  1. I should have expected some of the responses here.... Oh well, consider this my last post on this forum. Tired of trying to bring anything to this place in the hopes of intelligent discussion.
  2. Back in August 2005, Microsoft confirmed that all MS published titles would cost $49.99. "Microsoft has confirmed that they don
  3. You'll want the HDMI connection if at some point over the next five years you plan on buying a HDTV. The rest is fluff, but the HDMI connection should have been on both SKUs.
  4. It hasn't been cancelled (as of yet anyway). link
  5. Talks about Sony's launch line-up, as well as upgrades to the Unreal Engine 3 - it finally has full support for multi-threaded processors now. article It'll be great to see all the UE3 games running and taking advantage of what the next-gen processors offer.
  6. You make it sound as though the target markets are different, and that everyone that buys a Xbox 360 is doing so for an optional feature. The Xbox 360 is first and foremost a video game console. Just because you have the ability to wirelessly stream music and data from your PC to the console doesn't change the fact that if you're buying a Xbox 360, you're buying one to play video games. I don't understand your fanscination with "next generation living room internet interface", but it's simply a skewed point of view on the purpose of console gaming. The same market that the PS2 dominates, is the exact same market that the Xbox 360 has entered.
  7. Microsoft is pushing their console in the same market that the PS2 dominates. So your four wheel drive and compact car analogy is out. You wouldn't market four wheel drive cars to consumers that drive compact cars, but you would market the Xbox 360 to the same people that own and purchase video game consoles, namely, the PS2. Just because the Xbox 360 has an optional feature for being a media center, and has a marketplace for downloading optional content, doesn't detract from the fact that the Xbox 360 was made for two main purposes, to play games and movies.
  8. It was 5% of the launch units, not 5% of every unit sold to date...
  9. You just seem to have a selective memory by thinking I've never said anything positive about Sony. Just because I think Xenon is a better gaming processor than Cell doesn't mean I'm being negative on Sony. Aside from my personal choice of HD-DVD over Blu Ray for price reasons, that's all I've said about Sony. What more do you want me to say? It's easier to just post the article and leave personal comments out until you judge the reaction of the readers. When you said "that's nice" - I responded with exactly what you're complaining about the lack of - a comment.
  10. I find it incredibly comical that you and the other guy seem to think that I am somehow angry. Microsoft projected 10 million by the end of 2006, and 5 million sold by the end of June. It's coming true, and I created a thread about it, posting a link to the article. Why do you seem so hell bent on changing everything I post into a "would you do that if it was Sony". I'll create threads I'm interested in talking about, whether it be about Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, clouds, hamburger, recycled products, books, movies, or whatever else is going on at the moment. If Sony predicts they'll sell 20 million units in their first 12 months, I'll start a discussion when the news is released on whether they will meet that projection or not. I don't understand the purpose of a lot of the posts directed towards me in a demeaning manner. I've gladly and quickly admitted when I was wrong, or made a mistake on something, and I've never asked for anything in return on what I've been right about. Someone says something positive about Microsoft here that can't be disproven and they're labled a "fanboi", but that same person makes a minor comment that ends up being in error and everyone is ready to pounce to then use that to discredit everything else that's been said.
  11. The reasoning behind "one of" is because there are some people that think Mario 64 made the N64 launch lineup the greatest ever, and other people think that Soul Caliber made the Dreamcast launch the greatest ever. Some people think that having one single ground breaking game is better than having about a dozen good to great games. While other people feel differently. So no, I'm not "basically agreeing with you" because at no point have I ever eluded to the Xbox 360 lineup being weak, which was the term you used. The games are not "subpar", nor are they "weak", that is something I'll never "basically agree with you" on. Um, what? The PS2 is a video game console that plays DVD's, the Xbox 360 is a video game console that plays DVDs. They're both billed as video game machines, it's not apples to oranges.
  12. I'm upset? I didn't realize that. Is my blood pressure ok too, since you know more about me than I do? No, the "fanboi" in me isn't going to claim the lineup is weak, because it's far from it. It's easily one of the best lineups ever for a console less than 12 months old, and there's something for almost everyone. I don't really have an interest in discussing what games I think are good and great, because you'll simply rebute with some remark that will only degrade this thread even further, if history repeats itself. But there are many more games that gamers are buying/renting and playing and having a great time with than just GRAW and Oblivion.
  13. For reference, the PS2 sold 7 million units in its first 12 months, the 360 is on pace to break that by a large margin. But people generally only think of here and now, rather than what is actually unfolding.
  14. They've sold almost every unit they've shipped, how is that sad? The PS2 is still a casual gamers platform, so yes, it's going to continue to sell until games for casual gamers come out on next-gen platforms. The PS3 isn't going to outsell the PS2, neither is the Wii. Their numbers won't be sad either.
  15. About five million people disagree with you. But hey, people here are bias towards the console anyway, so the fact it's had GOTY contenders in both 2005 and 2006 doesn't mean much on this forum. Afterall, you're still waiting for problems that aren't real problems to go away before purchasing one.
  16. What's wrong with the current 360 library? It's already one of the most diverse libraries for a console as young as it is. You have something for almost every type of gamer in the market already.
  17. If they meet their projected statements. I'm not going to just post willy nilly about how console "X" sold "Z" units, but when a there is a claim as to how many units they will sell, and they reach that mark, yes, I'm going to post about it. Sales of both consoles is beneficial to me, personally, so I'd like to see them both succeed on some level, just for different reasons.
  18. Actually yes, it is. The larger the installed userbase for a platform, the more diverse the gaming library will be. On top of that, smaller development houses and publishers will be more willing to risk a product due to the sheer number of users. It's a win/win for everyone involved, especially the consumer. The heating "problems" haven't been a problem. The fail rate of the console was under 5% at launch, and has since declined even further as manufacturing processes have yielded better results.
  19. Company is reaching the projected numbers, and should top 10 million units sold by the end of 2006. 5 million sold "In its fiscal fourth quarter, ended June 30, the firm sold 1.8 million units. In total it has sold 3.3 million machines in the U.S., 1.3 million in Europe and 400,000 elsewhere."
  20. This game is absolutely incredible, I can't wait till more people get a chance to play it.
  21. So now I'm an idiot for talking about a source? Cool...
  22. Since they're using the UE3, they better not have a loading screen every few minutes. The worlds should be streamed since that's a strength of the engine itself. Anything more than a loading screen when landing on a planet will be unacceptable. I'm not really surprised.
  23. I guess we'll just both believe our sources then. I have great faith in the people I talk to though, as they are hands on "in the know".
