  1. Hey Boeroer,

Hoping you can help me out.  I am trying to return to POE2 to complete the DLC but it has been quite a while since I have played.  In April you briefly describe two builds that I was hoping I could get more information on such as recommend attributes (non min max | POTD Difficulty).  Those were the Furyshaper/Beguiler and the Soulblade/Trickster ( I know to max Resolve but what were the other priorities?).  Can you help me with a little more info in regards to attributes or require skills.  I apologize if this was placed elsewhere but I do appreciate any help you can provide.

I hope you have a great New Years!

    Regards

Thank you very much.  I don't know where you find the time to help all of us, but I really do appreciate your insight and knowledge.  Two questions...

      1) Assuming you take Draining Bite on Beguiler/Furyshaper since you arent around for damage?

      2) Like you, I am very thematic oriented / RP style of player while keeping difficulties high.  I plan on starting with the MC in the first POE...same stats and keeping the general flavor the same with eventually move them into POEII as the furyshaper/beguiler.  The only thing that I can think of is using your firebrand cipher build or would that hurt too much by having the low might of the furyshapre/beguiler? (I would like to keep the stats the same between games)

Hm... what could a Furyshaper/Beguiler look like in PoE?

      Base I guess:
      a) Barbarian with Enigma's Charm/Spirit Spiral/Munacra Arret/Ring of Changing Heart or
      b) Cipher with Outlander's Fury/Sanguine Plate

As weapon I would choose Morning Star - just because in Deadfire I would also go with that (Willbreaker). First you can buy Crate's Remorse early from Vincent Dwellier in the Salty Mast (it's just an exceptional morning star but still good that early) and later fetch the Rose of Salthollow from Cliaban Rilag. It's a good weapon for a Barb because of the draining (which works with Carnage).

So I guess I would pick the Barbarian and use Enigma's Charm etc.
What would be really nice later in the game is to get the Executioner's Hood: it stacks with Threatening Presence (I hope) which would give you like two offensive auras: the first sickens enemies and the second one frightens which are cool passive debuffs to have which fit the theme (watch out for enemy ciphers with Psychic Backlash though!). Barbaric Yell/Shout would also be nice.

I'm thinking I would definitely want to start with Cipher in POE.  So it seems like my MC may be a little underpowered in the first game, essentially being a Cipher two hand user with lower might / damage and more just used for gaining focus and slinging spells at close range?

