Relvor
Hi, I'm planning to use an entire custom made party of BG companions for my next playthrough. I want to use more or less the attributes from BG2 for my characters, except i'm going to lower CON a bit for some (thanks to 2nd edition they pretty much all had 16+). I narrowed the choice down to playable characters in both games. Difficulty will be normal, but in Trial of Iron mode. This is what I'm currently planning: 1) Minsc Human Ranger high STR, DEX, CON very low INT Companion: Boo the Ham.. I mean Lion? Weapon: 2-handed Sword Question: Is a melee Ranger at least a semi decent choice or dead weight? Which animal companion should he choose? Is there one which can go for the eyes (blinding strike?)? Outlander Frenzy will be fun (and probably a waste thanks to INT) 2)Jaheira Wood Elf Druid high DEX, INT average everything else Weapon: Sabre, Shield / Quarterstaff Planned as shapeshifter which can survive a few seconds on front row if necessary, or stand back and cast spells. 3) Imoen (oh dear) Human Rogue HIgh DEX, INT, PEr low STR, RES Weapon: Bow A no brainer for class choice. Might try a variation of the Rogue Hornet build from Boeroer with lots of dots. She can go for the eyes if Boo should fail. Thanks to high INT I might pick a few cross class talents like the charm spell, the summons and so on. Which would be sort of canon, since she was dual classed in bg 2. 4) Viconia Pale Elf Priest (OT: why are drow dark skinned? shouldnt they be pale if living underground?) high DEX INT RES low STR CON Weapon: 1h blunt, shield Also an easy choice. She gets all the spider and beetle summon figurines. Which god resembles Lolth or Shar the most? Woedica? Skaen? 5) Edwin Human Wizard (duh) high INT, PER, MIG low-average DEX Weapon: Implement / Staff Cast spells less frequent, but with more oomph. Might even try the melee wizard spells this time. Anyone still reading? I'm not sure about the last spot. Since i dislike the "canon" Abdel Adrien, i was thinking about picking Sarevok. He was in both games, and it would be fun to play him as the Watcher. As cruel fighter? A bleakwalker Paladin for strong hits? What would be more fitting? He would most of the time choose cruel or aggressive dialog options. What do you think about my choices? Any feedback or suggestions are welcome. Style and role play is more important than stat optimization for this one.
omgFIREBALLS
Style and role play is more important than stat optimization for this one. You're going to roleplay having Minsc and Edwin in the same group? Shall we conjure up a replacement for one of them? If you're willing to use EE characters you could take Neera instead. Fits the criteria of being in both games. Or you could give up that requirement and take Nalia, and imagine her vivid approval of any [benevolent] response. Unfeasible idea, but it sprang to mind: A party of six fighters. Everyone takes the fearless talent, except the one called Khalid Edited April 24, 2016 by omgFIREBALLS My Deadfire mods Out With The Good: The mod for tidying up your Deadfire combat tooltip. icendoan
It's quite hard to replicate a Wild Mage in Pillars, though, so Neera would have to just be a straight up Wizard. Minsc is clearly a Barbarian, not a Ranger (in line with the now abandoned trope of casting savage Fighters as Rangers in AD&D), so making him a Barbarian, with proper Frenzy, seems more fitting. There's Tiax, a Priest of Skaen (which also fits with his real class, Cleric/Thief), who is (nominally) in both games. Garrick, a flimsy Chanter with low Intellect would be quite fun, as well. As for the PC, Sarevok does sound like a fun idea. Either the BW Paladin could be good, with very high Might and Resolve, and decent Intellect, or just a straight up Fighter. That is what he is in BG1/2 anyway, and it fits his role of being an offensive damage dealer.

I had to use the domination spell on minsc to "calm" him. Edited April 24, 2016 by Relvor
Blades of Vanatar
Choose barbarian for Minsc. Boo was a pet not an Animal Companion. Use the Giant Space Pig as your pet option. 2-Hand sword wielding Fighter Sarevok would be a beastly addition. No matter which fork in the road you take I am certain adventure awaits. Psychevore
Imoen should be a Cipher, that corresponds better with the Rogue/Mage dual class (or was it multiclass?) edit: Drow would only have to be pale if they were white humans living underground their blackness has nothing to do with a tan getting extremely outta hand Edited April 24, 2016 by Psychevore
SkaenTemple
It's not possible to make character a Woedica's priest... IMO the closest analog of Shar is Wael.
