  1. Reinstalled the game, loaded the save in my stronghold, tried to rest and when I entered the 2nd floor of the keep, black screen struck again. On a side note, I was able to edit my team before moving to the bedroom, however when I tried to include Kana, it became broken again. Black screen showed up both with and without making any changes in my team prior to the gamebreaking bug.
  2. Thanks for your replies, Sking and BMac, but my problem does not concern Raedric's Hold, the issue described in the linked thread. I can move around the map freely and I believe that if I chose to stick to the team I've got now, I would be able to continue. At least for some time and not about Kana's storyline. I'm not stuck anywhere and don't need Scotty to beam me up. As long as I don't try to sleep at my private stronghold or edit my team, the game continues but I don't want to risk spoiling myself any more of the plot just to have it crash completely in an hour or so. The party roster is already broken in the save I provided. Just try to leave the area and you'll notice that whatever team you pick, you will always be stuck with the one you've got now, minus the chanter, Kana, if I recall his name correctly. Here's a save made earlier before I decided to go to my stronghold. I loaded it with hope that it's bug-free. It's not... https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18184780/1.rar There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it and when it was made, I was not aware that there are any problems. The initial save I provided was made right after this one. I went straight to my stronghold. Here's a save after I decided NOT to go to the stronghold, jumped a little around the map and went to Slaver's Bay. Notice that Kana is standing idle in the inn and you can talk to him while it's impossible to have a conversation with an off team character I found in barracks in my stronghold. Everything in the save seems to be ok until I try to include Kana in my team (in "bartender's menu"). https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18184780/2.rar This save was made moments after the save above, right after I decided to include Kana in my team. First, I removed everyone, then decided to create a team with Kana and nothing happened, and then I made one more team without Kana. As you should be able to see, I'm standing alone, even though my team roster (in "bartender's menu") says that there's 6 people in my team. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18184780/3.rar When I leave the inn, I'm still alone. I'm stuck with whatever team I had before choosing to compose a team with Kana in it. The save below is an autosave made when I left the inn. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18184780/4.rar Please note that the 4 saves are fresh, i.e. I loaded my old saves and saved again in order to be able to provide you with the right save. The save files are not exactly named in any user-friendly way I also didn't want to rename them and that's why they are packed. I'll try to reinstall the game. It will take forever to download from Slow Old Games, though. Should have bought a Steam copy...
  3. Then the issue is even worse than it seems to be. After some testing I must say that my party roster management is totally broken. I seem to be able to access all regions but my party roster in party choice menu says something else than my actual list of attendance. The game is officially broken and I'm officially cranky. If the patch fixes it, we're good. If not, I want my money back.
  4. It's said that the bug is caused by removing the bard from your team. If you do so, sooner or later you'll experience black screens, even if you accept him back. Before purchasing this game, I completely forgot that Obsidian is the buggiest game developer ever, even worse than Paradox Interactive. Well, it's too late now
  5. Great... So, my game is permanently (aka until next patch) broken...
  6. "Hard" is not really hard for me. Yes, if you go too deep in a place that should not be named in a spoiler-free environment, you'll get overwhelmed if your level is too low.But if you pay a little attention to strengths and weaknesses of your foes and your team was mustered with some basic foresight, or consists of characters pre-made by Obsidian, only awful errors of judgement will force you to replay battles. Scout the terrain and deploy your people properly, use simple area spells and ranged weapons to strike a decent first blow and most importantly, don't try to burn dragons or freeze snowmen. Mungri's description of difficulty levels is accurate so simply make sure that when attacked by a group of 15 little wankers, focus on weak ones that deal a lot of dmg, and only then proceed to the tougher ones. Most characters also have skills that debilitate groups of enemies at once, so it's really not that hard. Imo, on "hard" difficulty there's a little too many encounters with cannon fodder. They are no threat but they just suck unbelievable amounts of time if you want to deal with them without wasting all of your magic and skills. Therefore if someone is struggling on hard, I'd suggest moving to normal. The game will be much faster and you can always build yourself a wizard with high perception or an exceptionally intelligent warrior if you want to increase difficulty a little.
