thats your own personal opinion PS: *sigh* game over? did you play Mario Bros or what? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He always says game over when he's giving up. It's his fundamental inability to debate an issue.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAA <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He is right in that 100% <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah we noticed that on the pw we play at that default pathfinding doesn't allow you to walk off paths and explore. That really does suck.
-
Wow..you don't play many games do you? Easily entertained much?

This is probably the first "fair and "balanced" review I've seen for NWN2 so far. Jeff Green seems more like someone who has actually played it than some of the more rosey reviews with obligatory high scores doled out based on the franchise name alone, as well as seems to echo most of the real world reactions to NWN2 than anywhere else. Personally I think the game as is deserves a 5/10.

This taken from a Bioware thread unrelated to thread topic got me concerned.

Yes I agree with the bash and trash author at sorcerers.net. There, back on topic.. :D

Ya..says you pal.. The millions i've seen online over the past 5 years says different.

It's a D&D game..why would most people buy it for the OC? You have no evidence of this and frankly it makes little sense, especially since you just admitted it was in fact a great D&D game. People buy D&D games for the "party" format. Multiplayer is a hand glove fit for this type of concept.
-
Well I agree with Soulthief on this one. UI is way more cluttered and slow btw isn't there an entire thread dedicated to UI improvement here : NWN2 Interface Feedback and Requests

LMAO Why in Hades would anyone want to pause in a multiplayer battle/duel? Does that make any sense at all? 1 person pauses, and the other is already ready, then vice versa, then one needs to pause again and the other is wating? You don't play much multiplayer do you?
-
That's not the case at Bioware from what I see. 70% think NWN2 isn't very good so far and can use a lot of improvement.
-
It downloaded it. It installed 96% of it. Then hit a file called VO.Zip and then choked. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Cancel it and do it over..that's why I did when mine hit a roadbloack at 51% at least. 2nd time was the charm and fully installed

Anyone notice how the voice acting for some of the NPC's got a lot worse? They used to augment the sounds with digital filters, without them they sound like nerds trying to sound scary. The Lizards are just one example. I haven't heard many other Beast, Monstorous or Outsider soundsets yet.

Why Do The Lizards Sound Like My Neighbor?

Yeah - forgot to title thread properly. :\ -

And point out an RPG based on Faerun/D&D/Tolkien format that uses NPC's with a southern twang accent.. I want a more immersive gaming experience. I find it hard to "immerse" when nearly everyone in the campaign talks like my neighbor. That's not really the biggest flaw IMO. The overall graphics and movement for PC's need a complete overhaul. The performance of the game engine in relation to the requirements and reccomendations it demands is horrendous. I'm running possibly the best system out at the moment and exceed even the reccomended system specs and the game runs slower than a fat lady running uphill carrying an anvil. :\

Gameplay: 7/10 Outside of the fact the PC's can't run straight using arrow keys, and points of interest are obscured into the background making it difficult to find items, and the language being modern English is hard to immerse yourself into, the battling seems decent enough, the quests have been rewarding, and the sense of adventure is somewhat intact. Story: 6/10 The storyline itself thus far has been fairly original and interaction has been ok, but the language being modern English really makes it hard to get into the game *for me anyways. Obsidian seemed content with overlooking detaisl like Faerun based middle aged dialect. This a big detail IMO. I even encountered an NPC witha souther twang..*echh bleagh* Graphics: 4/10 No AntiAliasing, PC's are all the same and all look featureless and manequin like. Very stiff and un-organic job done by the PC modelers. The faces all strike me as an educational game made for children, not a fantasy RPG game made for genre loyalists. While the backgrounds with all settings on high are impressive and the NPC's are well modeled, the main heroes (PC's) need a lot of work as does the skill level of whoever modeled them. The Spell Buffing VFX in NWN1 still look better to me - remember Spell resistance had that cool looking glowing glyphs that acutally encompassed your character in 3 dimensions? The buffs arent even in 3 dimensions anymore. To demand so much from your system settings and then offer so little in return was a big let down. GUI: 4/10 - Clunky, intrusive takes up nearly 50% of the screen in total. Inventory looks worse than NWN1. You'll notice when leveling up they just threw weapon profeciancy feats on top of one another so there is no sub menus to organize it all. Very unorganized. Overall Rating So Far: 6/10 The poor PC modeleing and lack of options in character creation + the Modern Day English writing are the biggest and most annoying issues I have so far. If those were fixed or augmented in someway along with PC movement I could see myself giving this game an 8/10.

NWN2: Major disappointment - Character creation
Riftworm replied to Riftworm's topic in Computer and Console
Not supermodels. I just think a few more options to make your character look less like everyone else and more like I want would be better. Also the options they do have the features of the models look like Burt Reynolds after his face lift. They stare blankly back at you as if they just had injections of botox. They don't look "real". They don't have an organic sculpted look. -
NWN2: Major disappointment - Character creation
Riftworm replied to Riftworm's topic in Computer and Console
1%? So by your standards they could be a 6 pixel box running around looking like Pacman? Meh..I dunno just Very "mannequin" looking to me, as if the PC modelers threw out everything they knew about anatomical correctness concerning the heads (no modeled features - no brow or cheek and nose structure - just flat blank stares liek corpses - they look like Eloi people), and the bodies arent as unique as NWN1 even. A video game should give the options to bring someones imagination to life. With so few options to make your character look unique, you could be playing pen and paper. The backgrounds and many NPC's look gorgeous, just I think they dropped the ball on character creation. - -
I have the game (it's out in Israel since 4 hours ago) and I havent played much yet but one of the things I was looking for was character creation and as far as customizing your character's look it is a HUGE let down. You cannot edit the face at all, all you can do is choose between 5-6 faces for each race, and they are pretty ugly looking. I couldnt find one female face that looked good. The female elves faces look like males Also, you cannot edit anything about the hair, same deal. 8-10 hair styles to choose from and they are not very interesting. You can't edit the length or anything else. Also, you cannot change the height\weight of your character so basically all character bodies are identical if they are of the same race. lame. I realize this is not such a big part of the game but I really like it when you can build a character and have many options to set how he\she will look. Well......this is not the case here.

An admin for a NWN2 beta testing server told me on the phone that he couldnt run NWN2 using a duo core processor on a fairly hefty and newer system, and that NWN2 likely didnt support duo core processors. Is this true? Can anyone substantiate this? If so that really limits my options to the new computer im in the market for as it's a fairly common processor. If anyone knows or can shed some light - much appreciated thx. -
