. I suspect it is more reasonable to assume that if a game won't get budget for a major or full VO, it will also be underbudgeted in other aspects as well.

Well, this depends on what it really means to be underbudgeted. IMHO PoE2 could fit into the definition of underbudgeted, or to have a more fresh example, look on Steam for Vivat Slovakia game. It has full VO, despite being absolutely unoptimised mess, despite it having a big potential for our domestic audience. after 5 years in development it hit Early Access now. Therefore for me, full VO in indie/AA games seems more like a type of mismanagement, as I do not see much difference betweem having it or not if your target audience is very niche in the first place. Which means it is almost impossible case to attract the mythical “wider audience” 🤷‍♂️

It seems ATACMs will be part of the US weapons package.
That should be about the last entry from Ukrainian wish-list.

It will also increase the pressure on Germany to send Taurus missiles.

Some ATACMs were already donated last year. UA hit with them a few Airfields and destroyed more than 15 helicopters. German opposition asked Sunak to make pressure on Scholz, as UK is donating biggest weapon package to the fight since WW2. AFAIK, they already met, but I have no clue yet, if Taurus was a topic.

I do see a number of differences. In the case of cold war Berlin, the western troops did not actively engage in open warfare with the WP forces and were based in areas acknowledged as western territory by the WP. In modern times, how long would Macron be able sell a war on the home front if it turned into a full scale war with Russia (without Nato backing)? No doubt the initial nationalism would carry it for a while, but once the body bags starts arriving back in the thousands, it may be a hard sell, not dissimilar to the Vietnam war (imho).

Is France ready for a "limited" nuclear war and the costs associated with it? Is the rest of Europe ready to die for France's military ambitions?

From every single note from France stance, I have not seen a single note about French Troops engaging in active combat (for now). Therefore it is to me still similar to West Berlin. And NATO and Russia already fought against each other in through their proxy wars in North Korea, Vietnam and Sahel, and it did not turned into nuclear holocaust. 🤷‍♂️

Way to open the door for unrestricted Russian retaliation against said countries. It won't just happen on the Ukrainian battlefield, but at the countries of origin of said troops. If someone sitting in a safe bunker somewhere wants to place bet on Russia not retaliating massively, well good on them, but if I lived in one of said European countries, I would make mental note of nearest cold war era shelter right away.

Here is a pretty good explanation, what would most likely happen, if some contry would sent their troops to Russia, and why it is not sucha big problem for an average Joe/Jacques/Jaszek.

We already had not long ago similar situation with NATO troops in West Berlin, which Russia wanted really bad.

There was an interesting article in Foreign Affairs today proposing that European countries could potentially send troops to Ukraine but do so outside of NATO and without invoking anything NATO-related, the argument being that this would not trigger as massive a response from Russia. Have any of you Europeans seen/heard anything along these lines being discussed there?

Not talked officially yet, but French does this all the time with their Foreign Legion in Sahel. They soldiers were attacked a lot by ISIS and similar bunch, and they never invoked Article 5. And some "analytics" are cautiously speaking about similar scenario. Also, there are already troops from NATO countries in Ukraine, but always just as advisors or trainers. Not in combat duties.

  6. It was about time.

In Slovakia, due to our government is incompetent and on their way to Greece with their spending, a non-government company has started a funding campaing to funf the Czech artillery shell initiative. People have raised 1 million Eur in 47 hours 👀

Out of curiosity, as a guy whose inner Star Wars fan died a long time ago (in this specific galaxy), does nostalgia bait still work on Star Wars fans (we have some here, right?)? It hasn't on me in decades. Like, do y'all still instantly splooge in your pants when you catch a glimpse of a star destroyer?

Well, Star Wars fan completely died in me with the latest trilogy (I liked part 7 and Rogue One though). IMHO Disney started an excellent idea with the Stormtrooper clone gaining free will, and could have done a lot to expand that idea, but they turned him into a non-entity and completely buried his plot. Seems like their Chinese audience were not to fond of black main protagonist 🤷‍♂️

So no, nostalgia is kicking only when I launch GOG launcher and see KOTOR 1 and 2 on my "digital shelf".

Your question is unanswerable because it relies on the premise that "most people will believe what comes from Hamas but question what we hear from Ukraine" which is completely unproven. You will have to demonstrate the veracity of that premise first, until then the question itself makes no sense.

What is "most people"? Most people where? In the world? Most, by definition, is over 50%, so do you mean it has been demonstrated that over 4 billion people believe and question things according to what you just typed there? I don't mean to deliberately punch holes in what you're doing, but you really do have to ask better questions.

