I read the in game tutorial and it says perception is used to detect traps while mechanics is used to disarm them.

Does this mean that we don't need to be in stealth mode to detect traps(and hidden items) any more, only need high perception?

    Yeah, this is a great QoL change. Always moving at half speed to ensure I spotted traps was annoying. Although I can tell it's going to be really frustrating if I ever go back and play poE1 again....
