Question

Hey all,

I've been trying for the better part of two days to get this game to work. Full reinstall, check, check driver integrity? Check.

I was originally faced with a "missing .exe" problem, now the game eternally updates and never starts?

I just wants to playyyyyyy

Please attempt to delete all local content and re-download.

If you're still unable to start, right click in your Library, select browse local files, and select the executable and let me know if that starts the game.

There unfortunately isn't a executable now in the file-

I fixed this last time by pressing the "Verify Integrity of Game cache" option

Any ideas?

Sounds like a Steam Issue I faced before. Been awhile since then.

I did this to fix a similar problem.

Uninstall the steam client (You may just need to stop the client and delete the client cache files)

Delete the local game content that is giving you issues (all of it)

Reinstall the steam client

Reinstall the game

I would do a google on steam client corrupted cache, I can't remember the exact steps. Do this before following the above steps.

Best of luck to you. That sounds really frustrating.

Did all that, unfortunately no luck. My code seems to be missing a .exe file...

Not sure what I can do about that

This is going to sound odd, but I can't help but wonder if you have an antivirus program active. I'm wondering because it is the .exe that you are having issues with. If you don't, I'm out of suggestions. This is a tough one.

Anti virus turned off...after verifying the client data...the game is now permiently stuck in Update Paused mode.

The update seemingly downloads but never finishes.

This for the Royal Edition as well! What the hellll

Rather odd behaviour, this usually happens to me when my AntiVirus produces a false positive and quarantine it as soon as it downloads.

I'm not sure if this is possible, but could you try re-installing Steam and PoE in Safe Mode?

The reason for this is to make sure that there isn't any programs that is stalling the install/update process.

You ask for help but ignore someone willing to help you, nice.

I just have no idea what team viewer is, It seems files are missing...

It's just eternally stuck in updating mode in steam, yet when it finishes updating the game doesn't start and it asks me to update again.

There is a small chance that could be not enough. Check if the antivirus is keeping in quarantine some of the games files.

Something quite similar happened to another player: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/68957-steam-disk-read-error/?p=1531103
