bartlebooth Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Has anyone tried a barbarian 2h crit/control build in 2.0? I'm thinking using The Hours of St. Rumbalt / Tall Grass, maxing Perception and Dex, maybe 15 INT and the rest split. Main abilities being Brute Force and Threatening Presence. You'd ideally use hearth orlan, but my character is fire godlike so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Boeroer Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 That will work. Even on PotD in 1.06 with Tall Grass my barbarian knocks enemies prone all the time. But don't waste two talent points on Brute Force + Threatening Presence as long as you have another party member that can apply the weakened affliction in an aoe (e.g. a priest with Painful Interdiction). Most foes have way higher fortitude than deflection and minus 20 will not be enough - let alone the fact that Threatening Presence can miss. If you stack weakened and sickened it's working like a charm though - especially on large mobs of relatively weak enemies. Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
Raven Darkholme Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Crits for barb won't happen regularly before 2.0, but with better perception ofc it will be viable. My twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/victorcreed_twitch My youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/VictorCreedGaming
limaxophobiacq Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Combined with the benefit of AoE interrupts and compensating for the accuracy penalty on carnage attacks, max Perception for crits on a barbarian is certainly worth it.
Boeroer Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Gauntlets of acc +5 and Inspiring Radiance plis blessig or the paladin's aura help to produce crits. Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
bartlebooth Posted August 18, 2015 Author Posted August 18, 2015 Thanks guys, will give it a go, maybe with mig 16, con 7, dex 14, per 18, int 16, res 7. Have Pallegina specced for crits, so should help. Interesting point on Brute Force + Threatening Presence. I had kind of thought (mainly from bestiary entries in game) that mobs with high Fortitude tended to be meatshields while those with higher Deflection were the ones capable of doing serious damage if not put down quickly (looking at you, Shades). Am I totally off base with this? I haven't been stacking weakened + sickened since I'm not using a party member that can apply it, though Aloth will be able to next level I think.
Boeroer Posted August 19, 2015 Posted August 19, 2015 Yeah... then don't buy these talents. It's a lot of fiddling to make them work effectively and even then it's not superpowerful. You can achieve the same thing with spells that lower deflection and don't have to spend two talents. Deadfire Community Patch: Nexus Mods
