the demo's been out for almost a year iirc. and yes, it was dead the last time i checked.

So, you're saying the lighting and shadow effects in NWN2 are more advanced than any other game on the market right now? I highly doubt this to be the case....but if you say so..... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i'm not sure if they're THE most advanced, but they're pretty advanced and as far as i know pretty badly optimized. thats a real killer combo
-
i'm just slightly amused at your "it's not my card, it's the game!!"-attitude. 100 % dynamic lighting and shadows is hard to pull off at higher resolutions, and nwn2's got that whole day cycle thing too. the models and animations might not be nothing to write home about, but the lighting and shadows more than make up for them.

lol @ setzer.

I would hope that my 7900GT 512mb card would be able to handle 1680x1050 resolution, at least it says it will. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> not nwn2 it seems.
-
well it's a known fact that nwn2 lags in high resolutions. so your LCD is kinda the problem, since your video card cant run the game in the resolution your LCD requires to look good. your LCD is the problem; your video card is the bottle neck.

Romances in NWN 2 and RPGs in general
Lare Kikkeli replied to Azarkon's topic in Computer and Console
seriously guys, if i'm looking for accurate protrayal of human emotions, i wont be looking at dnd, game or book. what i've always wondered is why no game studios ever hire actual authors to write the dialogue. -
again, NO, I DID NOT SAY YOUR MONITOR WAS THE PROBLEM. please re-read what i said. twice now, btw. as with ANY LCD (read: ANY, not just yours or your brand or model), graphics look best IN NATIVE RESOLUTION MODE. with NWN2, that resolution is too much for the graphics card to handle so you have to pair it down to get the frame rates to acceptable levels. once you do this, the LCD is running out of native mode, and no longer looks that great. ANY LCD. wow, this is a big DUH. i did't say you said that either. the fact that WoW is not a crpg means it has a different overall structure, which stresses your system differently. really, this is not rocket science. the reason that the type of game matters is the type of engine running it. engines are different. oblivion is more of a FPS type engine. WoW is something else (not sure exactly). NWN2 is a D&D crpg with a completely different engine (and requirements) than either of those. you're comparing performance of NWN2 to WoW or oblivion is pointless because THEY ARE DIFFERENT ENGINES ACCOMPLISHING DIFFERENT TASKS! sheesh... taks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> whoa, snappy. he was just wondering what makes NWN2 so special, since he can run both wow and oblivion in high resolutions. iirc what makes NWN2 so graphics intensive is the 100 % dynamic lighting. turn it off and voila, it runs like the wind. repeat woith shadows.

i like the GTA style. hot coffee, biatch. -
you can just hold right-click on the ground without targeting anyone. that way the commands will affect everyone in your party.

i'm getting 15-25 FPS outdoors, but it drops down to 10-15 indoors. anyone know a reason for this? i've disabled basically everything to have it running smoothly, but for some reason indoor areas lag like hell.
-
i did the same in bg1/2, but in nwn2 i've just been chugging tons of potions in every fight. makes the game more interesting, only a bit too easy. i use my main char who's a rogue as a tank

started again, this time i'll make a rogue 3/ranger 2/shadowdancer 10/shadow thief of amn 5. hopefully.

1) Yes, if you mean the greater chance of a crit attack. 2) Yes, you can take the Eldritch Knight prestige class and gain a fighters attack with a spellcasters spellcasting levels added. 3) Dunno, haven't done this yet. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 3) if you bash a chest a random item from it will be destroyed. a good reason to have a rogue around

how do you see your FPS's? is there a command to turn them on, or can you just tell?

Volourn's Early Final Fantasy 12 Impressions
Lare Kikkeli replied to Volourn's topic in Computer and Console
thats the same as leveling up to level 7 by killing kobolds in the nashkel mines in bg1. you can't say the game is unbalanced just because you're stupid enough to spoil it for yourself. -
sad but true. why they dont just let you download a plain .iso is beyond me.

Nope. I have no idea what you're talking about. But it sounds like a bug in those games. In FFT it was a "feature" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> uh, you so dont know what you're talking about. -
sooo what am i supposed to do is this a bug or am i just missing the obvious?
-
just a lil, i'd just sing now and then but mostly just crack skulls and be a badass. maybe a level of barb, as many levels of bard as it takes to meet the pre-reqs and then the rest for blackguard.
-
no comments on the name? i think it's pretty clever
-
Question. What are the in game stats for Tieflings? My memory is that they have a built in -2 to charisma. Not too much of a penalty, but might weaken your bardpowers. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yeah, but this isnt exactly a power build. now i dont want to gimp the char on purpose by switching to blackguard too early / soon, but the char pretty much requires tiefling. half demon black metal bard, do i have a choice?
-
ok so my thread got locked, so i'll jus post it here: My first build will probably be a Metal Bard, Lemmy KillMinstrel. Bard 15/Blackguard 5 maybe? Tiefling naturally, uses greatswords. Heavy emphasis on constitution (no one can drink like Lemmy) and strength, after them charisma (the moles can be a real mood killer) and dex (after all, he's a bassist). Int will be 10 and wis 6. I could throw a few fighter levels in there, or a couple of barb levels. Now i'd appreciate any help with when to actually dual class as i'm new with DnD 3.5.
