I noticed how neat camping is with the choose your own bonus when you pick up survival so it made me wonder why resting at the stronghold wasn't like that?

u get the bonuses when u use a camping supply to rest. Inns and strongholds supply their own different bonus. So don't think of survival as bonuses when resting, think of it as gaining bonuses to rest when using camping supplies.

i always looked at the inns and strkngholds have their own bonus. the group sleeping at the inn is getting the inns bonus. each inn has its own amenaties etc that the whole group shares so they all recieve the same bonus.

 

survival is the individual characters skill. when the group uses supplies to camp, the individual is using his own survival education etc to rest and prepare.

No, they all share the same bed, so they get the same bonuses.  Think of it as PoE's interpretation of in game romance.
