Fallout: New Vegas
No, I think it's too big. Do they have the development time to make it good? Or will it simply be more sparse?

I see - so the point being that you should have been able to try, and go down in flames. Fair enough. I agree that was needed.

It's been widely established that settings-wise Obsidian would not have been permitted, or have found it prudent, to allow the player to mess with the God and his back yard. Besides which, I liked it. Sometimes, even if you do all the hard work and justice is on your side, the world doesn't turn out the way you want or the way things should be. I loved that. It fit the story. That final 'failure' completes Kaelyn's symbolism as well.

What are you playing now?
The Longest Journey, then it's Gabriel Knight 2. King's Bounty is $10 and keeps tempting me, but I've already been spending...

O hai forum, some news today?
That reminds me, should pre-order sometime. Since you know, pre-orders and early sales seem to impress all the investors.

Winter Olympics, eh.
From what very little I've heard, Korea got a gold medal, and one guy was coming in firstu ntil he switched to a wrong lane for a second and disqualified himself. No idea why the Olympic sports have to be so uptight about that stuff, really.

That looks a lot better, a lot more impressive and eyecatching. Good stuff. Also the world is gonna be up in arms about Australia getting it first for whatever crazy reasons, but hey, I'm happy

Damn. The subtitle patch is the one I really want, I turn it on for everything. I guess I'll use the time to play TLJ. Finished the download, though - at 2.4gb I guess this one has a lot more horsepower going for it.

*shrug* be fair, boo. DA is a very solid and well-received game right off the bat and it makes sense to do 'more of the same', even if something a little more out of the way is to be hoped for in terms of setting and level design. NWN2 had a pretty dreary main campaign (I seem to be one of the few that enjoyed it) and MOTB had to be a 'redemption'.

Yeah.. if it was difficult to assassinate him, you'd think it's much more realistic that Loghain delays his men, exposes Cailan and gets him killed, then comes in to 'save the day' and become the hero of Ostagar.

I'm pretty bad with puzzles, I do mean the bit with the tree and the egg. I usually end up using the walkthrough in later sections of adventure games, but it is more fun when I can go without..

I've finally got GOG's The Longest Journey to work on Windows 7. Having played the sequel first, the graphics look pretty dated, but still beautiful landscapes - wonder if I can make the AA work somehow. Typically, I'm stuck on the very first puzzle, but it should be good. I'll wait for what they pull out of the bag this week or whatnot, but might end up getting Caesar 3 anyway.

Fallout: New Vegas
Perhaps we can move on from this unrealistic fantasy of a black and white world where there is a hivemind of angry FO3 haters? No? Yeah, probably not. That said, you've found out he actually updates the Obsid blog, so awesome. I thought this was something that could backfire as well, because unlike in MW or OB, it was harder to tell whether some barricades were impassable - in Washington where it's all convoluted anyway I spent a lot of time trying to climb past several piles of rubble before deciding they cant be. Maybe they could...

Ubisoft DRM confirmed to boot you from your singleplayer game when the net drops out
That's a fair enough move. Would be good for them to release the findings publicly.

Agreed, the endgame was boring smudge because what could have been a great siege/battle thing was reduced to waves of samey darkspawns. At least in the Deep Roads you found some lore and unique bosses. I didn't mind the tower quest much, it's not too big a deal when you're just playing the game - not to mention it's not that easy to find all of them.

You're pretty on target here I think, Purkake. The problem is not yet overwhelmingly obviously serious enough for all the suits to get up and take notice and say "we gotta deal with this and DRM isn't working". There's no real conclusive evidence out in the public OR in the industry in general. Until it happens...

But you're not going to question why the dilemma comes up to begin with? These lines of reasoning wear the attractive mask of pragmatism, but are super thin.

Civilization V
Good to see apolyton going strong. I'm really worried about one feature though: that you can't stack units and such. Normally I'd be happy, but look at the size of those hexes in the screens. They're massive! They're as big as, if not bigger than, Civ4 ones in comparison to the terrain. Essentially now you have one group of archers occupying an entire mountain, 2 units of catapults enough to blockade a narrow crossing. I'd have wanted nothing more than those hexes to be half as small, allowing for some real sense of scale and some real armies. As it is, you're gonna have a small platoon of hoplites cover 500 square kilometres or soemthing. Sounds like more steady evolution, otherwise.

Guys, don't make me the bad guy. Even though I secretly enjoy it and like to wear a MODERATOR hat in front of the mirror at night. I actually think/hope this will turn out to be a good thing - i.e. the piracy/DRM debate is pretty taut these days, you have the DRMers doing something ridiculously stupid like this, and you might get a wider recognition that it just isn't the right way to go. It'll also give some fuel to those claiming piracy is okay, though, so it's all touch and go.

Voiced PC in RPG's
*shrug* if it's a nameless protagonist a la ME / DA, of course not. If it's a set protagonist, why not?

A reminder that while we can discuss this issue and express our content/discontent, actual proclamations about intents to engage in unlawful activity means a smiting is afoot. Again, my primary concern here is with gamers that won't know this until they buy the game, who will pay for it *and* get screwed over. I'll be checking the local shops to see whether it's labelled prominently.
