How can I see the details of active debuffs in combat?

This is one thing that has been driving me crazy. I can hover over the character portraits and see a list of debuffs, like "body attunement" when fighting Vithrack, but I can't then hover over or click on those debuffs to pull up a description of them and what they do.

 

Is there a way to do that which I am simply missing?

Yes but can you search for a term, Overbearing for example, in it?

I have found that if you hover over the icons to the right of the character portrait you will get a truncated description of the various buffs and debuffs that can affect your character. There does not seem to be a way to pull up a full description like you might for a spell or ability. It's good enough for me.
