0 El Zoido Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 How did you start it? Starting in a terminal often can give you some fist hint at what's going wrong (e.g. missing dependencies).
0 unhandyandy Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 I have the same problem. No error messages, but the game fails to do anything. 0 Xaratas Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 Try to start PoE from the game directory directly, without the start.sh wrapper. Its not needed and hides some error prints. More modding for PoE II | How to Work with Stringtables

0 Sking Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Hey Crackerjack, Right click your executable (.exe), select Properties > Permissions, then make sure the box next to Execute is checked. If this does not help, then attach your system info and hopefully we can figure out the problem.
0 unhandyandy Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Crackerjack started this thread 2 months ago and hasn't been heard from since, so assume you're talking to me? I have the same problem he had. 0 Sking Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Can you attach your DxDiag. Is a output.log (Player.log) being populated after your game fails to respond?
0 unhandyandy Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 I don't think the game is even properly starting. Where would the output.log be? As for the DxDiag, would that be inside my wine installation? Is it possible my wine env variables aren't set properly?
0 Xaratas Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 (edited) Um, Sking, sorry, but there is no DxDiag on Linux as there is no Direct X. Maybe you want something like 'glxgears -info'? @unhandyandy does the last lines of 'dmesg' list something related to PoE after a crash? 0 unhandyandy Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 No relevant messages from dmesg. But. For some unfathomable reason it just started working. I don't believe I changed anything since yesterday. Go figure. Is it possible that I had a steam process running in the bg that was interfering?
0 Sking Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Linux Location: ~/.config/unity3d/Obsidian Entertainment/Pillars of Eternity/Player.log There is a DxDiag equivalent in Linux. Type: sudo lshw -html > ~/hardwarespecs.html in the Terminal, it will out put your specs to the home folder. Send that file to me.
0 pillarsofbugs Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Could be steam indeed - starting without wrapper and steam worked fine for me on latest ubuntu. Still unplayable due to game-breaking bugs unfixed but that's a different story.
0 rebepoi Posted December 12, 2018 Posted December 12, 2018 This work'd for my steam PoE: Exit all GTK+ software (I had Private Internet Access running on background, even if disconnected it for some reason effected game start) source: https://www.gog.com/forum/pillars_of_eternity_series/wont_launch_on_linux_mint_no_errors After I exited software fully game started without any problems.
