  1. Not an optimal party, but very easy to play and virtually no micro
  2. Solo might be though .... What about a fighter (eder), a chanter (kana), a paladin (main), another paladin (pallegina) and a ranger (sagani)? Will do good enough without micro, perhaps respec Kana and have him a ranged DD together with Sagani and sure handed chant. Then you focus on offensive Paladin talents and pallegina on both defensive and offensive becoming a "hybrid", and Eder as a backbone-tank. Edit: consider Hivarias... Druids are easy to play and very good to have... Got everything: Damage (mostly AoE, some single), CC, support, heals. Later on perhaps also Maneha (barbarian) if you have the WM
  3. Give it time.... The npcs will develop once you had them in your party a bit. Many Dialogues trigger after a certain event in the story or after you completed a part of their individual quests. Alternatively, you can always talk to them through a speech bubble in their action bar if you want to experience their characters. The further you develop in the story the more you will talk about. You will also feel more involved once you have progressed within the story and your actions start to affect the world... An early example for an interesting quest (though quite hard) is the raedric-quest. I would recommend doing it anyway: To learn quickly what can work in combat am what not (it's a good test for your strategy), and you see how your actions can greatly influence the story.
  4. When explaining the basics of pillars to my younger cousin he wanted to know if you could even create characters from other games, "like Geralt from Witcher". I liked the challenge of creating such a character, and I ran into problems, which is why I seek your help. Right now the build only exists on paper, so forgive either little mistakes with character points or not remembering an obvious talent. This is what I so far came up with: So, obviously human. M 16 (15 base +1 human) C 10 D 15 P 12 I 14 (for spells) R 10 (9 base +1 human) No min maxing since Geralt should not be especially bad in any given stat. However, let's try to build him more offensive. Now, for a class, I thought of Fighter. That's because the fighter offers a solid base for what is to become a sort-of-witcher, since the class has high stats and doesn't require intensive talent-investments to be good. The first challenge would be to recreate the witcher's spells. Due to cross-class-talents it seems doable. Axii (mind control)-enigma's charm. What else to say? Aard (telecinetic push)-a tougher one. Probably the lesser missiles fit best. Quen (protection)-in the witcher, it absorbs hits for a certain time. Lets recreate that with the lesser holy radiance's healing Yrden (magical trap)-the toughest one to recreate. Since it's the witcher's CC spell, let's go for aspirant's mark... It doesn't captured enemies but still weakens them, so let's go for it. Or perhaps tanglefoot scrolls... But I'd rather use talents than scrolls to be honest Igni (fire)-the fan of flames scroll, so we need at least 2 lore As for gear.... Two greatswords is mandatory, one with kith and one with beast slaying. And some medium armour... Perhaps scale? So, does anybody have any ideas for this build? I need to proof pillar's diversity Thanks for any input
  5. Obviously try a fighter... So much fun and diversity For real: I would say definitely try a priest. With skaens boon and apprentice's sneak attack you can even gain 35% bonus on a sneak attack, and the priest's spells are ridiculously powerful, only on par with the wizard (in my opinion). The melee wizard is a lot of fun to, however, it uses summoned weapons and buffs and several talents. So you need a lot of spell slots thus reducing the amount of CC you can do. Another class I can recommend is the barbarian, they are especially after some levels a ton of fun. Also a spiritshift centred Druid is fun. Monks are as well a lot of fun and a really good tank/DD/CC hybrid, they are perhaps the best and definitely the most fun dedicated melee class
  6. Right, the gloves.... They really are an awesome item, especially so early on. But for this specific build, +2 Dex might not be that useful (get them though-you can always use them on a companion).
  7. I find the Conquerer more interesting... Perhaps because it's exotic? A mercenarie goldpact paladin is of course an obvious choice. But since people only react to your general background, personally I find explorer more intriguing. But it comes down to personal preference
  8. Yes, it is explorer https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/78795-i-explored-all-character-backgrounds-so-you-dont-have-to/ Here's again the link to all the bg, including their dialogue options with Calisca The thing is, people react to your general bg... So if you were a pirate, people will react to you as a raider, if you were a conqueror, people react to you as an explorer
  9. It obviously is... The shield was more of a back-up until you get a pistol/blunderbuss.... As I said, Rardrics keep has a pistol, the first level also has a really bad one in a camp hidden (sneak) on the south west. For RP, as I said, perhaps a conqueror is the same basic idea as a pirate only more... "Official" in a way, would make sense for them to hire mercenaries. Otherwise, big pirates perhaps also would
  10. From what I know, Res has quite a lot of items to increase. Might has also more than Int . So it's probably best to increase Int. Also you really feel the bigger AoE when fighting in big areas For RP, a goldpact seems nice. Perhaps he joined pirates for gold, or he organised a crew when seeing how much miney could be made. Perhaps he also sailed with conquerors
  11. The fun times Durance had, when I dragged those to him with my solo pala.Sadly he didn't survive. Did you help him though
  12. As I said, blunderbuss comes late... You can find a pistol in the first level by a camp near the water, and later in raedric's keep. Stilletos... I always found some. Find the 3 bandits. One was in one of the boxes. You'll manage to find some. At the end of act I you find a pretty good unique one as loot from a spider miniboss For Background: Well, the link
  13. https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/78795-i-explored-all-character-backgrounds-so-you-dont-have-to/ You can find every background with all detail-choices with calisica here
  14. Then you can choose between "All we did was pillage and destroy. It accomplished nothing." "You conquer enough places, it isn't long before it's your homeland they go after." "No amount of plundering has been able to quench my bloodlust. I wonder if anything will."
  15. BTW if you go bleak walker you could think about the cold-blooded adventurer It says ". I sailed with cold-blooded conquerors"
  16. That's nice Thx Haha, first big thing I do o the forum and it goes so well
  17. 18 is Fine as well... So? What's the plan now? BTW if you choose the raider background from Deadfire, you can specifically state you were a pirate to calisica, and it will be added to your in-game biography after the dialogue... Same goes for every background, you can get more specific and it will be added. Also, if you go scientists you can say you were making drugs (go Walter White), if you are a merchant you can become a smuggler, a explorer could have been a "cold-blooded conqueror". A clergyman could have manipulated people. A Drifter could "wander into people's lives and take their money". So, that's for "unexpected" outlaw choices
