Blasters became more powerful in 4000 years, and the power supply a personal shield like the kind used in the KoTOR era would require to deflect/absorb a blast from an Imperial era blaster, would be...inconvenient for your average SW galaxy humanoid to carry around. It would seem that the Gungans had developed more efficient power supplies for their personal shields, but even those didn't cover their entire bodies. We also see that some of the more powerful kinds of battledroid, can mount a fully functioning personal shield, but it would also seem that they can not move while the shield is active. So it can be surmised that personal shields DO still exist in the Imperial era, but due to the limited protection/mobility that most types can offer(not to mention the cost), they are not commonly used

Yay, I DO have an AGP slot, thankee-sai for the help everyone. Yeah, I'm going to get myself a shiny new GeForce 6600GT. Thank goodness for VOS Computers, without them there wouldn't be a single place inside 50 miles that sold anything higher than my GF4MX (if only Egghead hadn't jumped on 73h 1n74rw3b bandwagon...)...which can't run Psychonauts...so...there goes my desposable income for several months...but it was going to happen eventually so...

OH, waittaminute...my GFX card's advanced tab says it's in an AGP 4x bus...but...my little "My System's Device Manager" says it's in PCI bus 1 So...is one of these incorrect, are they talking about different things...am I crazy?! ...or just so lazy that I haven't cracked my box open yet to have a look inside? I wish that game would've let me be a humble trader, and not thrown hordes of super powerful (compared to the freighters in that game) pirates, ALL equipped with cruise disrupters so that I couldn't out run them. It would've been nice if the space stations in the game (especially the supposedly heavily protected military installations) weren't CONSTANTLY under attack as well.

EEEEEWWW NO!!! It's Star Wars/Trek for me(among other things like Thundercats and Transformers...). And I wasn't saying that nerds *can't* make fun of other nerds, just that I find those who do not accept their own dorkieness and *still* make fun of other nerdy people much worse than anything on the list (though Harry Potter slash-fic writers *are* pretty bad).

I think that nerds who can't acknowledge their own geekdom, and instead of reveling in their Dork Side powers, sit around and make fun of all the other nerds, are faaaaaaaaaaar worse than any HP slash-fic writer/furry addict/uber Trekkie/Warsie. Not to say that any of *you* guys are doing that "
