  1. Don't know why, but I'm incredibly relaxed. I swear I haven't been this relaxed in about twenty years. I think it must be the weather or something. It's like my mind, body, and soul are a tin bucket full of clear spring water. In the shade of a big assed tree. Drugs consumed: one cup of black coffee, no sugar.
  2. Krez makes an interesting point here. In the world of 'free' information exchange, the only defence may be to employ a 'bodyguard of lies'. Something like the one man XX Committee.
  3. Having a lady scream at banshee pitch whenever you swore would be awesome. Like the cannons in the 1812 overture. I also like 'holy pus explosion', for the Batman reference if nothing else.
  4. What kind of work do you do that requires you to do research on these kinds of subjects? Well, I don't work for the Disney corporation...
  5. Note to self: while it is excellent practice to begin the day by immediately setting down to work, it can have drawbacks. Ploughed straight into data on rapes of babies and small children in Africa, by individuals seeking to cure themselves of HIV. Realised I was crying when I went to make coffee. FFS, world.
  6. My intent was not to highlight Open Office, but rather the degree of inventive swearing extreme situations trigger. Do you have a preferred phrase, Gorgo?
  7. My eyesight has started to go with old age, and I can assure you when it does that ALL graphics start to look that way.
  8. Join the obsidian steam group. SoDOFF.
  9. Hah! Love it! About goddamn time. I'm actually going to mention this to my contract provider and see what they can do for me.
  10. Used a few seconds ago to address formatting shenanigans in Open Office: "What in the name of blue sparking f*** keeps doing that?"
  11. Maybe fleshweld mirrorshades to his head like in Mona Lisa Overdrive?
  12. Finished second play through of Dead Money yesterday. It really is as awesome as I remembered. Big-ish Spoilers:
  13. More likely hype via false shortage as with lots of new release electronic fripperies; SO MUCH DEMAND WE HAVE LITERALLY RUN OUT OF INTERNETS!!!1!!! HOPE YOU AREN'T MISSING OUT!!! BE IN QUICK ETC ETC. The demand would have to be more insane than the love child of Caligula and George III to trouble Google. +1
  14. Not bad, I'm just not in the mood today.
  15. Surely that's like... having sex with Satan then never calling.
  16. Stuck at the work, and felt better for it. Took a break for dinner and some Dead Money. Back to work now.
  17. Feeling really cranky all day. Took time out and played a bit of Dead Money, but that only made me feel more tense. Think may have to knock it on the head and head out to the park, lie in the sun. Already done most everything I had to today.
  18. High as a giant gorilla atop the Empire State. It's just something that has always interested me. A lot of people dislike it because they don't understand it, but then I notice they either had horrible maths teachers or never bothered to even try at it. But hey, what do I know, I only tutored kids in it for 2 years and study it as my second science major. None of which disproves my 'high as an exploded suicide bomber' theory. You have obviously just been high quite a long time.
  19. I'm not mapping my social life. Which now I think about it would be like mapping Tuvalu.
  20. High as a giant gorilla atop the Empire State.
  21. I presume you've seen Leaving Las Vegas?
  22. Ditto here. I think I was playing at too high a level, and was only interested in the NPCs. At low level simply survival exploring is enough of a challenge.
  23. No no.. He's a lawyer.. he should do it via Origami.. I mean, he should have plenty of documents and lawbooks to utilise... Hence the barbecue.
  24. On the surface that's a good counter. However, the central paper he references is pretty weak. Of the other reports he mentions, only the Ernst and Young one looks genuinely compelling, although that's not a link to the actual document. The Lloyds example he cites, for example, is not an internal brief. It's a kind of press release, and written by a chap who has made his writing career on the basis of climate change being dangerous. I have several friends who work in underwriting if there has been any genuine shift in behaviour, although it will have to wait until I next see them.
  25. Funny you say that, I'd be happy to swap. Bloody hate the south of England with a passion. Don't get me wrong. I'd take your patch (Sheffield, I think) any day. Or, frankly anywhere with a bit of character like Harrogate or Durham. His real trouble is that after the Army he expects someone to wheel people in to meet him, and to have a common background to work with. I keep telling him he just needs to get out and meet folks.
