Enchanting question

Hi All!

Question regarding Enchanting.

If I have a Fine pistol (2 anvil 'cost') and want to upgrade it to exceptional (3 anvils), is the anvil cost accumulative, or does it straight override the lower enchantment.

I ask because I would like to upgrade Forgiveness, but if taking Kith Slayer prevents me from also taking Exceptional / Superb, then I've got to think about which I'm going to take.

"exceptional" will remove "fine" .. 4 anvils not 4 + 2 ..

 

Unless on trial of iron you could save your game, enchant to exceptional to check and reload the save in case the anvil cost is too high. Faster than forum post and waiting for answer ..

Not currently in a position to test this at the moment. Wont get home for another 2 hours or so & I was curious.

I'll always measure stuff in 'anvils' now...

- "You want something along with that?"

"Ah, yes, make that two anvils of cake. And don't forget the cream."

 

 

I'm sure the US will love it. Just to alienate the rest of the metric world even more.

Qualities override and replace eachother. Other Enchants do not; you are limited to one.

 

Fun fact: Some enchants count as Qualities that you can't enchant yourself. A notable example is The Disappointer, which can be picked up in the very first area in the game, which has the "Terrible" Quality, which makes it near-useless. This Quality can be replaced with "Fine", "Accurate 1" or similar, netting you a good-ish base gun early in the game.

Wow, I didn't know you can override the "terrible" of the Disappointer with a quality enchantment! That means there actually is a non-cheesy way to get a usable gun early in the game...
