  1. Not invested? How about the personal investment of having their castle stepped on, a sizeable chunk of their soul ripped out and, down the road, the destruction of the wheel?
  2. The Witcher games always stayed true to being 3rd person action RPGs, even if the first game's combat was a bit on the weird side. It's not quite like a jump between isometric party based rpg to 1st person action game.
  3. The watcher has proven him/herself already, can see dead people (which is more relevant than you make it out to be) and is aware of the god's true nature. Also Eothas is willing to listen to this particular watcher at least a little. Look what happens if you destroy his belief in kith at the end.
  4. Ah yes, Skyrim. Sadly it was really dumbed down from what TES once was. No classes and the faction questlines that were still pretty iconic in Oblivion were really lackluster. Don't get me started on the puzzles "we wrote the lock combination directly next to the lock for your convinience". Or every Nord falling over themselves to marry a dunmer with an amulet of Mara while previously establishing that Nords are a prejudiced pack. Funny thing but ESO of all things does this much better. It even adheres to the world's lore much better than Skyrim. Lots of great quests and stories. And you even have to stop and think for a moment on the dungeon puzzles. I meant in a more personal sense. Kind of. Eh, let's skip that. Yeah but it was also released several times on every available platform. Bethesda would put Skyrim out on calculators if it could.
  5. I hope my English is good enough to convey what I mean. Let's try. Best comparison I can make is people being salty at Bethesda because instead of developing what everyones wants (TES6) they develope and put time and resources into things nobody ever asked for like Fallout76 (or did, they're back to the Scrolls now, it seems). So it's not just a question of not buying a product, it's more complicated. Sorry if I can't quite make sense of what I'm trying to say XD
  6. I did see that tumblr post of his where he basically says he'd only direct Pillars 3 if he certainly knew what went wrong with Deadfire. Just unlikely he'll ever know for sure. Even just a release date at the wrong time could break an otherwise great game's neck. Let's see if Microdoft feels like jumping on the bandwaggon again after BG3 comes out (...or into early access even). Random thought in addition to this. Would releasing an "Eora Skyrim" or tactics game or whatever not alienate more Pillars fans? It would drive me away, I think.
  7. Eh, too bad it doesn't look like anyone wants to adopt PoE3 as a pet project. Whenever Sawyer writes about the topic, I have the impression he is kind of disgruntled over Deadfire. Might be just me though. Not gonna lie, I think I'm starting to see why Avellone doesn't like Urquhart.
  8. But the watcher is the hero who solved the hollowborn crisis, and apparently Berath's first choice for chasing Eothas (if you deny the pallid knight at the beginning of Deadfire, you just get reborn as a furry creature and Berath will find another watcher in your place). I'd say there is even more need for the watcher to get involved after Deadfire as the whole planet is at stake. I'll be a monkey's aunt if Deadfire's ending wasn't supposed to be a sequel hook. Whether the watcher is a boring character... well, that's entirely up to the player. With the established watcher we have connections to characters, gods and factions, all of this would have to be created new from scratch with a new character. This just takes time and resources away from a good narrative. Two games worth of build up culminated in a third big epic ending. If there ever is one that is.
  9. Out of honest curiosity, would there be a reason not to go to Kickstarter again for PoE3? I mean with Microsoft in the background and all that? I'm kind of surprised they're making a survival game now, especially since the market for those seems really saturated.
  10. To get the full experience from the Witcher games, you need to have played all the games and actually you need to read the books as well. You only really appreciate everything that was put in there that way. Of course, if your only objective is to "kick some monster ass lul" then story and worldbuilding isn't really important. I'm one of the people for whom that "convulted storyline" is a big bonus point. Deadfire feels like there should be even bigger things to come in the future and I love that.
  11. RtwP. For the cohesive experience across three games. I don't mind TB too much but it drags fights out for much langer than they need to be. Killing a trash mob in D:OS can take ages. I also don't give two hoots about a tactical Eora game. The strength of this world lies in it's RPG properties.
  12. Sorry for playing necromancer on this thread but it is completely out of the question that a third installment of the series should be anything other than the conclusion to the watcher's story. I mean I have some 300hrs on both games together on Steam. Of course I would want to see where this is ultimately going to culminate for this character that I honed and suffered with for so many hours. It was mentioned in this thread, that it would be better if the game plays in the future, without the watcher as the PC. Just a reminder: Eothas said that every new life will be hollowborn in a bit more than one generation. A generation, in human terms, is about 30 years long. Eora basically doesn't have that much time to solve the Wheel problem. As for characters, of course I'd want our longest standing buddies Eder and Aloth to return. Aloth especially is like a lovechild of Xan and Rincewind, what's not to like? Rekke seems quite promising. Beyond that, it's really hit and miss. I'd like to provide Vatnir with a nice position as a steward of my crazy watcher household, he doesn't seem to like adventuring too much.
  13. I only recently started to play Deadfire and came here to look for information on a third part. It saddens me that the game didn't sell well. I find the worldbuilding really intriguing and would love to see where my watcher and her friends and foes would go next. Anyway, I second the sentiment that DLCs need a new level cap. I'm level 19 right now, played a bit of the DLC content and there is still lots of thing to do that I am basically overpowered for. Full blown expansions, set after the main story, instead of mini DLC would be my choice as well. I greatly enjoy the prose and flavour texts. I think they are a necessity as we can't see the characters emoting from our top down vantage point. But then again, I was one of the 5 people who greatly enjoyed Torment - Tides of Numenera. I might be in a minority of people who like reading lots of text ingame. There asolutely needs to be spoken banter though. It's one of my favorite parts of PoE, especially when Eder gets bitten by Itumaak. Romance - eh, it's not a necessity as far as I am concerned but a minor pet peeve of mine was that everyone is bi for the watcher. I totally buy it for Tekehu and Serafen. But Aloth, who went into full "no homo" mode twice? The BG2 EE did that better, characters have their preferences and that feels a lot more natural. But as I said, that is a really minor peeve. As for age groups, I'm in the 30+ range as well. Unfortunately that is also an age where there's work and family to take care of which leaves little time for gaming. Maybe some more concessions for the newby generation need to be made, as sad as I think that is. It's better than having the genre die out. Just don't dumb it down as much as Elder Scrolls.
