mibeal Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Hello first time posting here, Little background quick I was not a fan of this game at first as it is my first time playing anything like this. I normally am a mmo type person but I love RPG's. So my first bout with this game I didn't get very much past tutorial and was like ok I can't do this whole micro management thing. So I'm giving it another go and I really do like this game and all the reading and what not. I still am not huge on the micro management but am trying to tailor the party to my level of management im comfortable with. Currently my main is a priest, I also have the fighter, chanter, wizard, priest companions and I made a barb adventurer. My question is I'm thinking about replacing the wizard with something that requires a little less involvement mainly because im bad about casting spells and when I do I tend to nuke my whole team lol Given the above information what class would you recommend I fill in for my 6th member that I can keep to minimal management I was thinking maybe cipher or ranger? Thank you for any and all insight,
Raven Darkholme Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Cipher sounds good, since it has less friendly fire and still nice AoE spells. Ranger is a lot of microing the pet, which still will die eventually and destroy your rangers accuracy, lol. Also 2 priests? 1 My twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/victorcreed_twitch My youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/VictorCreedGaming
MadDemiurg Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Cipher needs as much micro as a wizard if not more if played efficiently. You can cut it down to spamming 1-2 buttons if you play sub-optimally, but you still need to spam said 1-2 buttons. Ranger is less intensive, but you do need to micro the pet apart from the ranger himself. I'd say the lowest micro options are ranged rogue and tank fighter/paladin. Tank chanter is pretty low maintenance as well. Given that you seem to want another dps char I'd say rogue. 1

Haha yeah its prob overkill I like the extra heals and that aoe once per encounter that heals end/and does dmg I like that alot. I was considering a ranged rogue. I'm hoping after some more experience that I will get more into the micro management. I'm one of those ppl who actually liked the whole dragon age tactics system because I'm lazy. Ugh now I'm debating dropping 2nd priest for pally maybe thinking off tank role. Edited May 21, 2015 by mibeal
Raven Darkholme Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 If you go pally he's way better for main tank, as fighter is better for off.^^ 1 My twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/victorcreed_twitch My youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/VictorCreedGaming
Evange Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Use the auto pause function liberally. Try enabling all in the auto pause menu and turning off individual items as you get more experience with the gameplay. My top picks for auto pause would be: 1. When enemy is spotted 2. When trap is detected 3. When party member finishes a spell or ability 4. When enemy cast spell or ability 5. Party member low endurance 1
taek Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Cipher is the most micro it the game along with monk. It's worse than Wizard due the single target nature of their spells and beam effects instead of the Wizard's large circular AE and cone AE. I keep a chanter for low micromanagement, but since you already have one the next would be ranger. You don't need to position them, just keep their modals on and , and have them autofire for decent damage. 1
mibeal Posted May 26, 2015 Author Posted May 26, 2015 Just want to take a moment to thank everyone for their feedback. I have since started over and have finally fallen into the micro management don't know how I ever played otherwise. Currently running Fighter, Pally, Chanter, Wizard, Cipher, Priest. I even bumped up to Normal and I think I'm about to go into Hard as I tackle Act 2 about 35% complete. I'm really glad I gave this game more attention I think it's pretty amazing and I think back on some of the epic battles I've had so far including my first dragon kill So for anyone that comes across this and is really hating the whole micro management thing give it time and patience it truly is the way this game is meant to be played I feel.

Razorchain Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Yup was just hitting the 200 hour mark, this playthrough is fast though, just around 30 hours . Think I'll take a break soon and start on the witcher 3. Heard that game was out
