  1. So, after the chant reload nerf I wanted to try something new for yet another PoTD run. I'm gonna play 6man (expert mode) w/out ANY pull abuse. I think the game is way more fun if you try to don't cheese AI too much. I'm an old BG player and I hope that some amazing difficult mode will come out sooner rather then later (ascendancy anyone?) but meanwhile I wanna give the game another try. Here are the classes that I have already picked because, well, I just like them and the general playstile. Moon Fighter Tank 19 Might 15 Con 4 Dex 18 Per 4 Int 18 Res Not too much to say on this one. He will be the main tanker. 19 Might it's there for retaliation. Wood Elf Rogue 18 Might 10 Con 20 Dex 19 Per 8 Int 3 Res This is a concept that I would like to try after the reload/arbalaster Nerf. An high disrupter DPS character using hunting bows (with horrible will save, I should add .p) Coastal Aumaua Cipher 21 Might 10 Con 18 Dex 3 Per 18 Int 8 Res My old good friend Cipher. I like to micro switch blunderbusses for sweet actions What did not make the cut: - ranged chanter: reload nerf make me want to look for something else, honestly. - paladin: I played it has an off tank twice and let me say, I love the class concept but he should gain some more love from devs as well what I'm looking for: -off tank: should I use retaliation a bit more with a barbarian (a bit too op imo) or a rouge? Or should I go with a summoner Chanter to gain a better utility overall? -support: I was used to love my Priest, +10 acc feat on Arquebus was no joke in a ranged DPS party but maybe this is the time to drop it for something else? Keep in mind I hate to rest a lot in POtD so I try to avoid spell spam has much has possible, I don't like to pick extra spells per level has feat for example and I focus more on debuff plus phisical damage, at least usually. - another DPS: can be anything, just not another Cipher to not hurt with variance. From utility/damage wiz to a melee toon (I never used a dedicated phisical DPS toon in this spot for my PoTD runs, so that could be a new thing for myself!). Thx for your advice
  2. For my last PoTD 6 man run (hard mode) in which I try to don't abuse split pull/pathing tecniques I'm playing with 2 hard tanks, more or less One is the quite standard fighter 0 dps with dump str/dex, even if right now I think you can avoid this kind of min/max if you are used to PoTD enough. Second is a Paladin based on the shieldbearer feat himself. 10 str 10 con 3 dex 15 int max perc/resolve I went for hearth Orlan, since he can still make a good use of helms and if u want to have that OPPA OPPA moon godlike I think he's better suited for the main tank (btw I'm playing with 2 orlans, I just love those cute races ) 15 int it's a bit strange, but I'm trying to use it has another buffer for the team AND decent int has a good sinergy with the + deflection lay of hands feat. I still think that has an off tank you can be less focussed (aka have more DPS) with more hybrid/aggressive builds but let me say that I have honestly no problems tanking big encounters while I focus on ranged DPS. If you try lay of hand, just remember to avoid improved lay of hands, that feat is useless since it's very low value!
  3. Yup there is no point to have both int/dex since all the build is based on proc's. I tried something pretty close the 1st few days and I have to say this char is quite impressive
  4. Well, it's up to team set up and what you want to do with class slot. Right Now I restarded a second PoTD mode with Sit1+2 "tanks": Fighter / Off Tank Paladin (the order that gives the feat +8deflection on lay on hands) DPS utility: Priest (the order that give +10precision with blunderbuss) + chanter ( recharge song) Heavy DPS: Rogue + Cipher The whole ranged set-up have the fast recovery feat for ranged weapons. Cipher and Priest are both Island Aumaua for weapon switch. Chanter is a death Godlike couz I love+int on utility chars Rogue is a wood elf didn't wanna bother with extra switch AND you have that super sweet fast xbow in the shop of the game, so why not? Characters are min maxed (paladin required a bit of theorycraft and I'm still not sure if I got it right) but for the "team arrow" the stats are quite the same: cap might cap int cap dexterity 10 cos 1 dump stat. Working very well so far, even if I think it's quite a common set up Cipher and Rogue do have nice sinergies, since cipher has good debuffs (imba flank spell anyone?) and a good mix of aoe/single target nukes. Rogue instead is the best single target cookie cutter in the game, and that can help a lot in some fights IMO.
  5. First thing you should know about myself is that I'm a long infinity games player and an HEAVY min/maxer. I played BG2 (ee or not) so many times with ALL the hard mods installed and Maximum difficult. I have finished IW Hearth of fury a couple of time as well (even if that game is way TOO EASY to be fun if you know the engine well enough). After 2 runs I would like to share what I'm thinking about the game: 1st: rest future is HORRIBLE. This future basically make unplayable in a min/max set up classes that heavily use abilities per rest. Why should I even use a Wizard IF I can DPS out with a Cipher and CC with a Chanter? 2nd: I'm still a newbie, but hybrid classes and melee DPS doesn't seems the way to go. This game is MUCH CLOSE to IW heart of fury then BG IMO, and that's a BIG weak for the game. There are just big paths of mob until later on and once you know to counter opponents burst/cc/abilities the game is fair easy at any point Aggro mechanics are dumb, and if you are using melee DPS characters you will have to micro manage them way too much to make them appealing. Why should I micro my melee pally if I can have 2 "do nothing" tank that counters alone 90% of mobs while I can CC/DPS in ranged form? My party and why I run this toons 2x Fighters This choice is brainless imo. Chanter Tank is cute but summonings are useless if you can just aggro the majority of the pulls with this two characters. They are basically a retarded perma CC for most of the adds / enemies and you are more then sure that they can NOT die at any stage of the game. Why bother with other melee classes? 1Cipher+1rogue (ranged) To be honest I just don't know why I shouldn't run 2x Cipher (or even 3) in this spot. The dps of the class is retarded, the mana rec is retarded thx to guns and fast switch. Rogue is ok since he can burst a single target, but it's way worst overall. 1 Priest+1Chanter Support combo, chanter provides you way too much utility from better recovery + better DPS (ranged song) and provided OP abilities at the mid of the fight (did I say AOE STUN?). Priest is there to counter opponent CC and damage burst even if I don't like the class since, oh well, the rest future is HORRIBLE and the abilities they got for fight and not for rest doesn't doo enough, so I think it's another sub weak class in the end. I wonder what people think of the game and what set up they use in hear of fury mode. And I keep using Heart of Fury because it's his true name BTW I think I should go back to modded BG until they don't balance classes and/or some good mods are implemented
