Not really. For me to consider something it has to be face to face and tangible.
-
I am not saying that everyone should act like jerkwads, and no it isn't real life. Real life is outside meeting people in real time and enjoying the fresh air. The Internet is a place to share information that might reflect or not reflect real life. The only way to experience real life is getting away from the keyboard and go outside. If you think the Internet is real life then you need help.

I figure setting and story would be Fallout by default. I mean Bethesda isn't that thick. Besides, Darque and Alanschu. the Fallout discussion was over so why are you two bring it up again? Kind of late to the party weren't you. Also you bring up the issue of credibility. Let me clue you in on something: this is an internet forum and not real life. Who gives a smeg? I most certainly don't.
-
No. I will be getting Oblivion first then NWN 2. Oblivion will be released in March and NWN 2 in June.
-
I null it over. I need to play catch up on my bills first before even thinking about a new game. Right now I only have two on my list for this year. Oblivion and NWN 2.
-
I have browse the works of HP Lovecraft though I am hardly an expert. I have mostly worked withthe d20 version of CoC.
-
I was considering getting it when I have the funds available.
-
So, how is that Call of Cthulu game? Any good?
-
Probably not, but I would most certainly feel major guilt if he did get fired over this, then again you are probably right. EDIT: It better have Dogmeat and Harold in it at least. And a toolset! Grrr...
-
At least we have that in common. Then again there is a little bit of me also hopes that it is Oblivion with Guns just to piss off the Codexers.
-
Well, I hope they do not and I duly apologize if that happens. I would not want that to happen to anyone. Of course as far as I am concerned our discussion is completely off the record and I most certainly will not hold to anything that is said here at this forum. As far as I am concerned what happens at Obsidian stays at Obsidian.

Such graphical displays are childish and annoying.
-
Now you are just being ridiculous. You have proven to me that Fallout will be indeed Fallout in name only. You win so be happy.
-
Excuses. It has been done with Fallout Tactics and that system was quite satisfactory for the task it was given.
-
Yes, I have. Also Shadowstrider has confirmed a few things for me about Bethesda's attitude toward the franchise.
-
Shadowstrider, I am trying to be reasonable. Yes, let the game have real time combat but let there also be turn base combat as well. What is the harm in having both systems? Are you saying that you guys are incapable of doing this? That you lack skill to balance the combat system in both regards? The more options you give the game the wider the audience you will have.
-
Not blind loyalty, but loyalty yes. And I would say I like their games in general. I only own two and one of them I don't like.
-
I am just trying to find a nice middle ground that will keep both the purists and the casual crowd happy. You know, its called compromise. If Shadowstrider's attitude and the words said in those interviews of Hines and Howard are any indication on how they are going to develope Fallout 3 there will be very little of Fallout in the game except for the title.
-
J.E. Sawyer sated, back on the old BIS forums, that Van Buren was to have both Turn Base combat and real time combat options, but the game itself would have been balanced for Turn Base combat. Shadwostrider, like I said I am not asking for Bethesda's Fallout 3 to be exclusively turn base. I am asking for the turn base option as it is played out inthe original Fallouts.
-
Not FULLY turn based. Thats because Fallout != turn based combat. That is YOUR preference, not the Fallout's setting. S.P.E.C.I.A.L. works well in either TB or RT. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Um, they were fully turn base, just not exclusively turn base. Also SPECIAL does not work well in real time without some heavy modifications. Fallout Tactics is the best SPECIAL got to real time but Lionheart was the worse.

Before we go on I think that we need to have a consensus of what a proper Fallout 3 should or should not have. Now I know Gabs would be very much happy with a Fallout 3 done that it looks and plays like the first 2 Fallout CRPGs. It is a valid desire but there is no way in hell that is going to happen. A Proper Fallout should have key elements that makes Fallout well Fallout, but not necessarily have these elements exclusively. 1: The Rules System. The Rules System of Fallout 3 needs to be recognizably SPECIAL. Now of course there will be necessary changes to update and streamline the system. I have a few ideas how I would do it but that is neither here nor there. For the combat aspects there needs to be a turn base mode for us old timers but I am not saying the game should be exclusively turn base. If we have the option to toggle between Turn Base and Real Time (as presented in Fallout Tactics) that should give the reasonable old timers and the rest a good middle ground to meet on. 2: Graphics and Style Representation. Expecting a game in this day and age from a developer/publisher to be 2D is downright ludricrous. That being said I would most definitely want full 3D environments that I can fully enjoy blowling up people and see blood and body parts fly all over the battlefield. Now I would like to see a free roaming camera aka Neverwinter Nights, with a toggle that will allow first person view or lock it in over the shoulder view. 3/4 view should be an option but not the only option. 3: NPCs. It has to have Dogmeat and Harold in the game or its just not Fallout. If I think of more must haves I'll post them.

I never insulted Morrowind. I think it is a decent enough game. I just don't think its style and presentation would make a good Fallout. Fallout Tactics had a turn base mode, Shadowstrider, and J.E. Sawyer himself said that van Buren would be balanced for turn base even though it would have both turn base and real time options. Both of these games were fully turn base, but not exclusively turn base. Bethesda's version can be real time if they want. More power to them but don't expect me to buy it if it doesn't have a turn base mode to it. If they mirror combat, both real time and turn base modes, like in Fallout Tactics with full 3D rendering along with a variable camera which I can control then I will be very much happily buy the game.
-
I don't but in BG I don't need to. My character does all the work.
-
I am not immune to change as well but there are just certain aspects of the game that needs to remain true to the first two Fallouts for me to even consider to buy this game. I also have come to realize Bethesda will make the game in a way they are comfortable with. I won't be joining the crusade against bethesda but I won't be buying Fallout 3 either if it doesn't fit with my criteria of what a proper modern fallout game should have.
