  1. Do people still care about posts counts this day and age?
  2. We already have a thread for this in Computer & Console and this is not the place for it. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/80155-chris-avellone-leaves-obsidian/

  4. Arcanum, the game so bad Chris Avellone leaves a company to drop his obligation to play it. But seriously, I'm shocked. He's one of the cornerstones of the company.
  5. Guys, this has nothing to do with journalism, bias, sexism or whatever in the game or entertainment industry. Please tackle the ball and not the player and don't derail this any further. If you guys have personal problems, work them out in a private way like e-mail, private messages or smoke signals.
  6. I have lots of those little joysticks he used for the wiper and the little pieces that make up the side mirrors in my old lego collection from when I was a kid, I don't have any of those curved blocks though.
  7. In my opinion, it seems a bit insulting that instead of creating an interesting character of whatever ethnicity/race(black most of the time) they insist on changing a white character into a black character. Like putting on blackface and saying that's good enough. I notice you guys have conveniently ignored my solution to this whole Magneto issue. Why can't he be a black Jewish character? You do get black Jewish people...yes I don't think any black Jews were kept in concentration camps but its a comic...we do allow artistic licence ? Let's make him transgender too. If we put all our ethnic and sexual minorities in one character that leaves more room for other white characters.
  8. I don't think he does: https://youtu.be/apQPaduDRVw?t=15
  9. Yeah, it's pretty obvious why they do it. It's just that it comes with its own set of problems, including that as a minority the only way to be represented is to start white. Seriously though, these disingenuous stunt race/genderbenders seem counterproductive more than anything else to me simply because of the amount of controversy they create. They're not doing it for inclusivity, they're doing it for news coverage, and it seems to be creating more opponents than proponents.
  10. I'm relatively certain our drunken **** surpass yours, because ours start much earlier.
  11. Just lucky I guess then.
  12. Weird, I've been riding bikes since I was a little kid (it's pretty much my main mode of transportation, I hate cars) and I've never had a flat. I did once have a frustrating tiny leak that would slowly deflate my tire every night and I'd have to pump it back up every morning.
  13. Continued from here: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/79649-journalism-and-bias-in-the-gaming-industry/page-38 Same ol' stock description starting every thread here: For the uninitiated: The 'Gamergate' controversy was sparked in early 2013, as the release of Zoe Quinn's "Depression Quest" was criticized from gamers who believed that the game had received a suspicious amount of attention in relation to it's quality and scope. Eron Gjoni (Zoe's ex boyfriend) wrote a blogpost accusing Quinn of having had an affair with Kotaku journalist Grayson, prompting the critics to conclude that the attention and success of "Depression Quest" was due in part to unfair bias and nepotism in the industry. Several articles from both sides of the issue has highlighted inconsistencies in the stories of both Grayson, Quinn and Eron as well as the many other examples that have followed. Gamergate is wideley seen in the public, as a culture war over the diversification of gaming, artistic recognition and social criticism of video games and the gamer social identity. For the posters in this thread: Many bloggers and populists have tried to steer the discussion into areas they feel are the underlying issue - ranging from simple bias, to widespread misogny or misandry. I would however prefer that we keep this discussion as objective and clean as possible and so I will be keeping an a extra close eye on this thread. This certainly does not mean that you may not discuss any issue you feel, but rather that you should be thoughtful of how you discuss it with those you disagree with. 14. New thread going up shortly.
  15. This was the most interesting read on the subject so far. Thanks for that!
  16. You know what though? More diversity in gaming would be awesome. I defended The Witcher and Kingdom Come because of their context as slavic mythology and truelife medieval setting respectively, but I sure as hell want to see more diversity in games that don't have such a context. But then I look at that article and I see a tweet like "we can play 800 diff pokémon but one diverse trainer is too much to ask" and I realize that these people will just make **** up. This is what my toon looked like when I was playing through Pokémon Y: Then there's the female variant: Sometimes I wonder if there'd be this much internet backdraft about it if the "progressive" could just stop lying through their teeth for one second.
  17. Starting to remember why I dropped out. Just got a message from a professor that he doesn't have time to even TALK to me until September. At least I've got other options than talking to this guy.
  18. Is it, though? To be told that their unique culture and background is just white stuff and nobody would care if it got replaced with cooler black stuff because there's already so much white stuff? But that's not what's told in the article. Yeah it is? Slavic culture is less equal than chinese, african or indian culture because the value of their culture is overriden by the fact that they're white and there's already so much white stuff. That's what the text says. Regardless of the fact that there are very few slavs or slavic cultures in games, much less so I would say than there is chinese culture. You can't put a slav, despite of his culture or the fact that slavs are second class citizens and discriminated against on the level of any other minority in Europe, in an African story because he is white (that would be whitewashing, which is bad) but you must put African people in a slavic story because they are not white (that would be racebending, which is good). Slavs are "white" and therefore don't count towards "diversity" because skin color is all that matters. You have to do a whole lot of semantic nonsense of to get to an interpretation of that text where the writer is not a terrible human being.
  19. Is it, though? To be told that their unique culture and background is just white stuff and nobody would care if it got replaced with cooler black stuff because there's already so much white stuff? Pretty much, yeah.
  20. Does this person realize how freaking discriminatory that is towards slavs? That's as bad as my late grandpa yelling about how pollacks were stealing all the jobs. I mean my god, how insensitive can you be while at the same time pretending to be the good guy?
  21. That's why it's average consumer playtime, not average campaign length. But I just realized it's a dumb idea anyway, since that means nobody can refund it until there's an average. EDIT: Boogie's opinion: Anyone who thinks this policy bad is probably delusional or trying to get clicks.
  22. Good point. Some kind of curve, possibly?
  23. So the problem is Steam's arbitrary 2 hour limit? Make it "5% of average playtime" or something instead, wouldn't that mostly fix it?
  24. Superbunnyhop (ridiculous channel name, great and smart critic) has about the definitive feature on Game Length as far as I'm concerned.
  25. And a new https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/black-angel-a-fantasy-feature-film#/story indiegogo campaign is up to try and get a feature produced. And John Rhys-Davies and Rutger Hauer have been cast. Cool.
