  1. and wasn't there a Greek (not sure on his name) who was very close to inventing the steam engine? so yeah technology can be forgotten and lost. well i believe at some point in the EU (forgotten where its from but..) 3 ISD's wipe out pretty much all intelligent life on some planet, so it's not exactly un heard of but the point of the Death Star was to keep systems sympathetic to the rebels terrified that the empire would use it against them so they wouldn't break away. And also theres the fact that planetary shields can block orbital bombardments from fleets of ships (see ESB) but not a superlaser...... I suppose the rakatan power thing is possible, would also explain why the other Republic ships seem so pathetic and un prepared to battle the leviathans. Oh and while we are on the subject of technology being lost: Naga Sadows ship had a set of powerful crystals on it which could be used with the dark side of the force to cause super nova's. Don't see none of that around later (well until the sun crusher anyway) Holocron technology is lost long before the films as well... so theres plenty of examples of technology being lost in SW.
  2. i'm not saying it does, i'm saying it would certainly speed up the destruction that is happening, also if i'm thinking of the same shot as you it dosent blow up the whole building just the top 5 floors or so? besides as i said in my first post i'm pretty sure those stats are incorrect so it may well have a couple of turbo lasers but all those guns on the side cannot all be turbo lasers if it has grav well generators as well, they take huge amounts of power even on the Immobilisers 4000 years later so it couldn't support a large number of heavy weapons. Theres also the fact that 3 laser blasts bouncing off a building wouldn't look very dramatic....
  3. The reason for that is explained by the Ithorian merchant and carth on Taris, shield generators used by the rep/sith block blaster shots but a swrod will cut straight through it. So you think shield generators, not blasters, are undeveloped in this age? That's the argument we are waiting for! The Levithian just had poorly shielding. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> in the cutscenes at the star forge battle one of the smaller republic ships (destroyer maybe?) get ripped apart by a leviathan after a few shots and the shields were up when it first gets hit i think, also even the larger republic ships seem to get taken down pretty easily so yeah i'd sya shields are not as developed as weaponry. (note i'm not saying the blasters in KOTOR are as developed as the ones in the films) It's also possible with the personal shield gens that eventually the shield tech can't keep up witt blaster tech without requiring a large power source so it gradually fades out of military use? Also my original response was about all the republic/sith soldiers carrying swords not the strength of shields or anything, and as i said the game explains that.
  4. The reason for that is explained by the Ithorian merchant and carth on Taris, shield generators used by the rep/sith block blaster shots but a swrod will cut straight through it. in the eu cloaking devices used on the Sith infiltrator (Darth's Mauls ship) required a rare mineral which only existed on some planet that got wiped out during the clone wars. a similar thing might of happened with the kotor ones. But later the empire develops another cloak but it requires huge amounts of energy and is unstable in hyperspace (see GA Zaarins death ) In the Thrawn trilogy thrawn uses another cloak, but this blinds the cloaked ship as well so it's use is limited but the imperial remnant does fit some ISD's with them.
  5. the Leviathan's armament/stats are basically just copied and pasted from the Immobiliser class Interdictor Cruiser's used during and after the original trilogy so i wouldn't say they are that accurate. Also just to compare, here's the armament of a Victory I Star Destroyer: 10 quad turbolaser batteries 40 double turbolaser batteries 80 concussion missile tubes 10 tractor beam projectors on a ship 900 metres long built during the clone wars and was one of the best shis available to the Republic. And here is the armament of an Invincible class Dreadnaught built 3000 years before the original trilogy: 30 quad-laser cannons 12 turbolaser cannons 6 tractor beam projectors 6 concussion missile tubes. An Invincible class Dreadnaught is just over 2 kilometres long..........and was one of the largest the Republic built. there's also quite a few of them in orbit of Taris which has got to count for alot of the damage that is caused by the bombardment.
  6. errm i always assumed that by their "secret" Ajunta Pall meant the starmap or something else entirely but not the starforge. And also Marka Ragnos and Naga Sadow already had lots told about them before KOTOR(in the comics) and none of it mentions a starforge. Ajunta Pall says i believe that he was one of the first to turn against the Jedi so he was probably one of the dark jedi who went to Korriban after being banished from the republic. I don't think the game says anything about Tulak Hord though
  7. there is also Winter in the EU who has naurally white hair and she's from Alderaan.
