I have an update pending since 10/16 for 1.1.4.2 but haven't seen a word on it on the forums. Is this a real update?

Yeah, a silent update.  The "I think we fixed Justice Ironbirar" release.

  2. Tap Permissions → Notifications.
  3. Adjust your preference.
Chrome (Desktop)
  1. Click the padlock icon in the address bar.
  2. Select Site settings.
  3. Find Notifications and adjust your preference.
