Well, the camera system at least. It won't add or detract gameplay, but it will give the player the choice in which how he or she wants to view the game.
-
If what I propose is not a middle ground between what the purists want and what the causal gamer wants, then what is it? It caters to both audiences equally without sacrificing the quality for each side. Alan, again I think you are just being thickheaded for the sake of being thickheaded andreally not wanting to add anything productive to this discussion.

You haven't played Neverwinter Nights have you? A player controlled free roaming camera allows you to zoom in and out, and pick various camera angles. Using a camera hack from NWVault you could toggle the camera angle of NWN for it to be in first person view using the free roaming camera. In the PC version of Morrowind you could toggle between over the shoulder and first person view. Simply put in that function in but instead of a fixed over the shoulder view like Morrowind make it a free roaming camera like NWN.

So, when are they going to put up the site again?
-
Hmmm... Yoda bits...
-
Because it also includes real time combat and a first person view with a free roaming camera. CAN WE MAKE A DUH CHECK HERE?!?!

Diablo is a craptastic game.

If you know English then it is clear. I think you guys are just being thickheaded on purpose to poke fun and that is all.

Needs some help...

Well, yeah. It seems the players are getting tired of sci fi. -
You guys are obviously not even reading my posts and only concerned to take jabs at me so I am leaving this discussion altogether. I have stated my position very clearly but all you guys seem to care about is to throw insults. I wash my hands of this.

I guess I do have to explain everything to you. And people wonder why I have such a low opinion of the human race. It is about options. Fallout 3 needs to have the look, the style, the gameplay of the original Fallout game in order to be worthy of the Fallout name. That means turn based combat, 3/4 view, SPECIAL rules, and blah blah blah. That does not mean it can't have more than that. Such as it can have a real time option that allows players to use against simple opponents or by players who are looking for more action oriented game. Have the game balanced for turn base combat but not hamper the enjoyment of the rough and tumble real time action. It keeps the Fallout purists happy with the TB while bringing in the real time combatters who are looking for big explosions and heavy weapons fire that require split second reflexes to survive the action. If you followed the progress reports on the old BIS forums Van Buren's combat was going to be like this. It keeps the game Fallout while at the same time gives the options to play it differently if you desired to. Does that make things any clearer? I hope it does because I can't get any clearer than that. As for the camera angle thingie, I said many times that a player controlled camera as in NWN would be the best way to do it and in no way contradicts the way the camera is like in the original Fallout game because you can get the 3/4 angle view if you so wish it. Again I ask how is what I am saying so hard to understand or contradictory?
-
I had a friend in high school that did that crap, but his was with knives.
-
Its not a contradiction if you read what I am saying and use your head.

Also keep in mind the style in which Bethesda makes their games. I doubt they are going to change it just for Fallout. Their style is good for Single player MMORPG sand box styled games like the TES games are but not for the style of Fallout. Sure the game will be updated using today's tech but it also needs to be recongizable as Fallout. Last thing we need is another game that is Fallout in name only like FOPOS and FO: Craptics.

That is a completely different ball of wax. KotOR 2 uses the same base game engine, same rules system, and has the same style of representation in its graphics. The same can be said about NWN 2 to NWN 1. This is far far far far far far far far different situation in Fallout 3. If you expecting Fallout 3 to have the same base engine as Fallout 2 like KotOR 2 does with KotOR 1 then you are sadly mistaken.
-
Man, do I have to explain everything to you or can you use your noggin beyond a rat rack for once?
-
Stay on topic here. We are discussing Bethesda and not Bioware.

Hey, I think Gabs is a great person and I love to have her around, but she is far more inflexible on the issue of Fallout 3 than I am. I just don't want to see Oblvion with Guns while at the same time I am most certainly not expecting a carbon copy of Fallout 1. I am looking for a healthy middle ground between the two.

SW game centered on Bastila?

How about the people who enjoyed killing both of them. Man, I really wished that was an option. -
What are you playing now....
6 Foot Invisible Rabbit replied to Darque's topic in Computer and Console
A friend of mine got $50 in store credit for the PS1 version of X Com: UFO Defense. -
Agreed.
-
Darque, I am not inflexible. Gabs is inflexible, I am not. What I want to see is a Fallout 3 that uses SPECIAL in full (with some necessary tweaking so that it runs smoother) that is equally done well for real time and turn based combat. I want both combat styles. Real time would be great for the easy combats but for major boss fights strategy may require the player to go in turn base mode. As for the camera angles I want to see it be player controlled as in NWN so that one can have their 3/4 view or zoom in to First Person view (playing NWN in FPV was weird though).
-
I am not going to go into that old argument again. That is all well and good for you, Darque, but for me Fallout is more that just setting and story. Nothing in the world is going to change my opinion. Fallout is the culmination of Setting, Story, Rules System, Graphical and Musical styles, and so forth. What makes Fallout Fallout is sum of its parts, and it must be taken as a whole or not at all. Now I am not expecting Fallout 3 to be a carbon copy of Fallout 1 but I most certainly do not want to total revamping of the game. Might as well play FOPOS then if you want something like that.

An alternative way to start KOTOR3

Bah, I decided to do a Arcana Evolved campaign instead. No need to worry about space travel.