  8. that is what i have been saying all the time!!!!!!!!!! *sigh* from my first post: i think KOTOR is 50 years after exar kun (some jedi on dant talks about it) but Admiral Karath says Carth is a veteran of the mandalore wars, he looks a bit yuong to be nearly 70 so it must be a different war.
  9. exactly my point if the mandalorian wars carth fought in ended 3 years before KOTOR, then it's got to be a different war since Exar Kun's sith (which includes Ulic) were defeated 50 years before and i doubt with the technology and ease of travel at the time a war could last that long without one side being wiped out........... i do know how the mandalorians aided Ulic, they attacked the Empress Teta System which was controlled by Ulic-Qel Droma and Aleema Keto. Mandalore challenges Ulic to a duel, Ulic wins but instead of killed Mandalore says all his warriors must serve him, they agree and Ulic/Mandalorians/Krath troops attack coruscant. Aleema betrays Ulic he's captured and their troops are driven back, she takes over but mandalore asks exar kun to help rescue Ulic, Kun and a group of Massassi burst in on Ulics trial and free him. Aleema and Crado blow em selves up along with the cron cluster, ulic and kun raid ossus, ulic gets stripped of the force and kun flees to yavin and transfers his spirit into a temple to avoid a jedi attack. Mandalore is killed after a failed raid on Onderon and dies on Dxun. but thats is all like 50 years before KOTOR and therefore 47 years before the end of the mandalorian wars........... am i making any sense at all ?
  10. errm assuming i read your post correctly (saying the mandalore wars refered to in KOTOR is when the mandalorians and sith both attacked (nearly took coruscant i believe) i think KOTOR is 50 years after exar kun (some jedi on dant talks about it) but Admiral Karath says Carth is a veteran of the mandalore wars, he looks a bit yuong to be nearly 70 so it must be a different war.
  11. i'm pretty sure thats just the effects from the improved special moves (power attack i think) did it in the first game (like improved flurry had the purple rings around the hands, power attack your weapon/hands glowed)
  12. i may be mistaken but i'm pretty sure the sith pre-darth bane had one Dark Lord of the Sith but multiple lesser Sith Lords, EG Marka Ragnos was the Dark Lord of the Sith but at the same time Naga Sadow and Ludo Kressh were Sith Lords and when Ragnos died Sadow took the title of Dark Lord and ludo kressh then challenged him for it but failed. Also i belive its only AFTER Darth Banes reforms that the apprentice of the Dark Lord is counted as a Sith Lord. like i said though i could be mistaken.
  13. but if he was a pawn then surely these sith lords would know about the star forge, and if thats the case you would think they would intervene when the jedi sent revan against malak/to find the star forge rather than lose a valuable production centre. then again he could just be a diversion to deplete the republic...but then that brings you back to the sith lords manipulating him but as said in previous posts how likely are they to be working together?
  14. i agree they are probably all working for their own personal gain but i can't see a group of Sith Lords(presumably being sith lords for a fair bit of time and behind organising the mandalorian war) being happy at the thought of an outsider like Revan setting himself up as Dark Lord.
  15. is it possible that Revan and Malak turned to the darkside while searching for the starforge and stumbled across the sith empire along the way and Revan successfully challenged the reigning Dark Lord, therefore making him the new one. As for the ones in KOTOR 2 could it be they were already sith lords at that period and chose not to follow Revan and instead took their followers and disappeared. Darth Sions porfile dosent say why he is so badly beaten perhaps he had a disagreement with revan and came out of it in a bad way...... and instead chose to just wait it out and if DS, now that Revan is weakened by his memory loss and malak is dead the other sith lords come back and decided they want their empire back, or if LS they come back and take over where Revan left off?
  16. about the shields thing i'm sure that malak says somewhere that they were ambushed by a republic fleet, so they were in battle and the shields could of been taken out (to allow the jedi to board the ship perhaps ???)
  17. There are many dark jedi/sith in the EU who had blue lightsaber. For example Exar Kun. In Kotor1 there were some dark jedi using a purple saber. theres also sariss and Yun in jk sariss uses blue and yun uses yellow, sev'rance tann in GBG also uses yellow. so sith/dark jedi are not restricted to red but yeah the most common colour for darksiders is red so it won't be confusing.
