  1. Well you and Rosbjerg are my favourite Danes
  2. You don't know much about Iran then. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> (w00t) ....my friend to the contrary, your statement just proves that in fact you are the one that doesn't know one bit about the current political and social conditions in Iran today. I bet on Fox news they say that the Iranian leadership are a bunch of killers who eat small children for breakfast and execute several hundred ppl a day " ....yeah right, it's a constitutional Islamic Republic, their president is the head of government (executive body), and is elected by direct vote of the people for a four year term and could be reelected for another term, cabinet members on the other hand get the parliament vote. The legislative assembly (Majlis) consists of 270 members which are elected for four years. Therefor, Ahmadinejad was elected by Iranian people in a fair elections which can be confirmed by international bodies that oversaw the elections.....yes one can say the supreme leader, currently Ali Khamenei has the most power in Iran, but he hasn't got all the political power in his hands, thus it's far from any dictatorship, Iran is nothing but a theocratic political system instituted some conservative Islamic reforms. Furthermore, Iran is a member of UN and other related International Organizations such as World Bank, IMF, FAO, OPEC and OIC and many other international Regional Bodies. Maintaining independence and rejection of any Foreign domination in all aspects of the internal and foreign policy , is the basic principle of Iranian government. At the same time, Iran is seeking for good and friendly relations with all the nations of the world in order to build up good cooperation except with of course Israel, US and UK. But of course you Yankees think they're anti-Western because they are some crazy brainwashed radical Islamist who hate freedom and liberty, etc....yet again the neverending American hypocritical propaganda at it's best. Anti-US sentiment in Iran isn't just the characteristic of its leader but it's the sentiment of a large majority of Iranian people, did you ever think why....or do you just watch Fox news? Here goes a little History lesson: In 1953 Iran's elected prime minister Mohammad Mosaddeq, was removed from power in a complex plot orchestrated by British and US intelligence agencies in an operation Ajax. The operation was conducted following the Prime-Minister's nationalization of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company. It reinstated the Iranian monarchy against the people's will, handing power back to former Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi - aka - Western pupet. Following Mosaddeq's fall, Pahlavi grew increasingly dictatorial. With strong support from the USA and the UK, the Shah further modernized Iranian industry but crushed civil liberties. His autocratic rule, under which systematic torture and other human rights violations were known to occur, led to the Iranian revolution and overthrow of his regime in 1979. After more than a year of political struggle between a variety of different groups, an Islamic republic was established under the Ayatollah Khomeini by a revolution. Now ask yourselves again - why are they so anti - American? And BTW Iran is going to make a nuclear bomb one way or another and they have every right to do so as much as Israel and they have my support. If the US or Israel wish to end their nuclear program air strikes won't be sufficient enough because some key Uranium enrichment facilities are deep under ground, that way you'll only slow them down. If you try a full scale invasion on the ground you'll eventually defeat them, but the numbers of your casulties, downcrease of US popularity, increasing numbers of terrorist worldwide....yes...yes...you're in for a blast - enjoy.
