  1. I think OP should release an unwatermarked and correctly cropped version of each of the portraits. Not because I personally feel entitled to them, but because other random jackasses will inevitably edit the released files and upload new portraits themselves (even if not on this forum). I'm no artist, but I'm confident these versions won't fit OP's vision of her work. They may even be significantly worse if someone messes up with the files.

Now because she already uploaded a lightly watermarked version, she can't protect her work by more prohibitive watermarking. That ship has sailed, and grubby little fingers are all over the images. So now, I think the best option to effectively protect her work is to provide cropped and unwatermarked images herself. This would mean that the highest quality version (ie the version people are gonna use) is hers, not some anon's.

I think this is a pretty good view of the situation, but like I said, I'm no artist. I'm barely even invested in this particular fight since I don't really dig godlikes, aumaua, or orlan.

This is such a flawed logic.

"smartphones should be given away by the manufacturer for free because some jackasses are going to pickpocket them and sell them on the black market anyway"

Wespenfresser wants to see her name associated with her work when people are going to google for portraits. That's entirely fine by me. Even though personally I find watermarks intrusive, and take away from the aesthetic value of the work.

But this is a philosophical debate and IMO the OP should never have had to justify herself here.

  2. Since this penalty acts as an actual multiplier to your recovery time total, rather than being additive like most other boni and mali are, you are exponentially more penalized the slower your total recovery time is.

It's a good change imho that gives an incentive to build actual nimble characters as mobile fighters, ie someone equipped with leather and daggers vs someone equipped with a two handed sword and plate.

I'm not sure 'exponential' is the word you were looking for... ;)

  3. "Would you rather see the game translated in your language, or get one more content in the game?"

    /snip

I strongly disagree with this. Personally, I have a decent knowledge of english, which is more than enough for 99% of the games on the market. However, PoE happens to fall in that 1%.

In my opinion, heavily text-based RPGs with lot of unusual terms need to be translated (and translated well!), in order for them to be appreciated to the fullest. I can't really immerge in the story nor feel the atmosphere of the game if I have to tab out and check WordReference every 10 mins. Or I could pretend the dictionary was my grimoire, but still...

Maybe after the first playthrough in my language, I will consider playing the game in english, just to see if something got "lost in translation", but I'm grateful for the Italian option: it is much more important for me than any extra content.

Also, I don't know how Obsidian manages its funds, but honestly "money for translation reducing gameplay features" would be a VERY strange business model. The two things shouldn't even be related.

I think many people use that example just for the sake of the argument, but I could be wrong, of course.

Well the way I see it is, PoE got $4m from KS, so it's a fixed budget. I'd rather have them spend it on content.

I guess they have considered the pros (more money for other things) and cons (losing angry customers such as Mazisky) of allocating more or less money to localisation.

  4.

Mazisky, would you say your primary objection is practical, or a question of principle?

Principle of course. I can understand english written text pretty well but i don't wanna promote a developer who deliberately ignores me as a customer only for his convenience, expecially when other devs don't, even low-budget\indie ones.

It's a matter of customers care

Here's where you have it wrong. Translation need to be budgeted.

    And personally, to the question:

"Would you rather see the game translated in your language, or get one more content in the game?"

... as much as I like my language, I'd take the latter without blinking.

  5. They translated Returns and i bought it.

    They won't translate both Dragonfall and Honk Kong and i won't buy them;

I'm sorry but i can't promote a developer who decide, in 2015, to not translate a game in main languages when other minor and less-budget developers do.

Nobody should promote that crap behaviour.

It's funny, even though PoE will be available in French (it will, right?), I have never even considered playing PoE in any other language than English.

Why would you take the chance of missing any subtleties in the original script, and favour an interpretation of it instead? :)

This one needs revisions based on its implementation (sent them to the artist this morning), and currently a collider can't be made for the triangular "adra" decoration, at least not automatically.

So if you want to make your own UI bar, you can replace one of the files in the IE mod UI folder, and the mod should make a collider for you, to eat clicks.

Hopefully they change the combat log texture though. No idea why transparency is implemented on the texture side, rather than it being coded transparent by the game.

Nice! This is EXACTLY what I was hoping for.

I know lots of people a drooling over Grotesque's UI, but I just find it too cluttered and bulky (and if I'm being honest, a bit tacky).

This on the other hand, is simple, elegant and functional.

    Want !

  7. Watching recent videos one thing I wondering, did they completely abandon moving trees/bushes/grassblades etc? It looked so awesome in this video but I haven't really seen it since..

  8. Personally what worries me is your launch date.  Pillars is coming out two days after a much better known, much more anticipated and advertised action RPG in general called Bloodbourne.  Pillar's one advantage is that Bloodbourne happens to be a PS4 exclusive.

Don't take this personally Karkarov but I find these kind of comments really comical.

How many times have we read on these forums that the release date was a terrible choice?

Even before the delay got announced, many a Cassandra out there were complaining that the release was dangerously close to X, Y, or Z. First it was Dragon Age: Inquisition, then the Witcher (before it got delayed), now you're citing Bloodbourne??

If Obsidian were listening to you they would never release the darn game.

Besides, we all know that it's Sony that ought to be afraid or releasing Bloodbourne too close to March 26 ;)

And btw, how the hell is a PS4-exclusive, action-oriented game a direct competitor to PoE? I for one have never even considered playing that game...

  9. I was reading the exhaustive patch notes on the new unity 5.0 release and there's so many great new features in there I'm willing to give them an extra month to release with all the new changes that would just make this go to a whole new level. Lot's of improvements across the board from animations, physics, lighting, shaders, audio mixing, optimization, and tons more.

    Man that's a long list indeed !

  10. I tried Original Sin a while ago but it didn't grab me. The two-PCs seemed wonky and I couldn't get over the cartoony graphics.

    I feel exactly the same.

I actually first heard about D:OS when I was googling for info on PoE (after I'd miss the kickstarter). The reviews got me really excited and I bought it without really giving it much thought. I'm kind of gutted I did though.

  11. " [...] the log is a bit depressed so that the conversation and fight log tabs would not pop out and intrude the view area. also it gives a nice effect of variation by breaking the line and giving a larger view area on the vertical axis in the center of the screen where it counts most.  And considering the log's height is to be player customed, you can bring it at any height you want, pixel by pixel. "

    Gotcha !

Sorry I was a bit lazy to read all the thread.

(still think it would look nicer if all the bottom bar was a single block though :p )
