Do you really think he would've intentionally used a racial slur knowing he would be fired immediately? "There's a small chance he meant this in a racist way, we better destroy his career and reputation just to be safe."

Politics 2017 Part 3
You mean the same congress that tries to disprove global warming by bringing a snowball to the floor? Those people that are sponsored by various oil, gas and drilling companies? Yeah, that is going to end well for you. Democracy - know it, love it. To be fair, Congress didn't used to be this dumb. They've greatly limited their ability to perform oversight by cutting their own budgets, as some folks looking to "shrink the size of government" decided to start with what was most in their control. Unfortunately, that meant fewer Committee staffers (and such) who have the requisite knowledge and experience to provide meaningful oversight over very technical executive-branch entities like EPA. (There even used to be a legislative branch "Office of Science and Technology" to help Congress understand stuff. It was cut.) All that does is empower the executive branch and lobbyists (who can push agendas on legislators lacking access to unbiased expert opinions), as well as lead to Congress intervening in dumb ways rather than smart ones. By oversight I mean legislative action, for example there's a proposal that any regulation that costs over a certain amount has to be approved by Congress.

I'm pretty sure swastikas are still widely used in Asia. Fun fact, there are some in the US Senate too, a whole ornament made of them.

The Weird, Random, and Interesting things that Fit Nowhere Else Thread
To be honest, I don't get his explanation and find it weird its taken him three years to come up with it rather than make this argument in 2012 when he came under fire. The Agassi-Sampras ad that was "Guerilla Tennis" featured Agasi and Sampras blocking off a NY city road with a net and playing tennis in the middle of the street. What Adler says is that Venus Williams "...put the gorilla effect in. Charging." I don't immediately see how that ties to the ad, or can tie to the concept portrayed in the ad. That said, without further word on what "guerilla tennis" came to mean in the tennis community past the ads, I guess it is possible that there's something to it. That doesn't necessarily mean that Adler meant it to be racist though although that could also be true. When he apologized at the time he said he used the wrong word. I suspect he was wanting to use an animal that is aggressive in defending territory and charges forward and intentionally/unintentionally/unwittingly/unawaredly used an animal that had long been used to portray those of African descent as sub-human. This just happened last month at the Australian open. And "guerilla effect" was most likely a reference to her rushing the net, which is like an ambush. He apologized for "poor word choice", but only because it was misunderstood. It's too much to expect a live commentator to think through the full implication of what he's saying, and the racist aspect not occurring to him only suggests he's not a racist. Nor did anyone mention any prior allegations of racism against him; like I said, we now always assume the worst and never give anyone the benefit of the doubt.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
Thief 3 and IW seemed closely related to me, so it always surprised me people more or less liked one and hated the other.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
Fallout? Don't see the fuss about Thief, I played the first one for a while not so long ago. I liked the third one a lot better. Of course I also got bored with the original Deus Ex, but Invisible War is one of my favorite games ever. Yes, you're all free to hate me now, assuming there's someone left who still didn't.

ESPN reporter fired for being misunderstood: https://pjmedia.com/lifestyle/2017/02/14/former-espn-commentator-sues-after-being-terminated-for-venus-williams-gorilla-remark/ Why don't we give anyone the benefit of the doubt any more? And it strikes me it's ESPN who's racist here.

It's out of control, doing whatever it wants. Doesn't need to be eliminated, but needs to be brought back under Congressional oversight. Legislative functions belong to Congress, not the executive and his agencies.

Deep state continues to try to smear Trump by illegally leaking classified info, pretty obvious they have nothing on him yet: And even the tweet you posted shows that NYT is lying, Trump said he hoped that if Russia stole the emails, it would release them, not that he hoped they stole the emails.- Politics 2017 Part 3
Paul Ryan is ahead of him. Then President pro tempore of the Senate, whoever that is.- so-called court of appeals ruling
That's not what I asked. Reread my question if you lack reading comprehension. Not having to discuss stuff with you isn't exactly a punishment, so like I said, stfu.- so-called court of appeals ruling
I don't know of any misleading Trump tweets from feb 11. As I said before, if you got evidence, show it, if you don't, stfu.- so-called court of appeals ruling
I guess you have some information that new refugees are being admitted and new visas are being issued?- When Piers Morgan is the voice of reason....
I guess Piers doesn't want to get deported, so he came over to our side.- alternative facts

I don't even remember referring to someone in the media as Stalinists, I usually refer to them as Democrat operatives. As far as education, quite a few of the more radical professors are Stalinists or at least lean in that direction, even though I don't remember actually talking about them either. The running joke is mostly because of KP's usual trolling btw.- Politics 2017 Part 3
Legal immigrants commit less crimes because they're screened before being allowed in and often come from less violent societies and higher social strata in their societies. Illegal immigrants commit more crimes and wouldn't commit any if they weren't here like they're supposed not to be.- so-called court of appeals ruling
Don't think I ever said anything about Stalinists being universal, but lets talk specifics, OK? Edit: For example, here's a specific nazi: http://heatst.com/culture-wars/black-lives-matter-leader-says-white-people-are-sub-human-and-suffer-from-genetic-defects/ - Politics 2017 Part 3
