I made a thing ^_^

@Kgk4569: in my experience the same is true for Sajan and Kyra. @da_mayor: unfortunately I do not have the card game; making it a bit more difficult to playtest for me. How would you feel about this adjustment: On her primary power: "At the end of your turn bury one displayed blessing and discard the remaining displayed blessings." -

I'm happy to learn from you - knowledge and experience go a long way (I didn't even know about Mythic Paths for PACG). The design intention was as follows: Sajan can get one amazing set of dice each turn (limited to combat) In contrast, Mikiko can get good dice on each check (limited to certain turns only) To emphasize that intention you'll notice that I stiffened up her blessing recovery from before (she can now only recover 1 blessing once a turn). The two roles diverge as follows: Ki Mystic is considerably more tanky and gains another way to recycle blessings Sensei is fragile but gains the ability to help allies -

Everything noted, and I'll make some adjustments in due time. My first attempt was based on eye-balling the various character cards that Google image search provides. All the "missing" cards are technically there, but drivethrucards.com is a fairly generic card creation engine that unfortunately only seems to create the *front* of the card for convenient display. I can give the (current) missing details: Card list: Weapon 1 [2] [3] Spell 1 [2] Armor - Item 3 [4] [5] Ally 3 [4] [5] Blessing 7 [8] [9] [10] Sensei (Role) Hand size 4 [ ] 5 [ ] 6 [ ] 7 Proficient with [ ] Weapons At any time you may display any number of blessings. Until the end of your turn, on each check, each currently displayed blessing applies to the check (as if it was played for the check). At the end of your turn discard all displayed blessings. ([ ] Additionally you may add the Magic trait to any check you make.) [ ] Once a turn you may bury a card to shuffle one random blessing from your discard pile into your deck. [ ] You may add your Wisdom to your combat checks. [ ] When you succeed at a combat check against a bane you gain +2 ([ ] +4) on additional checks against that bane until the end of your turn. Each displayed blessing adds [ ] +1 ([ ] +2) ([ ] +3) to any check. Regarding the power level, I'm happy to be educated: the scenario you describe is exactly how her power is intended to function. I don't have the experience and high-level play knowledge of the game to understand how it would play at later levels, but my calculations place the power level as just a tiny bit weaker than (original) Sajan's power to recharge blessings for combat checks. Where Sajan's peaks in general combat and sustain, Mikiko's would peak in multi-element encounters. The mediocre (d8) dice give incentive to use the power (for example to recharge or acquire boons), but the lack of (easy) blessing recharge should make wanton display of blessings a quick way to run out of cards. By my theory not being at least somewhat frugal with Mikiko's abilities will quickly cause her demise. Banes like the Enchanter will be particularly bothersome for Mikiko to handle. Edit: note that the original images have been updated (the graphic link to drivethrucards.com is always "up to date"); so the character is a bit rebalanced -

@StormbringerGT: you got the inside track, wrestle Nathan, add it to the game. It's in your power man! Believe in yourself! -
Since I got hold of Pathfinder Adventures on my phone and introduced me to the awesome world of the Pathfinder Card Game, the designer in me has been itching to do some creative work in this design space. And since "monks" are my thing (I literally wrote the book), naturally I want the world to meet my take on the PACG monk. Conveniently on www.drivethrucards.com you can easily create your own card ideas (but unfortunately it's not so easy to see them properly): \ The art work comes from the body of art I commissioned for my book (Monk Unfettered), so I believe there is no rights violation with displaying this. Edit: I forgot to mention, the "other" role for Mikiko is Sensei. Unfortunately www.drivethrucards.com apparently only shows the "front" sides of cards.

Okay... so back to the topic. When when when? When are we getting the next scenario? When are we getting more new characters? When are we getting existing character expansions? When are we getting custom dice? When are we getting Wrath of the Righteous? When are we getting a Steam release (my phone battery suffers)? More more more! (Did I miss anything?)