  2. Question on the Morningstar. I’m assuming you used Willbreaker? Do you have to avoid the DOT upgrade because it can interfere with the 100% damage on next attack? I am not familiar if DOTs can take precedence and consume the buff.
  3. Would this work with Tactician? With the battered mind upgrade you should be able to push out a large amount of interrupts.
  4. I am interested in this as I have always gravitated towards "debuffing" type builds. I know you are using a companion in your playthrough, but if using the MC what attributes would be considered priority? Is is worth it to place many points in might due to you having the morning star modal on most of the time and suffering -25% damage? In my opinion Int/Dex/Per should be priority or do you debuff fortitude so much that Per does not matter?
  5. In regards to active buffs not stacking, that means zealous endurance and gilded enmity (Goldpact) AR buffs don’t stack?
  6. Hmm, it seems like a Goldpact/shifter can be pretty sturdy in regards to armor rating with the various Druid buffs, bear form, gold enmity, and even stoic steel. Damage should be decent as you said, you can even add on the various storm spells to increase impact. Does Armor Rating eventually fall off in POTD? I imagine it loses its effectiveness past a certain point?
  7. I am trying to see if Unbroken/Shifter would work for one of my companions on POTD difficulty without getting torn apart in a few seconds. I am trying to build around high pen disengage attacks as well as Avenging storm from Heaven's Cacophony. I'm assuming the stat spread should be something like Boeroer's "Bat**** Crazy" build from pillars 1 (https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/83775-class-build-batsht-crazy-disabling-druid-tank/) Any suggestions on if this can work? What should I build around? Any must have items? Thanks!
  8. Alright so INT being the priority, probably followed by PEr since you have to hit and I’m assuming DEX/Might about equal.
  9. Not quite sure how the additive damage on Crits work....would it be worth it to go high might on that debonaire/cipher build or is it worth it to invest in other necessary states (PER/INT/DEX) Thanks!
  10. Ok sorry, I was going off a previous statement that pernicious cloud didn’t remove the effects. Was that a special case?
  11. For my own clarity as I know it was mentioned earlier, all damage sources including basic attacks and besides CC break charm/dominate?
  12. Has anyone figured out how to make Debonaire work efficiently? I know there was talk earlier in this thread about cohesion with cipher, wizard, or devoted, just wondering if anything else has been determined. I’m assuming the key is to have high damage abilities that are Friendly fire aoe? Any further weapons that have on Crit effects that would warrant a build around them? Debonaire/devoted with Amra, Oathbreakers, or karaboru and a cipher in the party? Debonaire/cipher with essence interrupter?
  13. Wouldn’t the elemental bolts upgrade on the Spearcaster overcome this? It adds +3% Damage as Burn, Corrode, Freeze and Shock. Is the sufficient to remove the penalty or am I misunderstanding?
  14. Question on a possible combination I am thinking about playing... would Arcane Archer / Devoted be any good? I am thinking of using he arbalest “spearcaster” so I get multiple bonuses for stacking Arcane. Does the weapons accuracy bonus impact the primary attack from the imbue abilities?
  15. Hey All, I wanted to play the entire franchise through as a Priest of Wael and eventually multiclass with a Barbarian in POE2. I saw some talk on the Shaman build but was slightly confused on how it plays. Do you get within melee range with the Rod spiritual weapon for carnage + blast or is this strictly a ranged build? What abilities should I be taking? Any advice would be most certainly welcome. Thanks!
  16. Hello all, I really want to at least try and make a form of the fearsome brute build work in POTD. Obviously I would need to multiclass it with something that has access to full attacks to make up for the large recovery penalty the form brings. This brings into mind Ranger, Barbarian, Rogue, and Paladin. I do like the idea of running a Geomancer. Would this be viable in any way? I know the fists due pretty large amounts of damage and as a result, should work pretty well with wounding shot, and you would also have your pet/abilities. Any ideas? Is it just not worth it and doesn't make up for the difference that using Rogue or Barbarian would bring? Thanks!
  17. I would lose the offensive parry from Whispers of the Endless Paths. Trying to build high deflection around multiple parry skills.
  18. maybe a wizard rogue might work better cause of all the +deflection buffs? I did quite a bit of brainstorming to figure out which other class would work best with Rogue and would provide the highest amount of readily available Deflection. By utilizing Trickster, I have access to Mirrored Image which provides +30 deflection which is only 10 less than Wizard's Double. I do not consider Arcane Veil an option because it is simply too short of a buff. With a Paladin subclass I get a "readily available" passive deflection bonus through Deep Faith (+21?). I can't find a class other than Paladin that would provide that much...Fighter has some deflection buffs but they revolve around being hit to remain active...something that I want to avoid.
  19. Yes, both trigger on the same miss. You are still semi limited by the lower % chance on riposte going off though, offensive parry seems to go off every time.
  20. Managed to download the game and test, it does. Might try to build a high deflection Trickster/GoldPact Knight that focuses on Riposte/Offensive Parry.
  21. Can a rogue's riposte and offensive parry from Whispers of an Endless path trigger at the same time or are they exclusive of one another?
  22. Hello, What is the fastest way to build focus on a pure cipher ascendant that is not weapon switching. Rod with blast? That multi shot frost bow? Melee? Thanks for the help!
  23. Does anyone know if The Long Pain can be used with monk abilities whose range says "melee"? Also does The Long Pain still benefit from two weapon fighting?
