In that case it was his fear that "activated" his soul. Recognizing one's mortality is a step of being self aware.

Well, it seems Hasbro doesn't like the fact its not making any money for them so they want to revamp it into something that will make money. I agree that the current form of the d20 System is just fine as is.
-
Not really. That does not necessarily mean they are self aware, though that does not mean they don't have the potential to do so further along their evolutionary path. Evolution and mutation is still very much happening today in lower life forms. One of my friends has a pair of cats that have an equivelent to an opposable thumb which the cats use to grab and hold items for their use.

Hmmm... Interesting.

You write that as a statement but end it with a question mark, Alanschu. Every dog that I have come across have acted that its mirror image is another dog instead of being itself.
-
Hey, I wanted to play it before it was released, well somewhat. That has to be worth something. My wants in a game is not that much. Just an original well written story that has an ending I can't predict and a rules system that allows me to make many diverse characters.
-
Even a dog is aware of food or a toy, but that does not make it self aware. Can it look at a mirror and realize the image he sees is not another dog but himself? Just because you learned to catch a ball at 1 year old does not make you self aware. As for quoting scripture my view of the bible is that it is a well written mythology. It is the written record of events that happened thousands of years in the biased view of a patriarchal monotheistic culture which uses mythic and the supernatural to explain what was unexplainable given the technologies that existed at the time.

I am pretty much waiting for the Direct X 10 video cards to be released before updating but which is more powerful, the GeForce 7600 or the Radeon X1600?

Here is some worthless speculation and rumors about Fourth Edition DnD from the d20 community center: www.enworld.org. From the esteemed Monte Cook: From Ryan Dancey, former WotC Staffer: And from the rumormille d20 System messiah Eric Noah: Well, I see this as bad news, if true. I have no real interest in 4e because 3.5e and Malhavoc satisfies all the fantasy gaming needs I have and d20 Modern handles everything else.

What is the freaking obsession with this word? This is like the umpteenth thread about this. Sheesh, can't people read the context in which it wa used and come to the conclusion for themselves or do you guys need to be spoonfed every little detail? Also what is with the uber long sigs. Do use a favor and keep them short. A sig should not be longer than the post.

OH NOES! Obsidian's days are numbered!

They have yet made a game that I want to play.

Do atrocities come with an expiry date?
Judge Hades replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Way Off-Topic
Bogitry is still very prevalent in the highest offices of our government. I mean it is uite obvious that George W. Bush is a bigot against homosexuals to the point he will not allow them the same civil rights as everyone else purely based on his religious beliefs. Everyone needs someone to hate so they can feel justified and superior to those they hate. -
In my belief, if you can call it that, a soul is the sentient mind without physical ties. A soul is the collective memory and experiences a sentient gains over the course of his or her life and when the physical body dies that sentience is released to go where ever or be dispersed into nothingness.

Bigotry and hatred a part of human nature? Say it not so. The past is the past and we should never forget the past, but we should not let it justify the evils going on today nor the future. We need to learn from the past and make sure such things never happen again, but we won't unless it serves our personal interests and/or agenda. -
Until a human being becomes self aware, sentient it is nothing but another animal on this earth. A potential unfulfilled is a potential that is irrelevant. In the development and growth cycle of a human being self awareness and sentience does not occur til around 2 to 3 years old, basicly when the human being can form its first memory. Think back to your earliest memory and well, that is when you became self aware for the most part. This might sound a bit callous but til that point happens a human child is no more sentient than any other primate. Sure you can train it to respond to stimuli but you can also train a monkey or dog to respond to stimuli as well. That doesn't mean they are sentient beings. Placing bans on stem cell research through the use of embryos is downright stupid. There are a great number of diseases that could be cured or their progress stopped if such research was allowed. Banning such research to "save the children" or use some atiquated morality from a religion whose starters thought the world was flat is simply condemning the lives of those who have the ailments that could be cured from such studies prolonged agonies. Hell, full stemcell research would allow human cloning which could help those like this child to have a full productive life. Clone the necessary material and sugically implant them. Who knows what can be accomplished if the scientific research can be done without the interference of backward thinking people like President George W. Bush.

I do believe that abortion should be the last resort in nearly all cases but a ban would simply not work. If people want something bad enough they will find ways to do it, legal or not.

Low Level Consular, Jedi Master.
Judge Hades replied to Jesse Conroy's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Listen, 15th level is freaking high. Low level is 1st to 3rd level. Sheesh. -
If you say so.

15th level is considered low?!?!?!? WTF?!?!?! -
If you go the Nvidia route I would suggest the 7600.

This is unfortunate for a child to have these deformities but always a possibility. If such deformities and mutations are dedected prior to the second trimester then I think that an abortion would probably be for the best but that is for the woman to decide. Banning abortion is only a tool of the government trying to control a woman's reproductive system and nothing else. Anyone who says they are seeking a ban to protect life and/or children are lying to you or fooling themselves. Abortion is a woman's issue and it is the woman's body. Let her decide if an abortion is necessary or not.

I am sure Obsidian would have patched that glitch if Lucas Arts actually gave a damn and funded the patch process.

Radeon 9100 and the 9200 are not compatible with Open GL 1.4. They just don't have the necessary hardware bits to do it. You are SOL unless you update your hardware.

Survival is meaningless if it comes at the cost of dehumanizing another.