  3. Actually if you check the dates of those stories in my links you'll see that it's not old news. *UPDATE: link
  4. Something like that....
  5. At first I wanted to ask - what are BioBoards?
  6. Sorry if anyone is annoyed with me bringing this thread back amongst the living but I'm bored and I wanted to bring attention to some recent developments and rumors regarding the topic - Iran. With Iran rejecting offer to enrich uranium in Russia, one of the last chances for a peaceful outcome faded away. Practicley the last chance for a diplomatic solution is the current EU-Iran nuclear talks, but honestly I'm not very optimistic they'll succeed. Not that I think the EU Negotiation Team is incompetent or anything, the reason they are so unsuccessful is that Iran is quite determined to enrich uranium for, as they say - peaceful purposes, but the fact is it can be used to make weapons grade plutonium needed for nuclear weapons. And my opinion is they want to be as battle ready/equipped and capable as their biggest rival - Israel, and that includes nuclear weapons. With Iran spending about $9.7 billion dollars each year on defense purposes, the state of the Iranian military is quite admirable, although far from Israely or US military capabilities. Thus the financial aspect of the Iranian nuclear weapons program (if one does exist) is far from any funding difficulties, so practicley the only thing that Iranians need to develop the bomb is time. Time that is day by day running out for those who see a 'nuclear Iran' as unacceptable and so the chance for a diplomatic solution is also diminishing to a point of military confortation with Iran. There are even rumors and reports of US seriously preparing for a possible war, but those are only wild speculations, anyways there are already so called OPLANs 1002, 1004 and 1019 which are basically the foundations on which a possible military confrotation would be based upon. The other recent development was the 9 companies sanctioned by US for aiding Iranian weapons efforts, though the sanctions will have only symbolic meaning for most of those companies, which have no known dealings with the United States and the sanctions will only ban them from doing business with the United States government or from buying high-tech US equipment and products. Another more deadly rumor for Isreal and its allies is a speculation that Iran acquired ballistic missiles from DPRK and not just any ballistic missles, it's the BM-25 models with a range of 2500 to 4000 km - read more in the article... Many predict, myself included, that with the US Congressional elections in 2006, it's highly unlikely that the United States would launch strikes on Iranian key nuclear sites in the run up to the election. Because, as soon as the election concludes, domestic political inhibitions about the uncertain consequences of striking Iran would be greatly diminished and the pathway for strikes against Iran would be open. As far as Israel launching strikes independently from the US - that is highly improbable, practicley impossible, and in the end the US would end up in that conflict one way or the other as I explained before in this thread.
  7. Well your whining that it's a German rifle just doesn't stand so much, yes the ammunition, solution fire control and training is done by US companies, and what's most important thing in this project is the -kinetic energy weapon- breaktrough done by a US company....weapon development would be done by H&K - yeah that's one of the most important part in development, but guess what - the 'original' H&K based in Germany was supposed to have little to do with the project, just some research, the production and development of the XM8 was mainly going to be the job of its subsidiary Heckler-Koch USA. With all of this - XM8 would be an American rifle just as much, if not more then German. And if anybody has brains which overcome foolish pride in the US Congress and who ever is in charge of the US Joint Service Requirements they are going to embrace this project sooner or later....anyways it goes side by side with the requirements of the FCS, but then again that project has difficulties of its own since the needs of a modern battlefield changed much since the start of the project. Here's a pic of the Croatian HS2000, it's the official weapon of the British army officers and quite recently it became the offical weapon of the FBI. You know why they took our weapon and not some American made Glock, Colt, Berreta....or some German, Swiss, Austrian or Czech - it's because it's more reliable and accurate then any of your handguns, and naturally the FBI took the hardware that will help save lives of their people and not satisfy some foolish pride. You're right, I'm sorry... Actually I don't use globalsecurity.org that much, there are far more better sites for sources on topic....if you think I'm just a lowlife copycat who just lurks around military/weapon threads and then copy-pastes everything from google then you're wrong. But that's fine, you're entitled to your opinion.
  8. Your statement - I don't want it, it's German - just proves the fact you don't know excatly what you're talking about. It's not strictly German weapon, it's a joint development by the US defense contractors and one German. The XM8 Future Combat Rifle was supposed to be developed by ATK Integrated Defense, as the lead company in this venture, which is the system integrator on the XM29 program. Teammates on the program were Heckler and Koch (German) - weapon development; ATK Ammunition Systems ( USA) - ammunition development; Brashear LP (USA) - integrated full solution fire control and Omega (USA) - training systems. The XM8 rifle is weighing 20 percent less than the M4 because of advanced technologies developed for the XM29 program. The prototype weighs 6.4 pounds, with an objective weight of 5.7 pounds. PEO claims it takes one third the time to train a Soldier on the XM8 than the current weapon system. The XM8 is also more reliable. Unlike the current M4 and M16, the XM8 does not introduce propellant gases and the associated carbon fouling back into the weapon
  9. We're not allowed to take any Russian MIG's or Sukhoi's because the NATO standards don't allow for any of its members to buy them, and those Eastern European countries that still have them are strictley advised to undergo replacements <_<
  10. With our defense budget being only about 500 million dollars per year, and most of it going on paychecks, maintance....so there really isn't any serious money for new hardware, although we're currently replacing our old MIG 21's with F-16's or the Swedish Gripen, they didn't decide which one yet....but my relative in the air force says it's probably going to be the F-16's - in my opinion <_< . As far as the tanks go, our MBT is still the old T-72....but I remember from the military exercises with the Americans, we hit our targets with the old T-72's more accurately then the Americans with the M1A1....the whole crowd laughed their pants out , but that was probably because our guys had a lot more XP....
