Is Amaia´s Codex correct?

I got the item via a stronghold adventure. It is labeled as pet and I can equip it in the pet slot.

All other pets are creatures that follow me on the map. This is just an item that gives me some charges of some spells.

 

I think it would be better to make this an item for the quick slot.

I expect a pet to be a creature who follows me on the map.

I imagine it's a pet as that lets you use it in addition to quick slot items, giving it more value and making it more distinctive as an item.  It would be cool to have a little pet book flying around with you though, like Grimoire Weiss in Nier.

How do you get that??? That looks like a useful pet to have... at least until concelhaut is dead! Is there anyway to trigger that quest? I have played about 200 hours and have never seen that, is it new with the deadfire pack?

Stronghold quest reward I believe, so a bit of luck is needed to get it.
