Runtime error - can't launch game.

Hi there, as the heading states,  I cannot start Pillars. The game has been fine uptill the latest patch from GOG. (GOG id: patch_pillars_of_eternity_2.5.0.11). I have also tried to install the White March Patch which is paired with the above patch, but it seems to make no difference.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game. It runs perfectly untill I install the patch, then I get a runtime error - see attached png. I have also updated my video card drivers and Windows.

I have downloaded the patch several times, in case it was corrupted - also to no avail.

 

Just to confirm - the 2 patches are:

patch_pillars_of_eternity_2.5.0.11

patch_pillars_of_eternity_the_white_march_part_1_2.1.0.11

Both from GOG. Not sure if the white march patch is a problem - I install the standard patch first - and that's the one that breaks the game.

If you have downloaded the base game, Pillars parts 1-3 and TWM parts 1 and 2, then there is no need to download the patches. The game should already be  at 2.02. Those patches are for 2.01 - 2.02.

Ok thanks for the response. Normally if I try and install a patch which is already installed I get a message. With these patches, nothing.

Just to confirm, my game version is sitting at V2.00.0706 PX1. Is this the latest version?

We are currently at v2.02.0749 PX1. Downloading the current files on GOG will make your game the correct version. Unfortunately GOG doesn't have a 2.00 patcher to 2.01, so you will have to do uninstall your game and install 2.02. 

 

If you wish, you can download the GoG Galaxy Client and it will install and update the game for you automatically.
