omgFIREBALLS Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 When push comes to shove, my druid isn't going to attack. Same for my priest, and presumably the same if I had a wizard. Are there any weapons that augment their spellcasting? basketofseals Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Not that I've found so far. Just give them a range weapon of any kind. You're gonna encounter mobs you don't really want to waste spell casts on anyway.
Lasci Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Nope. Give them a fast ranged or melee weapon, single-handed so that their accuracy doesn't suffer, and interrupt their auto attacks when you want to cast spells.
omgFIREBALLS Posted April 5, 2015 Author Posted April 5, 2015 Running around with a random onehander will boost their spell accuracy as well? Infares Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Running around with a random onehander will boost their spell accuracy as well? Nah, spells are based on your base accuracy. Thing is, spells generally have accuracy bonuses, so casters have notoriously bad base accuracy, so single-wielding helps compensate for that by quite a bit.
omgFIREBALLS Posted April 5, 2015 Author Posted April 5, 2015 So the accuracy penalty of a shield doesn't apply to spells either then? (I'm all for the lazy/economical mode caster firing squad, but in a difficult battle where I'm not going to tell them to attack, I want to know what should be in their hands) My Deadfire mods: Out With The Good | Waukeen's Berth | Carrying Voice | Nemnok's Congregation Other Deadfire work: Deadfire skill check catalogue Avowed skill calculator

You could go buckler + hatchet for spellcasting and then switch to just a spear when moving in to actually melee, or better yet, a ranged weapon, if you wish. Edited April 5, 2015 by Infares 1
omgFIREBALLS Posted April 5, 2015 Author Posted April 5, 2015 Thanks, this has brought me some clarity. Still, another question about accuracy. If an effect states it increases accuracy, can I safely assume it will increase it for spells as well? The spell that made me wonder is Devotions for the Faithful (priest, 4) which states it increases accuracy, but the buff tooltip says +20 melee +20 ranged. omgFIREBALLS Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 This is pretty bothersome actually. I have no "physical DPS" so all the big weapons I find are quite unexciting and there doesn't seem to be much equipment that helps my casters the tanks sure but not the casters. Yes, it would be nice if there was a staff/orb/something that gave a mild passive boost to spells while equipped (like more accuracy, fasting casting speed, minor damage increase of a certain type). Something to focus your arcane energies with.