Worst luck stories...
trashcondor replied to hassifa's topic in Pathfinder Adventures: General Discussion (No Spoilers!)
I can confirm we're not skewing them, at several points in time I have had to physically go into the editor and check to make sure nothing was somehow spilling over that could cause it. There has been at least one incident where Stormbringer's usually consistent terrible rolling was a good test case and then some how he rolled a different kind of terrible when I needed the other way... *tinfoil hat* that's what you would say when you secretly skew the dice! Besides, I think normal rolls are fine. My suspicion is purely on that guy "roll 1d6, on a 1 or 2 the result does not matter, redo combat with whatever you have left" -
I don't know which interpretation is correct; but I'd like to point out that the use of "otherwise" is ambiguous in this context as it is not clear whether it refers only to its local context (the sentence in which it is present) or overall context (including the bit about may-avoid). This is what I think causes the confusion between you two. I will, however, concede that there is no definition of what happens when you chose to avoid the boon if you do consider the "otherwise" as local only - so on that basis my vote goes to interpreting it by its overall context (so the boon would be banished).

Iesha Foxglove. I'm fairly sure I've auto-defeated her using the Crown of Charisma - at least she didn't come up again in the scenario. -

I think I should also mention my bad-luck story: on my first playthrough I solo-played Sajan (cause monks are awesome) - and Sajan is pretty self-sufficient and a good candidate for a party of 1. Things went pretty smoothly until I got to scenario 1-5 (Thistletop dungeon); that scenario seems tailor-made to make Sajan suffer. The end-boss Nualia does 1d4 damage that is hard to mitigate for a monk (who at that stage only has a 4-card hand), and the two combat checks are tough and get tougher for every blessing used (which is exactly what monks do). So... my instance(s) of bad luck: I've tried beating Nualia more than three-dozen times, failing several times by a final roll of 1 or 2. But one specific play stands out in my mind because it started with excellent luck: Sajan encountered henchmen and closed 2 of the 3 locations in 4 turns; then promptly ran into Nualia, lost to her by a roll of 2. Then by turn 10 ran into Nualia again and lost to her again by a roll of 1. And then Sajan was dead. -
F2P Strategy?

@Hastur: something nice to spend gold on are treasure chests. Expanding the vault with cool new cards enriches the game which is automatically a win. And you may get cards such as Poog of Zarongel -

Honestly, I have a strong suspicion that the dice are rigged in some instances to be "more dramatic". That specific boss from 2-1... I've encountered him a lot and the first 2 rolls are *always* 1-or-2 (reroll). Usually a 1. I've also seen the 5-1s-in-a-row in my game. Fortunately some of those 1s were when I didn't make the check. Edit: perhaps he was implemented rigged for playtesting purposes and they've not fixed his dice to normal again *tin-foil-hat* -

Now with the impending initial release just around the corner: what is the projected timeline for a Steam release? -
I'm very fond of monks - so much so that I wrote a Pathfinder-compatible PDF on monks: the Monk Unfettered - so if given half a chance I'll play with Sajan. I've only had about 30 minutes of exposure to the (real) card game, but I'm assuming Sajan is a great choice for a 1-man party if he plays somewhat like a Pathfinder monk. Of course... that presupposes that the Steam version will release soon. Any word on that?
-
@Hannibal_PJV: Is that conjecture on your part; or is there some definite indication of that timeline? I've only seen a dev mention that the Steam (and smartphone) versions will take a little longer primarily due to having to adjust the UI. They do not need to do things from scratch after all. Most of the "hard" work is done already, meaning time-consuming things like creating art assets and a generic rules-system that allows cards to be implemented in the game, and testing that the cards work and interact as intended. Additionally, if you primarily look at the market segment on tablets you are severely restricting your client base. There aren't that many tablets out there, compared to PCs and smartphones. It looks like poor business sense to not push to increase your client base as soon as possible.