Well, this is anecdotal, but from my experience almost everyone, who supports nationalist parties in our country does not believe that Russia commits atrocities, and on the other hand, they believe that Israel commits them. So the answer to @BruceVC question from the Slovakian PoV is simple. It is mix of Russophilia and antisemitism which is dear to these people. These people always believe what they want to believe, and even if they provide then 100% factual proof about the opposite, they immediately deny it 🤷‍♂️

Of couse, I don't expect this great streak from Capcom to last, but I'm going to take advantage of it while it is happening. At the very least, I hope they're still kicking ass like they currently are until Monster Hunter 6 comes out. That said, even when Capcom are doing great, like they are now, they can't help but do some stupid things. Case in point, the whole online shop thing. Dragon's Dogma 2 is just the latest example, Capcom has been inexplicably shoehorning completely and utterly pointless microtransactions into games for a while now and creating controversies for no ****ing reason whatsoever. I've been trying to wrap my head around it and...

    bzaflp0rp3bmcdh6noxn.gif

I mean, I have to assume that somebody is spending money in these shops. Otherwise why would they keep shoehorning them into games? I just cannot figure out who the **** buys stuff from a Capcom online shop? And for what? You never ever need anything from those shops. You can just completely ignore the online shops in recent Capcom games, play the games normally, and be completely fine. You'll never hit a wall where it's like "$#!+, I'm going to have to grind for hours to get strong enough to get through this next part, or I could spend $5 and get this booster from the shop and be good to go". That just doesn't exist in these games. So why the **** even have the online shops?

Actually, that's what I call a good in-game shop. No need to buy anything from it to not spoil my game, but if there is anyone who for whatever reason wants to throw his money out of the window, who am I to judge, if it does not impair my experience from the game. Bamco has such microtransactions in som of their games as well. You could buy XP and money, but I have never ever felt in any of their Tales of games, that the balance of the game was skewed to force people to buy this **** :shrugz:

  10. I have solved the "Mystery" in the Nashville station in Encased. The game has really a lot of text, but I got used to it. The story has taken a very interesting turn there. And I am now hyped, what to expect next. 😄  Even without the knowledge of the game, I am still able to move forward without attacking anyone. But it was already twice very close to fail at Nashville :)

RVC didn't gain much, even with armour and artillery and whatever else Ukraine helped with, though. And unlikely ISIS is going to be running with that.

But I suppose people will be back rooting for oppressed Muslims to rise up and disintegrate Russia or something.

Well they are still holding/fighting in Kozinka, Glotovo and Gorkovskyi villages. And Russian army destroyed almost every house in the Kozinka. And tens of thousands people had to be evacuated from Grayvoron and even Belgorod. So yes for some it might be considered as not much, but it has still shown a weakness at russian borders. If they cannot guard even borders with a state with which they are at war, how good do you think, will their other borders will be guarded? And as you have seen ISIS did not needed any artillery to get to Moscow, unlike Prigozhin 🤷‍♂️

Been playing DD2. I've got over 15 hours and I've only done one main quest. Visited the inn to heal up and rest. Woke up to see goblins running around in the city everywhere. My first thought was that the Goblin Wars had begun but figured out later that an ox cart pulled the goblin's agro and led them into the city.

I was 100% sure you have been talking about Darkest Dungeons 2 until other people started to post again about Dragon's Dogma 2 😄

20% by your count should be strong enough. They also have the Rosvgardia.

Rosgvardia is currently also mostly in occupied territories going after partizans. 🤷‍♂️ And Russia is crazy big country. You can see once in a while how 20% for that big country is enough, whenever the "Russian Volunteer Corps" decide to heat up the pot a little bit 🤷‍♂️ Russia is currently all-in after Ukraine, hoping, that no one is brave enough to attack Russia. And this might have changed with the release of these videos 🤷‍♂️ Only time will tell...

I suppose the bottom line is that no matter who did it it, Ukraine is going to get the blame and the revenge, as far as Russia is concerned. I can't see how it could be any other way. (And yes, it almost certainly was islamists by whatever name they wish to be called.) As much as what happened was ISIS' modus operandi, blaming Ukraine is Russia's.

The ISIS "officials" has already responded to the Russian videos of torture. They have announced they will avenge their "warriors" and will be going after Russian officials, as they view them as "anti-muslim nationalists". From the historic point of view, it will interesting to see how the Russia will fight against enemy, which has as much disregard for human life, as they do. Especially, when 80+% of their forces are currently in Ukraine and their borders have more holes than a collection of Swiss cheese. :shrugz:
