Question

Posted

Hi all,

I'm having some trouble importing my PoE save game into Deadfire... When I go to choose the import option in-game, it says no save files found, even though I checked and I haven't moved my gamecomplete.savegame file from the folder it was originally in. Just for reference, I'm on a Mac and trying to import a save from a game bought on the App Store into Steam. Not sure if any of that could be causing problems.

Hey Hassat Hunter,

As soon as you go through Prologue, you will be prompted for your PoE 1 save from the Pallid Knight.

Let me know if this answers your question.

Thanks!

Hey brmacgregor,

Sorry to hear you cant find this on Mac, I believe that it may be an issue with the filepath and nothing you've done wrong on your end, is there any way you can get me the save path for PoE1?

Thanks!

Same problem here. Game is on stream so is my copy of Pillars 1. I even tried putting save file into Pillar 2 save folder and it still "No save file found" in import screen.

Thanks Cdiaz, you were right... I experimented with putting the saved game file in the exact same folder as the POE2 saved games, and that did the trick!

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Looked under "PoE 1 History" and found nothing and with that option gone after the intro... didn't continue far enough to get a prompt.

EDIT: Worked. Though kinda annoying I had to do it twice getting the non-standard ending.

Yes you need 2 copy it onto PoE 2 save folder. Also mb restart your PC cause it didn't work for me before i restarted.
Also were is still Eder and Vella bugs if you import save file so prob should wait till 1st patch anyway. Next week i suppose.

This is sad. Literally ruined my plans for 2 days. Last time i preorder something from this team or  try to play on 1st day

I install Steam games onto a separate drive from C:\, but C:\ is where your saved game files are located.

I took the suggestion of another and copied the files into the PE2 saved files folder, which is also on C:\

The game when I get to the point to import my history, it says "No Saved Files Found."

I can't put these on the drive where the game is saved.  The game simply isn't seeing the files.

Hello all, I copied all of my saves from PoE 1 into the Save folder for PoE 2. I go through the startup and sit in the chair and talk to the Goddess. When I click on Import PoE 1 file, I get 'No files Found'. Is the import borken now?

Hey 3dartwork,

Are you making sure the savegame complete file is in the correct location for the PoE saves? Can you send me the file you are trying to copy over to verify?

Thanks!

Hey Mereinid,

Did you make sure to copy the savegame complete file? That's what the Importer is looking for. If you could send me the save you're trying to use I can help try to assess what is going on, as well as the path youre trying to save it all to.

Thanks!

Steam saves PE1 saved games in C:\Users\username\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity

It made several .savegame files, an autosave being the most recent but the one before it I believe was my last save at the end of PE1

However, there are 2 folders as well named 1.05 and 2.0 Save Games Backup that I'm not sure what those are for.

I tried attaching the .savegame file but this site says it was too big at being 5 MB in size.  Max size apparently is 507 KB

My reply is needing moderator approval, I am guessing because I tried attaching the savegame file.

But while I wait for that, the filepath Steam saves games for PE1 and 2 is C:\Users\name\Saved Games\Pillars of Eternity.

I even went so far as to delete all the savegame files in PE1 except the last file I saved.  Even though the autosave was technically saved later.  And it still won't find it.

I'm having the same issue. POE2 will not import any POE1 save file. Both my POE1 and POE2 are Mac App Store purchases. POE1 does have White March I and II.

Running Mac OS X 10.13.4 and I have no knowledge on how to physically locate the save files themselves from POE1 in order to move them.

Thanks!

Hi Cdiaz,

I'm also having the same issue. My copy of PoE1 was purchased from the Mac App Store but my copy of PoE2 was a steam purchase. When I go to import my save file from the first game, it says "no save files found". I found my savgegame complete file and copied it into my PoE2 saves folder and then restarted my computer as was suggested by someone here, but to no avail. The file paths in question are below. Thanks for your help!

PoE1 Save Original File Path: ~/Library/Containers/com.mpdigital.poecomplete/Data/Library/Application Support/Pillars of Eternity/Saved Games

PoE2 Save File Path where I copied my savegame complete file: ~/Library/Application Support/Pillars of Eternity II/Saved Games

File Name of the savegame complete file I copied over: 3e187011-9ccd-4ad4-b51a-a4f6773d7bcc gamecomplete.savegame

Hopefully this is enough information for you to tell me what I'm missing, but let me know if you need any other info. Thanks again!

I haven't gotten a clear answer on this since yesterday.

I'm trying to play my POE character and I have the saved file .gamecomplete in the deadfire saved games folder and it does not show that its there when I talk to the palid knight.

Anyone have any idea how this works or what I could do to fix it?

Hello badfox,

Have you tried saving it to the PoE1 saved games folder as well? Can you provide the gamecomplete.savegame you have in question so we can look into the matter?

Thanks,

-Caleb

Have you managed to find a solution?

I'm in the exactly same situation, tried everything, yet can't make the game see the PoE1 saves (completed WM). My PoE1 wasn't bought on Steam but my PoE2 was - but I doubt it should matter here; the folder structure is right there. I don't want to start the game without my old progress - help! :'(

Hello all,

You may be saving it to the incorrect location if you are saving it to PoE 1 folder. Please ensure that the folder you are trying to save it to is the Pillars 2 save folder created when installing the game.

Best,

-Caleb

Bump.

Still hoping to find an answer to this question since I’d really like to be able to import my save and start playing as soon as the hotfix/patch comes out next week. Cdiaz or any mods/devs, or anyone who’s managed to find a solution to this problem: any suggestions?

Thanks for a reply. I've put the saves in BOTH PoE1 and 2 to begin with - to no avail :(
