Oh wow, good coincidence as I have been trying to remember what game I used to play by a family friend. All I remember of it was that the boss was some robot bug like thing and the ending screen was with a dude and a girl watching a sunset. Turns out it was Crime Wave.

Crime Wave is actually the game that led me to Mean Streets, the first of the Tex Murphy games.  Kind of an odd pairing, but they had a bunch of similarities in terms of box art and cut scenes.