  7. Hi, the game is reported to have plenty of extremely harmful bugs. So far I've been free of them (at least I thinks so). Until now. When I try to climb the stairs to the 2nd level of my keep where my team can rest, the screen goes dark right after loading screen. I still hear voices, I can apparently call up game menu, mouse cursor is visible, however everything else is simply pitch black. There's no screencap attached because it would simply be a black screen with mouse pointer on it. As I said before, it's reactive so it changes depending on where I move it. I need to alt-tab the game and turn it off using standard windows' tools like clicking the "x" on the miniature in the taskbar or by right-clicking -> close it. There is no apparent crash. In the save provided, just try to rest in the keep and the issue will appear. I'm running the GOG version of the game. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18184780/PoE.7z (save file, log file and dxdiag) I haven't experienced other issues with the game other than it's impossible to launch it when Torbrowser is running. An inconvenience of completely negligible significance because I use Torbrowser only to bypass things like regional limitations for youtube videos. Focus on the black screen, please!
  8. Well, this doesn't really look like a good place to report a bug, nevertheless, here it comes: the second of the 4th level Durance's spells (adoracja wiernych - adoration of the faithful?) is not described properly. Its effects in the stats section of the spell, do not match effects described in its description below. It says e.g. that the "wizard" is unable to cast spells when it's active. It also mentions grimaurs that are something not used by priests. Also, whoever translated Durance as "Niezłomny (invincible/indomitable/steadfast)", has completely belied his creator's intentions.
  9. The conversation starts . At least it was the case for me. I know that spoilers are allowed on this forum but I hate them myself so bad that I'll do my best to avoid them whenever possible The initial post approval period has nothing to do with being a back/paying customer etc. It's a forum spam prevention measure that applies to all newly registered forum members. We had - as many forums have/had - a really bad spam-bot problem some time back (despite other antispam measures in place) and it was part of the solution. It's not perfect but it does keep the spambots from taking over. Yeah, I understand but still, this is a support forum, at least in some sense. I'd strongly prefer account validation based on game ownership or something similar, over this. It's like with DRM: even though the mechanism is not meant to hurt clients, they are the ones affected. I think the main issue with Eder is resolved. If anyone is still reading this thread, how was the issue of GOG release's updates handled, i.e. where to look for them? I'm really looking forward to a patch that would eliminate the (luckily) rare bug when my crossbowmen start sliding in random directions when reloading, sometimes even through walls. Will the game update on its own or will I have to manually download a patch from GOG?
  10. Um, the journal doesn't really say anything productive about the quest in that moment. It does not update after the skirmish and it just leaves you hanging. The thing is there's nothing to worry about and it's not a bug. It's just a shortcoming of the quest. It's confusing but it has a natural followup that will trigger a little later when you play a little more, roo. Imo, the thing that happens next should be triggered much earlier because if you choose to explore your new keep's undergrounds like I did, it's not going to trigger for hours of gameplay. Also, this admin approval thing seriously irks me. A paying customer needs to get approval before he can access basic support? It's silly. I thought my post was still waiting for approval because I couldn't find it on the forum and when I finally accessed my profile, there was a link to this place, buried under tons of other posts.
  11. First of all, the game set my language to Polish by default and as befits a magnificently lazy person, I failed to change it to English, so I'll be guessing most of quest names, titles, et cetera. So, when you meet Eder, you get the quest to bring him along when you'll be chatting with Maerwald the Wacko. I complied, he even delivered the final blow when our little chat got somewhat out of hand, but according to my journal, I'm still supposed to bring Eder to Maerwald. I think it's clear now that decapitation of the Wacko may slightly complicate things for me. Is this a bug or I shouldn't worry and everything's gonna be ok a little later? If the kind soul that delivers me the answer could do it without including any spoilers, I would be twoplus grateful. Btw, since I'm already here, does anyone know how the GOG version is going to update itself? There are some minor bugs that are likely to be fixed soon and since all other GOG games I own haven't seen a patch in a decade or so, I was wondering. There's no "check for updates" button in the game itself either.
