Looking at all those fancy GPU's... I need to upgrade my Ti 1050 (4Gb)  some day. I could use more Cuda cores for rendering, but I worry that the trade off is going to be a noisy cooling. My current build (somewhere in this thread) is effectively noiseless.

Have you considered a custom loop? If you go with soft tubing and quick disconnects they're actually not that bad to work on and drain (although you shouldn't have to do that more than once a year to once every two years).

I've bought only EVGA for a long while now and they've all lasted longer, in terms of still running, than my PC's.

Agreed, I'm also a fan of EVGA and only buy their stuff and I've never had an issue (in fact I just upgraded my 1080Ti KingPin to the 2080Ti version, now I just need to get the waterlock and add it into the loop).

    OLED has burn-in issues anyway.

This is a personal anecdote and shouldn't be treated as a universal truth, but I've had a laptop with an OLED display for a couple of years without any issues. Likewise, there are a few people at work with OLED models and none of them have reported any either.

  5. Cool it with the personal attacks, guys.

I thought that was the sole reason that this thread existed? Because who needs well thought out arguments when you can jump to the ad hominem=]

    /s - in case that wasn't obvious.

  6. Given that this is WCCFTech the information could be spot on or completely incorrect...

July seems unlikely though since, as far as I've heard, there still hasn't been any word on board partners getting specifications or samples?

  7. I've not posted my updated rigs yet so I should remedy that!

    The 'laptop':

    • CPU
      6700HQ

    • RAM
      16Gb 2400 DDR4

    • eGPU
      Alienware Graphics Amplifier

    • Mouse
      G602

At some point I'll need to upgrade the laptop's external screen to something higher resolution to offset the weaker CPU but, for the time being, the 1080p screen is working well enough and I got it for free as part of a deal when I sold off some of my old 4790k hardware. I'm also looking forward to upgrading to the new 200Hz 1440p Ultrawide screens when they finally launch, provided they aren't too expensive, and might also spring for the next line of GPU unless they don't provide any significant performance gains.

  8. I'm seriously pissed at all the bitcoin mining going on. It's making it pretty ****ing annoying when you're (STILL! >_< ) in the market for a bleeding gpu...

You might want to consider getting a pre-built, tearing the GPU out of it, and then selling the bits you don't need.

EVGA is also releasing cards on their site at retail pricing although they usually sell out within a few minutes of going up.

  9. The killing floor games are really good! I love both of them, even love the first one as much if not more than the 2nd one. Old game with strong community still.

Yeah, it's a classic although I think I would choose the second one if I could only have one of the two since I really like how they implemented 'smarter' AI as part of the difficulty curve instead of just piling on HP and damage reduction.

  10. Hey I voted Trump, you give me a Libertarian that can stay on point and has a campaign backing them and I'll vote crazy again. Cuz **** the system.

    So... Gary Johnson?

It seems like he would fit your criteria and then some.

  11. He stripped because he thought Gary Johnson was a republican who smoked weed and not a libertarian.

And both points would be wrong since Gary Johnson isn't a Republican and doesn't smoke weed!

    He eats it... ;)

  12.

"Have you ever considered not voting for Republicans and Democrats? If we get enough people to do that we CAN start changing things a little without screwing with the Constitution. It has happened before. You don't see any Whigs running around do you?"

Sure, 7 million paying member of the LP and this one guy is representative of every one of them.

Wasn't that the result of a bet? I could be wrong but I think that's why he stripped.

  13. Meh, honestly I think that the ACLU should have tweaked the wording a bit given recent events.

This seems like a non-story on both sides (the ACLU, who I donate money to and like, ran an ad without thinking about all the implications and some people overreacted because it's the internet - nothing really noteworthy).
