near-zero-content posts? No. Even if I post something that "****s up" a thread, it's not just "tl;dr," it's something that actually portrays a nuanced viewpoint. Cool red herring bro. Enjoy your defense of one of the most blatantly racist countries in the world (not gonna say it's THE most, but I haven't heard of a country more blatantly racist). -

++ p.s Israel is a tiny, tiny country. heh, cool to see all you dudes don't read things if you know they will expose a racist apartheid state for what it is!!! and also that you understand literally **** all about the middle east, or the way in which israel has completely destabilized the whole region with its insane behavior!!! -
Israel: Great Country, or Greatest Country?
lord of flies replied to lord of flies's topic in Way Off-Topic
Here's the tl;dr version: Israel is settling occupied territory (which, by the way, is a violation of international law), treating its arab and palestinian population as second-class citizens, protecting terrorists in the united states and they are literally breaking the bones of handcuffed prisoners. -

Drawn and quartered, too... You know, you guys, you don't have to be **** to everyone who doesn't agree with you. I'm just saying, is all. Im not mad about him not liking AP. I just get really pissed off when somebody makes one post, then leaves, I get angrier when they actually say they're making one post, then leave, and I get angrierer when they join just to start dissing a game. He never said that he was only going to make one post and leave. It's not as though it's impossible for someone to post just before signing off and going to bed. -

Hi Psychonaught! Just a couple little tips: when you end up having a paragraph that's over six lines long, it's probably a good idea to find a good point to split it and hit the "enter" key. It makes it much easier to read your post, since very long paragraphs become extremely difficult to read (at least single-spaced, as they are on this forum). I took the liberty of doing it to your current post when I quoted it, to give you an example. Maybe you can't notice the difference, but I sure can. One of the big reasons I think nobody honestly responded to your post is that there were no line breaks! The other tip is that while being pissed off is completely OK, I think you need to re-examine this post and the topic. They don't really seem to go together! Your post is about you being annoyed with the apparent lack of RPG elements, but this thread is about the game's stealth! Maybe you started writing and didn't realize you'd gotten off into another topic, I don't know, but you should always make sure your post fits the thread. It's all right if it happens over the course of multiple posts, but yours just seems to come out of the blue. As to the post itself: the game does in fact have RPG elements. There are a wide variety of screen shots showing the skill screen, so I'm going to assume you mean "RPG elements" in the other way: choice and consequence. Which this game seems to have plenty of! For a major example, check out this article, which I think is pretty informative on the game's choice and consequences. They have said that you can kill people and they won't show up at the end, or that you can kill literally no one in the entire game. One post even mentions that a fairly major character (Sie) can not show up at all if you don't do a certain optional mission, since you never meet her! -

If you think China has been a communist nation since Mao died, you are functionally illiterate or woefully ignorant. "Hmm, yes, let's economically liberalize while retaining our one-party state. This is very revolutionary, going into regressive bourgeois politics reminiscent of the late USSR." It is nothing more than an authoritarian regime that labels itself Communist, much as the Nazi regime in Germany labeled itself "Socialist." -
Dialogue-only missions?

Why yes, internet poster "AlphaPro," being that the word "comrade" is a trademark of the Russian language and is not in any way meant to refer to the brotherhood of all mankind, I must therefore have assumed you are a Russian and ergo, person who I have never seen, you look Russian. -

As do I, comrade. -
Oh, good to see I'm still welcome in these forums. Anyway, went to see District 9. It was fantastic. The aliens looked great and emoted really well. The plot was interesting, kept you guessing, and the protagonist was a complicated, interesting character. They really did a good job of making a "white male in power" character, with his motivations and perspective well-created. The action scenes were ****ing A. I also liked how there was all of one empathetic human character in the movie, and he only really became empathetic later on, when The aliens, on the other hand, are almost universally empathetic characters, although probably because of their victimhood.

A bloo bloo bloo, my accountable politicians have more power than my terrorist-thug rich pseudo-aristocracy. Totalitarianism!!! Cuba is a functional democracy, anyway, even if it has no parties. However, since parties are the most incredibly dumb and idiotic extension of the political class, I don't care.
