  1. Identity Crisis...was that the Dr. Light bit? Haven't actively read anything in a couple of years. I read about the return of Kara. That, Batwoman, Superman's origin being changed again, and numerous other things are all bullcrap that should not exist anymore. DC is undoing the entire Crisis, and doing it poorly, House of M-style. All it will really do is discourage new readers from learning about the DCU, which was the state of the DCU before "Crisis on Infinite Earths". It really ticks me off (for the record, I was against "The Kingdom"; "Kingdom Come" should have just stayed a prestige-format Elseworlds tale).
  2. Sweet! Maybe we can all hook up for some villain smiting. I'm playing a MA/SR scrapper named Night-Fall (mostly; I have a couple other characters, too), while my wife is playing a Mental Domination/Weather Control controller named Escalla. She's actually a level higher than me, and is level 10.
  3. I thought Boomerang would never walk again after what Walter "Dark Flash" West did to him? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> nope he's still around... well... he got killed at the same time as robins dad... then his son became capt. boomerang... but with superspeed <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What? Geez, DC needs to have a real Crisis, not this faux Infinite Crisis crap. That kind of stuff is almost as bad as the X-Men (616 variety).
  4. Eh, that's somewhat my fault. I generally only have time to read the forum during lunch, and may have missed your point. However, I do (in principle) get irritated at all of the PC-is-the-greatest chest-thumping that goes on; PCs have their weaknesses compared to consoles, just as they have their strengths.
  5. which server? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Pinnacle.
  6. Heh, currently the only console that I have is the X-Box, and no games for it (I tend to rent most console games that I play). I play primarily on my PC for the moment (that may change). Won't affect me too much, anyway, as my gaming hours are decreasing and decreasing (still haven't beaten Oblivion, and I've had it since release).
  7. No, but you're guaranteed that they'll play. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nope. God of War, Final battle with Ares. My killing blow resulted in the game "crashing". Everything was moving, sound was playing but I couldn't hurt Ares anymore and the cutscene didn't start. I had to reload from the last checkpoint and rebattle it out. That's God of War I'm talking about here... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't know that game. PS2? Anyway, how many console games have you played over the years? How often have you had that problem?
  8. To the original topic... City of Heroes, with my wife, after the kids go to bed. Loving it.
  9. You forgot NIN. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good to see my previous post was completely ignored... <_< <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oops, sorry. At lunch right now, and trying to cram in as much info and debating as I can. My apologies (and good catch).
  10. You misread. My PS2 was malfunctioning, not the game (turns out Sony didn't use robust DVD players in the first generation of PS2, as they didn't expect people to use the PS2 as a DVD-player, despite that being an advertised feature of the system).
  11. What PC game isn't overwhelmingly buggy nowadays? "Publish, then patch" is SOP in PC gaming now.
  12. Not really. Quality of the gaming experience should include such factors as work needed to play game, ability to play game at the advertised level (witness the anger over Oblivion's graphics, for example, when players found out that at the lower graphics settings the game was flat-out ugly), reliability (should not experience crashes or memory-leaks), and code as free from bugs as possible (MoO, VtM: Masquerade, numerous others were bug-filled crap-fests), amongst others. When these factors are included (and, keep in mind, many of the factors that I listed above are independent of the PC the game is played on, and are, in fact, on the developers'/publishers' end of the deal), PC gaming's quality is reduced significantly.
  13. No, but you're guaranteed that they'll play. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Unless they don't. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Don't what? Play on consoles? In my 24 years of gaming, I've had two games not play on my various consoles: the first was due to a defective disk, the second was due to my PS2's DVD player being worn out (a year after I got it, too). That's a high rate of success, so "Unless they don't" is statistically insignificant.
  14. You forgot NIN.
  15. No, but you're guaranteed that they'll play.
  16. Ah, but will it play it well? That's the question, isn't it? My home PC is good (maybe not the best, but better than most mentioned in this thread), and it doesn't run some games well despite exceeding recommended system specs. Optimization is a problem in PC game design.
  17. I thought Boomerang would never walk again after what Walter "Dark Flash" West did to him?
  18. Just as some consumers look for better long-term value, some are happy to pay a premium for higher quality. ^_^ <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Both of those arguments, though, ignore the true issue in the console vs PC debate, which is compatability (with performance included). If I buy an X-Box game, I'm virtually guaranteed (barring disk defect or hardware problem) that it will play in my X-Box. For PC games, however, I have to make sure that I have a compatible video card, enough RAM (and companies are often deceptive in how much RAM is needed), new or special video drivers, a fast enough processor, and may have to exit the game regularly in order to avoid memory leaks. These are all headaches avoided by consoles.
  19. I'm surprised that they're that low.
  20. And Cerebus. That would rock.
  21. Blue Beetle II. He was a laugh-riot. Smart, witty, and, when he wasn't in one of his fat phases, an Olympic-class athlete. Now, I do prefer the modern JLA to the various Geffen Justice Leagues of the 80s, but I still enjoyed reading Blue & Gold and the rest of the gangs. I guess now, with Max and Ted gone, there won't be any place for a funny supergroup in the DCU.
  22. You will be missed.
  23. Yeah, I tried that, but the registry key was still there. I ended up having to use Sony's tool (which requires an upgrade before one can uninstall) to get rid of it. Really, the big thing is trying to find the EXEs so that I can make sure that ZenWorks blocks it. We use a lot of multimedia here, so it is a concern.
  24. Dunno. I have a free membership.
