I don't believe so, but there certainly could be.

Hmm. I'm pretty sure that covers all of my cut content. I can't remember any of the content that other designers cut. Durdel Anatha

Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition is on the way...

How the heck did the extra "ta" get in UK spellings of "oriented"? -
Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition is on the way...
J.E. Sawyer replied to Sand's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
I played a 2nd Ed. cleric with a heavy focus on divination that was extraordinarily effective. The DM would occasionally shield high-value targets with anti-divination spells and items, but I was able to do a lot with what wasn't protected. Between clairaudience/clairvoyance, consequence, divination, and commune, we usually built up a huge tactical (and occasional strategic) advantage. Especially for clerics, prior knowledge of what's ahead makes a great difference in what spells they prepare. -

Did Obsidian make any sort of appearance in GDC?
J.E. Sawyer replied to Winterwolf's topic in Computer and Console
A lot of us (~26) were at GDC, but no one gave any talks. For next year, I'm applying to give a talk on dialogue tools. I can't believe there are developers that still work with Excel as their method of inputting text. -

What the heck? What's so hard about using 2nd Ed. source material in 3E? Just rebuild the characters. -
It is kind of sucky, to be honest. But not enough to ruin the game for me.

Dante Must Die difficulty. The enemy is a Blitz, which causes damage every time you hit it, right after the hit frame. The player is in Dante's Royal Guard style using Gilgamesh (boots and gauntlets). The player attacks and then immediately guard cancels to block the electrical damage, shooting his style meter up to Atomic. He then Beast Uppercuts the Blitz repeatedly, while toggling Devil Trigger to increase his style even more. While the Blitz is dying, he taunts, switches to Lucifer, and throws a rose at it. Tyte.

I would think so. Other than Dante and Nero having white hair and all of the characters wearing wacky outfits (e.g. Lady and Trish), it doesn't really look like anime. The story is standard anime-fare, but I think that has more to do with Japan than anime itself. The characters are pretty entertaining, with the exception of Kyrie in the role of the Japanese-style personality-less young woman.

Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition is on the way...
J.E. Sawyer replied to Sand's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
Overjoyed? Because that's what I felt. I played 2nd Ed. for 11 years and couldn't wait to be rid of it. -
Parts were harder, parts were easier. The shmoes in DMC3 weren't too tough, but the bosses could be very rough. I just beat DMC4 on Human mode. It's pretty damned easy. If you want a challenge, go straight to Devil Hunter. I have to say I enjoy playing Nero more than Dante. I never really make full use of Dante's styles. His weapons + Swordmaster pretty much get the job done.

Then maybe you should make The Black Halberd, a mod all about how great halberds are.

I finished testing this out this weekend, and yes, you can effectively just hijack entries in the .2das. There are a few issues you have to work around in the toolset (for example, the toolset will not read in custom .tlk table entries for baseitem.2da name entries, so any that do will not show up in the toolset), but you can do it. I created new feats in feats.2da for Weapon Proficiency (Basic, Adv. Bludgeoning, Adv. Piercing, Adv. Slashing, Adv. Ranged) and then new feats for Focus, Specialization, and Improved Critical. I created custom .tlk table entries for the names and descriptions and custom icons. I then modified baseitem.2da so all the weapon types I'm using point to the new feat IDs. Then I went back and disabled all of the "traditional" proficiencies. It sure makes the level-up screen a lot less cluttered. Then I went into one of my modules, placed some of my "new" base items and ran the module. Sure enough, everything worked as expected. It will be a pain to manually add the special bonuses that each advanced weapon type has (e.g. sabres cause bleeding wounds on 10% of all hits), but nothing insurmountable or really all that troublesome in the long run. The only lingering issue is that I will have to go back to edit the baseitem.2da after I'm done "for real" modifying the weapons so the improper base item name doesn't show up in the item description. There are a LOT of deleted entries in the baseitems.2da. You can either use those for your new tricks or you can hijack ones that you're not using. For example, I just wrote over halberds with tridents. Because tridents are waaaaaay cooler than halberds.

I only play the original H -
Someone on another forum said that the demo is on the equivalent of easy. DMC3 got a lot of flak for being too hard, so I think they tuned the DMC4 demo to baby levels.
-
The DMC4 demo is now out on both Xbox 360 and PS3. It is great. For those who doubted that the "port" to 360 would be plagued by frame tearing, I saw absolutely none. It was running at a solid 60fps. The environments and characters look fantastic, the animation is terrific, and the gun/sword/arm combos are really cool.

Manning's accuracy in the post-season is a LOT higher than his 2007 season accuracy overall. And considering that Manning himself has said in the past that he doesn't like playing in the cold, it's not that surprising that people predicted he wouldn't do well against Favre at Lambeau in sub-zero temperatures. I missed the Driver TD.
-
Eli Manning had 52.5% accuracy vs. Favre's 54.3%. Wow great slam. Eli had more yards earned on his passes, but that points more to Green Bay's terrible defense than Manning being a magical QB. Burress smoked Harris over and over again. It was a bad game for Favre considering his season standings, but I think he will be able to live with himself considering he holds virtually every NFL QB record and already has a ring. I think the most frustrating thing is that all of the great plays were Giants plays. With the exception of Tauscher's fumble recovery following McQuarter's interception. Though that was canceled out by GB's Keystone Kops inability to lay down on the friggin' ball during that late 4th quarter fumble. Ugh.
-
Our offense was bad and our defense was worse. Coverage of Burress was terrible and Favre just threw bad pass after bad pass. If he retires, his last play will be that crummy interception in OT.
-
I thought it was a very good game that had a few significant flaws (lack of variety in hacking, vita chambers, some goofy plot twists/setups, some useless plasmid/tonics). But ultimately, it got a lot more right than most games do.
-
They usually are released a lot later, but I think it's often because peripherals (other than keyboard/mouse) became less popular in the late 90s/early 2000s for some reason. These games really need to be played with a proper console controller. Also, more than some other games, 3rd person action games of this sort really need a guaranteed 60fps. Playing it on console guarantees that, but it's not as certain on PC.

Skip DMC2 and go straight to the special edition of DMC3. It shouldn't be too hard to find the SE. If you have trouble finding that, just pick up regular ol' DMC3. DMC3's difficulty is significantly higher than the original game's.
