  1. Is it so hard to comprehend that they used the d20 rule system as a reference for the rules, but didn't actually use it to the letter?

I comprehend it quite readily, but I objectively see as a detriment and not as a bonus.

So, if you playing a PnP game and the DM decided that a particular rule was not fun and ruining the experience, and discounted the rule, you would say he is a bad DM? Because the only thing that matters is sticking the rules 100%?

  2. So why use the PnP game rules in the first place when they could just make a whole new rules set and make it even more "fun" while being innovative and not butcher the PnP rules to begin with?

Why make a new rules set when you can use aspects from one already built to fit your game?

If you canot follow the rules of the game then the game is nothing.  They needed to be consistant on both counts and they failed.

Incorrect. The rules you refer to are the rules of PnP Star wars, not the rules of Star Wars CRPGs.

  3. The problem is obvious since it doesn't adhere to the rules of the PnP game. I don't see it as subjective since the game obviously doesn't mirror the PnP game.

Thats because the purpose of the game was not to follow the rules, it was to provide a fun experience to those who buy it. If breaking the rules makes the experience better, then breaking the rules is what has to be done.

Nowhere on the box or in the advertisements does it say that this is PnP mirrored exactly on a computer. Its a computer game based on a PnP system.

  4. Well, these are the powers I've chosen for my Rodian, given the 5 Dice

    3D Sense

    1D Alter

    1D Control

    Sense Powers

    Life Detection

    Danger Sense

    Combat Sense

    Magnify Senses

    Life Sense

    Receptive Telepathy

    Alter Powers

    Telekinesis

    Control Powers

    Short-Term Memory Enhancement

    Control and Sense Powers

    Lightsaber Combat

    Sense And Alter Powers

    Dim Other's Senses

    Control, Sense and Alter Powers

    Affect Mind

Is that total right? 3 Powers for every 1 dice in a particular force area?

  5. Follow the rules of the game or the game is worth nothing.  They either should adhere to the rules established or came up with their own system.

    Ridiculous.

    If the the options are

    a) Use the rules without changing them and have a worse game because of that.

    or

    B) Modify the rules to work better in a real-time PC environment

I'd choose b everytime. Of course, I'd prefer a new rules set designed solely for the game, but thats not possible in every case.

  6. Almost everyone I know, including myself, left him to die, because we didn't think there was any option to save him. Took me two plays, after reading on some forum that I could save him.

I still didn't know you could save him.......how????

I saved him on my first playthrough, because I played that scene like I expected JC would, by staying back and defending him. (What kind of brother are you to abandon Paul?!).

All you have to do is stay in the room and fight the MiBs, and get killed. You and Paul end up in captured by the MiBs.

  7. What was really pathetic in KOTOR was that idiots from Bioware used the title Darth which shouldn't appear at all in this time period. It only shows us how weak knowledge about EU have developers of original KOTOR (not to mention about other flaws).

Maybe Darth Bandon was Darth Banes great great great.... great grandfather.

  8. I tried to save Dustil, but Carth killed him.

I played LS. So I refused to side with either Sith on Korriban, and killed them both. So when I reented the Academy, all the Sith start attacking me and Carth shot his son in the head.

Then Carth was stuck in a dialogue tree going "I don't care about anything but saving Dustil."

I never got the Dustil quest...

  9. (Unless it's a good Carth killin') I'd like to see puzzles in dialog (think back to the who's telling the lie dantooine quest, please.),

That was a very good quest. I'd like to see more of them, but I'd like to see them make it much harder to pick the right one. It was pretty easy to find out the truth, just by going through all the conversation options.

Jolees friends trial was also good, especially since it didn't have a real happy ending.

  10. If you define educational as something that adheres to your particular flavor of political views, then I'm sure the film is quite educational.

I watch Moores films and I find them thought provoking. Of course, you can't take 1 source, especially one as partisan as Moores, to be the whole and complete truth, just as you can't take a news source like Fox News and expect unbiased coverage.

The truth is always in between the various Journalists stories and almost never told completely.
