  1. I have to say, Italy's playing much better than Germany. Germany's defense is relying almost entirely on Lehmann and their offensive passing is terrible. Hopefully they can pull it together in the second half. Also, this was HILARIOUS.
  2. The people who made this video rely very heavily on people not stopping to read the additional text provided with their three-second screen splashes and fun facts. E.g.: "Bomb sniffing dogs are pulled from the World Trade Center and security guards end two weeks of 12-hour shifts." Additional text of note on screen for two seconds: The World Trade Center was destroyed just days after a heightened security alert was lifted... "Today was the first day there was not the extra security." [guard] Coard said. "We were protecting below. We had the ground covered. We didn't figure they would do it with planes. There is no way anyone could have stopped that." Security guard Hermina Jones said officials had recently taken steps to secure the towers against aerial attacks by installing bulletproof windows and fireproof doors in the 22nd-floor computer command center. It's potentially problematic to consider that the security leaving had been additional security added in response to previous threats. It sounds much more conspiratorial if the standing security force was reduced, which is what many probably infer from the narrator's quote. It's also bizarre that the 22nd floor had additional security added to protect the computer command center. If this were an "inside job", it would be moronic to ensure the safety of a communications center that could potentially send out messages such as, "Hey, bombs were rigged to go off in here." or to record footage of incriminating evidence. Then there's the conspicuous absence of the date at which the extra security was pulled. The narrator doesn't mention the timeframe, but the guard in the article says that only a single day had passed. That leaves exactly one day for a crack team of demolitions ninjas to rig the entire building. Of course, the most telling indicator of massive B.S. piling up is the narrator's almost continual use of the passive voice for every conspiratorial action mentioned. Forces "were pulled". Put options "were placed". Who did this? You get dinged for this sort of irresponsible junk on freshman papers, even in our crummy American colleges. The Chicago-Tribune article quoted for almost every single one of the put option figures can be found here. Please note the headline -- which isn't visible in the video -- "Terrorist trade probe widens". The article is about how security regulators are investigating the possibility that the terrorist groups who engineered the attacks were the ones who did the options trading to profit from their own actions. The narrator doesn't assign agency to these events and excludes any contextual information that might lead you away from the conspiratorial conclusion he wants you to reach. He presents fun facts in a way that leads your mind down a logical path. But it's selective and often very misleading. Hey, if anyone wants to swallow everything this dude throws out without following up in his sources, you can believe whatever you want to believe. But this is what I believe: there is no way that the administration that engineered and ran our war in Iraq to date possesses one-tenth the coordination and competence required to pull off the amazing conspiratorial feats suggested in this documentary. Our government's IRS and Department of Education apparently can't figure out between both of them what my address is -- and they did this?! COME. ON.

  5. Frings has some extra time already. http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/060703/1/8izd.html Weakest punch ever.
  6. Check out my sweet mismatched riding gear on Cuevas' VFR.
  7. By the way, the majority of French players were actually born in France and even some of the ones born in overseas territories still grew up in France.
  8. Probably a bad time to wear my new jacket around English ex-pats.
  9. I've played Hitman on a widescreen laptop since the day I got it. No problems.
  10. I replayed New Life tonight and got Pianoman. I strangled everyone on the map other than the two FBI guys in the van.
  11. The system I wound up using for my version wasn't really much like SPECIAL, to be honest.
  12. I usually don't go for SA because I'm a stone cold killah who just takes out anyone in my way. The perfect marksmanship was on a level where I got Deranged Slayer (2 Noise, 10 Violence) and Russian Hare is the weapon-specific rating for getting a certain number of sniper rifle kills with perfect accuracy on a level. Other weapon-specific ratings are Sushi Chef (all knife kills), Pianoman (fibre wire), Blue Collar Killer (hammer), and Insane Florist (hedge clippers). Might have gotten a few names wrong.
  13. Last night I got a "perfect +" accuracy rating in the wrap-up for a New Life. I had 100% accuracy with all of my shots and a higher kill count than shots fired. The wrap up described my marksmanship as being equal to the legendary "Agent 47". I also got the Russian Hare rating on Vintage Year by sniping about a billion people from a rooftop.
  14. The rifle is tricky to use on Curtains Down because it's very easy for someone to spot you with it. Also, it's very easy for a guard to find your case and take it to the security office on the 2nd floor.
  15. Welcome to five year old platforms. Most cutting edge consoles don't have "emulators" as much as they have PC builds that can be modified to run on dev kits and release hardware. The PS3 is extremely dissimiliar to a PC in architecture, so I can't imagine that there's really that much shared between them -- especially when it comes to writing code that takes advantage of cell technology. If they meant a PS3 dev kit, why wouldn't they say it was a PS3 dev kit? I wrote that it wasn't running on PS3 hardware. I didn't write that it was running on an Xbox 360, on the Wii, or on any other platform in particular. I certainly find it plausible that the game was running on a PC. I just think claims of that being an "emulation" of the PS3 stretch my imagination too far. The whole core of PS3 technology is the cell processor. What PC emulates that? From everything that I have heard, programming for PCs and programming for the cell-based PS3 are wholly dissimilar. I think that UbiSoft makes great games (for the most part) and I think Assassins' Creed looks very, very promising. However, I think the "PC emulating PS3" line is a load of spin.
  16. Well, I definitely believe it wasn't running on PS3 hardware, which is what I suggested. "PC emulating a PlayStation 3" -- because PCs are quite similar in architecture to a PS3. Come on.
  17. It would have been even more impressive had it actually been running on PS3 hardware.
  18. Unfortunately, the demo/tutorial for Blood Money is pretty linear and not fun.
  19. Hitman: Blood Money is the fourth game in the Hitman series from IO Interactive. It's a game about a bald clone assassin with a barcode on the back of his head. His name is 47 and he kills ppl real good. http://www.hitmanbloodmoney.com/ You can run around with fibre wire and garrote folks, as usual. You can also steal outfits and use disguise to run around and do sneaky stuff like distract people and poison drinks and cakes and shoot silenced sniper rifles at FBI agents from a kid's treehouse. There's a lot to say about the game, but really it comes down to my belief that it has really fun, non-linear gameplay and one of the best final levels of a game ever. This video shows some of the cool stuff you can do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSTig7LV1fI...h=blood%20money IT'S COOL 4 SIRIUS.
  20. Cuevas knows a lot about running mocap shoots.
  21. You don't need to play the others before playing Chaos Theory. There's a little bit of background stuff that's of interest, but nothing crucial.
