I have the same problem.  No error messages, but the game fails to do anything.

Pillars of Eternity$ ./start.sh

dabrowsa@archMax:/mnt/Games/games/Pillars of Eternity$

And that's it, the game doesn't launch.  Same thing if I try running PillarsOfEternity from the game directory.

If any logfiles were generated, where would they be?

I've got version

declare -r VERSION="1.5.0.7"
declare -r VERSION_DEV="1.0.6-hotfix

according to start.sh.

Hey Crackerjack,

Right click your executable (.exe), select Properties > Permissions, then make sure the box next to Execute is checked. If this does not help, then attach your system info and hopefully we can figure out the problem.

Crackerjack started this thread 2 months ago and hasn't been heard from since, so assume you're talking to me?  I have the same problem he had.

Both start.sh and game/PillarsOFEternity have execute permission.

Here's the GOG system report.  The system requirements on GOG don't mention any software libraries that are needed.

Can you attach your DxDiag.

Is a output.log (Player.log) being populated after your game fails to respond?

I don't think the game is even properly starting.  Where would the output.log be?

As for the DxDiag, would that be inside my wine installation?

Is it possible my wine env variables aren't set properly?

No relevant messages from dmesg.  But.

For some unfathomable reason it just started working.  I don't believe I changed anything since yesterday.  Go figure.

Is it possible that I had a steam process running in the bg that was interfering?

Linux Location: ~/.config/unity3d/Obsidian Entertainment/Pillars of Eternity/Player.log

There is a DxDiag equivalent in Linux. Type: sudo lshw -html > ~/hardwarespecs.html   in the Terminal, it will out put your specs to the home folder. Send that file to me.