  11. :"> Nitpick mode To be fair, your Leo2 is an A4, the one I posted is the A6. :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I didn't notice, sorry. :D Anyways, I know that Leopard 2 has various modes ranging from A2 to A6, but it's really about some minor improvement by countries who use them....what I wanted to ask is, does the tank on my pic look a lot bigger then yours or what, I mean the turret looks twice the size then the one on your pic?
  12. Hey Lucius that is my tank  .....see the first page, I was firrrrrrst "
  13. Like it
  14. Really I can come?! ) Greeeat, I'll just pick up the mobile version of that cannon and I'll 'light up' the atmosphere in Sweden for the new year celebrations.....it will be a 'party' to remember
  15. Elaborate now and don't make me take a trip to Sweden mister. "
  16. Spacy, however I think this is cooler. - F2000 Edit: Hmm will have to find a different pic. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mmm... sci-fiy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mmmm....that is no sci-fiy Darkside...that is the XM8 Future Combat Rifle project which was supossed to replace the current M4 and M16. ATK Integrated Defense, Plymouth, Minn., and Heckler and Koch from Oberndorf, Germany were in charge of research and production. On October 2005, the XM8 program was formally suspended by the Congress, "pending further US Army reevaluations of its priorities for small caliber weapons, and to incorporate emerging requirements identified during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. The Government will also incorporate studies looking into current capability gaps during said reevaluation.
  17. Yeah, but your air doctrine is to fire missles from great range, rather then engaging in dogfights.....and in today's modern air combat the winner is praticley the one that gets a missle lock first, and the US's approach with the stealth technology is - you can't destroy what you can't see. The MIG 35 was supossed to be Russia's pathway to the new generation of stealth aircraft, but there's no money.....
  18. Although it's pretty old and is planned to be decomissioned by the year 2020, the F-14 is still sometimes the weapon of choice because it's the only plane able to carry the AIM-54 Phoenix Missile..... But hey, try this with any US or European jet and you'll end up six feet under.....too bad the Russian economy can't keep up with the aerospace technologies its scientists come up with, all the pretty planes like the SU 47, MIG 35 or the TU 60 gone with the wind....
  19. The new MIG-31, it can do 3000 km/h and its radars can "see" enemy approaching at 200 km distance, with a few of these flying parallel but 200 km apart, who needs AWACS! And the new MIG-35 has stealth capabilities, with the canard, wing and fuselage structures incorporating carbon-fiber and polymer composite materials. Other stealth features include radar-absorbing covering, screening of radar-visible structure elements, and reduced heat signature. The fifth-generation pulse-doppler radar has a phased-array andtenna with electronic scanning to simultaneously attack over 20 targets.....the production was canceled due to, yes you guessed, insufficient funds <_<
  20. You Britons certainly seem to..... "
  21. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Everybody can tell it's a frikin fake Surre...... " And BTW: Darque here you go in case you weren't kidding...
  22. Look at the size of those balls! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That Moscow 600mm cannon has never been fired or used in combat, it's practicley nothing but another statue. But I agree wolf, just look at the size of those balls.....
  23. Hey I didn't say or mean I hate you, nor did I say you are annoying, just that sometimes your K3 posts are annoying, nothing else. Overall I don't think you are annoying and I actually share your desire too see K3 being made to a great extent.
  24. ......please tell me you're joking.....
