  1. California also has sky high rent and mortages, which goes a long way towards explaining it, but it may be more complicated than just that for hurlshot.
  2. Yeah, the unanswered question is 'how'. Aside from the 'kicking in of doors with jackboots' imagery that is used, how would it be done? Come up and ask nicely? I suppose there is the legal route, but with 400 something million guns with AR-15 and AK-47 style weapons taking up I don't know how many % of that, even if it was less than 1% or even 1% of 1%, we're still talking about millions which is going to tie up a lot of legal resources. Simply put or tl;dr, it's going to take a LOT of resources no matter the solution. Tom Steyer has already made the October debates. There could be maybe one or two, or three at most, others that make it in. I'm of the opinion that they should still split it down further into debates with 5 or 6 people since having 10 is unwieldly. Unfortunately, theres no simple answer to dealing with a large group of debaters and having it work well at the same time while being on television.
  3. Ann Coulter is apparently impressed by Klobuchar. Not sure if it was a particular moment or overall performance since they didn't quote or refer to anything. Nobody had a huge breakout, but nobody did terrible either.
  4. Did you know you can highlight a block of text and a little button will come up so you can quote that block? Sometimes you have to do it twice though. 'terrible' is relative and subjective here though, as a conservative, you have a different view of 'terrible' than I do. Anyways, was gonna respond more to that post earlier, but the conversation has moved on since. Also gotta wonder how they'd even enforce it in the first place. Plus it sounds kind of like an oxymoron doesn't it, a mandatory buyback isn't exactly a buyback is it? They'd also apparently gotten into an argument over the Taliban invitation to Camp David last night. Naturally, everybody found out about it via tweet. Kind of an odd mix anyway due to the fact that Bolton is such a hawk where Trump isn't.
  5. Fearmongering Latin America or the Mideast I can get, but the Bahamas? That's like, fearmongering for the sake of fearmongering. I doubt the Bahamas are very high on the list of conservative amygdala triggers.
  6. Seriously skarpen, it's the Bahamas. Also, when coming into the US by air, Bahamas residents don't need a visa if they meet other requirements. If he is so concerned about terrorists from the Bahamas, maybe he should change that rule.
  7. I can’t decide whether that second sentence is sarcasm or not. https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/460567-trump-says-us-must-be-careful-about-admitting-people-from-bahamas The Bahamas apparently has just joined the ranks of ‘s***hole countries’ in Trumps view
  8. @amentep: yeah, there’s so many projection types and overlays that they could easily have chosen something that gives it some plausibility without having to edit, which makes the whole thing even dumber. Hell, with a bit of searching (while checking NOAAs Trump butt kissing attempt. Turns out that the cone only hit Alabama for part of the timeline, not all of it) the archives, I found a few that had the cone clip the very southeastern corner of Alabama.
  9. I think he was referring to us Obsidianites when he said that, gfted1.
  10. I haven’t found you to be obnoxious Corcoran, Gromnir often writes posts bigger than what you have been doing. It’s the formatting people were complaining about.
  11. Don’t the House of Lords pretty much rubberstamp everything anyway?
  12. I’d read about that, though it put it in the context of him sitting the whole time while the others had walked around, as if that’d have made a difference. I thought maybe it was a sign of him stressed out or something. Also, *music symbol*Double down.... Double down.... *music symbol* it’d probably go away in 48 hours if Trump stopped bringing it up, heh.
  13. NOPE, not yet! It’ll definitely move down over the next few days though. Who’s the other guy holding up the pic though? Most likely a random staffer, but I just hope it’s not the current FEMA head or other official because it’s not a good look for them either.
  14. He could have also tried to explain how it looked like it could eventually hit Alabama at the time of that projection if it continued the general direction, but the problem is that it wasn’t a one off, it was three times or so and well after the projection changed. I believe he also said or tried to explain away that Alabama simply came up in discussion. Whether it came up in discussion all three of those times, I don’t know, but if it did, well after the prediction change, I have to wonder the quality of his briefings.
  15. It depends on which statesmen/women you’re talking about, there have definitely been Presidents who came from outside politics and weren’t all that great, and I’m not talking about just Trump. Easier to cherrypick with Senators and Representatives though. As for Mattis, I think I saw something with him saying that he wouldn’t publish his book (if he does write one) early unless Trump attacks first, but knowing Trump, that sounds like a direct provocation to attack.
  16. Johnson and Kasich? That’s a bit of an interesting combination. I have a whole bunch in the 90%s, probably because I didn’t mess with the question importance much and most of the immigration questions boil down to pro/anti Trump rather than any nuance. I’d have preferred to be able to select multiple for the ‘who would you pick if 2020 election were held today’ 95% Harris, Buttigeig 94% Williamson, Warren, O’Rourke 93% Sanders 92% Castro, Klobuchar 91% Biden 90% Gabbard, Yang, Booker 82% Delaney 72% Kasich 54% Johnson 31% Trump Also, a funny thing I notice is that for Johnson, he is tagged with both isolationism and globalism, which are opposites.
  17. The fact that it’s so crowded is likely part of the reason since Biden is just the more familiar face for many. Anyways, Marianne Williamson does it again: https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/04/politics/marianne-williamson-hurricane-dorian-tweet-trnd/index.html https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/459883-williamson-deletes-tweet-saying-power-of-the-mind-turned-away-hurricane Her campaign is crying double standard, but seriously, saying that kind of thing is going to come off as weird no matter who says it
  18. Other than ‘CEOs make terrible Presidents’ in general, inexperience would be the main thing. Of course though, inexperience was used against both Obama and Trump, though the level of inexperience is vastly different between the two. As for worse than the politicians, it depends on who you ask and which politician you’re comparing to.
  19. Would said law designed to prevent a no-deal Brexit (which is what they’re attempting to do) stop no-deal via running out the clock? Or maybe it’d automatically use whatever deal is in the works, I could see it working like that. It seems like it’d only deal with the UK side of things because it’d only affect U.K. law, not EU law, which is the article 50 thing.
  20. https://www.cnn.com/2019/09/01/politics/texas-state-rep-praying-for-protection-shooting/index.html When are religious people, politicians in particular, going to realize that god does not work like DnD?
  21. Didn't the breakup between the NRA and Ackerman happen after Oliver North got ousted? Seems kind of silly for LaPierre to complain about billing practices where they both have been doing a whole other world of financial corruption. AFAIK, North wasn't making any effort to clean up finances other than ousting LaPierre. Anyhow, in NRA related tangent I guess, the NRA sues Ackerman again and are claiming that Ackerman is claiming to still support the NRA and having NRA stuff and expousing NRA stuff on their website and the NRA wants them to stop. Not that I care to actually check.
  22. Wuh? Johnson is seriously going through with that? https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-49493632 yeeep..... i thought some had said it’d be political suicide for Johnson to go through with it, plus it’d throw it right into the Queens lap which is the last thing she’d like to happen. And, the Queen accepts the prorogue, why did I think she might put up a fight when she ain't gonna change her ways? *facedesks*
  23. I'd say it's way too early to do a poll like that, not everybody would have their choice set in stone at this point, I certainly don't.
  24. https://www.vox.com/2019/8/26/20833650/trump-g7-trump-doral-explained Something something emoluments and grumble grumble corruption. Really needs pushback from the other leaders in G7, but then again, knowing Trump, he’d just go ‘F-you!’ *double middle fingers* and cancel the summit next year altogether. Boris Johnson might have the easiest time getting the message through, but he doesn’t really seem like the type who’d be able to stand up to Trump.
  25. The David Koch that died earlier today/yesterday?
