  1. Yes big thanks to all the bug hunters.

Especially Sensuki, I don't know how you had the patience to do that man. Hopefully you'll still have some energy left to play the full game on release :)

I was hoping to participate much more in the beta, but it turns out my laptop is not fast enough to give me an decent gaming experience. Hopefully I'll be able to afford a new one soon after release !

  2. Why not just make the whole game 3d instead of these "hacks" to apply 3d effects to 2d environments? Was it faster/easier? I thought the whole point was to have heavy paintovers so that the backgrounds would look unique and organic, foregoing detail limits of 3d games.

Because then PoE would look like another D:OS

    :x

I've tried playing that game several times, but the 'cartoony' art keep throwing me off. Again, it's all personal taste, but PoE's graphics are much much more appealing to me.

  3. Although It looks cool but I cant help to think after hearing about dynamic light, which took much of the devolopement time and has little use of gameplay elements.

I tend to agree with this as well.

I'll reserve my final verdict for after I've played the full game, but at the moment I can't help but think the lighting system has been a strategical mistake – given the available resources and development time.

But maybe it turns out to look completely amazeballs, in which case I'll happily admit I was wrong. :)

  4. In PoE's case, yeah, DRM means you'll need constant connection to Steam server. Game's gonna be tied to your account and you'll need to be logged in to play. Steam requires it for most games anyway, with all those offline mode glitches people complain about.

FYI, as far as DRM goes, it's a thing that makes sure you're rightful owner (buyer) of a given software before launching it. Nowadays DRMs in videogames mostly (d)evolved into requiring to be constantly online, which makes people with limited internet connection (yes, they do exist) sad and/or angry. That's why hoooray to GOG! :)

OK then it's a no-brainer for me: go GOG !

  5.

    The patch notes say

Capes no longer clip with armor on the character's model.

No, they no longer do - not even connected to it in fact :p

Sorry? Looks perfectly fine to me:

  6.

In a computer game were you have to move your characters across a map – and by 'across' i mean often upwards or downwards (see most IWD maps for instance), vertical space becomes extremely valuable as well.

I think in the end it's a matter of personal taste. But either way I think I could get used to either options...

Trying to figure out how Facebook lite figures into IWD maps.

Haha I'm so sorry. Copy-Paste fail.

Here's the pic I wanted to link to:

  7.

The whole "Prefer to take away horizontal space because there's more of it!" argument that has been repeatedly brought up on the forums, is based on the fallacious assumption that both dimensions are equally valuable for the actual game world scene. They're not.

  8. Externalizing more files will only do good for the game franchise IMO. As we all know, the Infinity Engine games still have a vibrant modding community 15 years + after release. The larger the modding community is - the more your game will continue to create revenue long after it's release.

Just bumping this thread because of this. I agree 100%.

I don't know how to mod myself, but if I like the full game I'm seriously considering getting into it.

  9. Thanks for the reply Adam. Good to know it's all fixable before release!

Character models looked much better in the outdoors indeed.

Also in the second screenshot the party is in stealth,

Oops, my bad. I was quickly scrolling over the video to take one of two screens.

    Should I take some more?

    Here you go
