Close senate race still. Democrats need Virginia and Montana to win. Election Results thus far! Webb a democrat from Virginia declares he won but its still not over, hes winning by about 8 thousand votes so far w/ 99% of the precinct giving votes now. In montana democrats are winning the senate with Tester also with 99% of the Precinct in. But hes only winning by about 3,000 votes. So its close, but Optimistic for dems.

Good Point ~Di But i would also like to emphaisize on how ill advised our populous is, especially when i see bumper stickers that say "Union Workers for Bush". Being the information age, whoever has it will be making the most informed votes right? Heres a pic, the circles represent the most Wired cities in the US and the political view of each state in how they voted for 2004. Make what you want out of it.

Or maybe stories like the Tower of Babel was just inspired by the fall of the famous temple-tower of Etemenanki, later restored by King Nabopolassar and his son Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylonia.

Woah! Your logic (or lack thereof) blows me out of the water! Everything Jesus did he did for a reason. You'll also notice in the Bible (if you've even picked one up) that he does in fact say that he and God are the same person. You'll notice that Jesus went to the Synagogues on the Sabbath day as well. Bottom line is, he did everything to set an example and to teach humans how to live, even right down to his death. As for the whole crucifixion thing, it's a very deep concept that can't be explained easily. But it involves God taking sin onto himself, lowering himself so that he could get close to humans and vice-versa, to take the punishment for himself so that we wouldn't have to. Watch Chronicles of Narnia sometime. " Or try researching it for yourself, if you can be bothered to do so. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I went to a christian private school, church 3 times a week and the rest of the sacrificial rituals like communion. i know my stuff.

It's not polytheistic. In Hinduism, there are gods that are distinctly separate entities. That does make it polytheistic. In Christianity, it's one God with one soul who supposedly manifests in 3 different forms. That does not make it polytheistic. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes but everything in hindu is made of that which cannot be described, It just is. So the hindu gods do have this in common. Also why does jesus talk to himself on the hill the day before he gets crucified? Why would he also sacrifice himself to himself? So the Christian god at the very least has multiple schizophrenic personality.

Woah, I'm just getting that Meta. So it takes non intelligence to be altruistic, because if one is conscious then they would be able to automatically tap into their feelings, right?
-
If altruism goes by this definition then i would have to say there is no altruism personally -

Thats sounds fine and dandy to keep ones viewpoint to himself but is it really possible living in todays societies? I don't think it is, we need to talk these things out, and find the best reasons to believe whatever makes sense. reason should be contagious, and by taking the tabooness out of religion, humanity might eventually break free from the bonds its made for itself. Not entirely, but enough for those who dont follow religion to have their rights, and still live in acccordance to law.

I believe we just have a natural capacity for empathy that has helped human kind survive and work in groups. That paired with basic real world experiences automatically gives a negative aura about death tot he human psyche. There is no proof of this other realm that the Platonist or Christians believe, the fact of the matter is, they have to deal with this life, how they do it is up to them. Its not a moral issue I believe, its an intellectual issue because it should be based on reason not so called universal truths or absolutes.

So... you're an intuitionist? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Here are two types of branches in philosophy to gain knowledge Empiricist 1. philosophy philosophical belief regarding sense-derived knowledge: the philosophical belief that all knowledge is derived from the experience of the senses 2. application of observation and experiment: the application of observation and experiment, rather than theory, in determining something rationalist 1. the belief that thought and action should be governed by reason 2. reason as source of truth: the belief that reason and logic are the primary sources of knowledge and truth and should be relied on in searching for and testing the truth of things Empiricists We believe we are born with an empty slate, the best way to gain knowledge is to experience it through our 5 senses. An example of empiricists are scientists, since science is based on our senses, observance and experiment. Its simply statistics collected from what we sense. Rationalists believe that knowledge is best acquired though the mind apriori. Some believe that they are born with a full slate of knowledge: knowing everything before hand, which explains why theists don't rely on their 5 senses for truth, and that is their rationalization for god; they innately know god. Krooki seems to be the later.
