sparklecat
I am getting the distinct impression too that if I continue on as I have been, she's going to stop selling to me. While on the one hand I like real consequences to my decisions, I'm not sure that access to a major shop should be one of them, because it's making me act in ways that'll benefit me most mechanically rather than rping, holding off on doing some things my character should've done days ago so I can buy anything I want from people first. Isn't that pretty much the definition of meaningful roleplay, staying true to your character even if leads to a suboptimal outcome in the game? LocoRocker
My rogue wants to get the best badass stuff and is willing to deal with shady characters, travel to distant locations and jump over hoops to get his hands on that sweet gear. So here you go, hunt for loot and better equipment from a roleplay perspective

Sorry, I wasn't very clear - what I'm saying is it's too suboptimal. For the most part I'm roleplaying my character quite happily and not worrying about negative consequences, but I feel like losing access to many special/unique items takes it too far. As far as I can tell, nothing is timed in the game, wander around a bit until you raise enough gold to buy the gear, make sure you pick up and sell EVERYTHING. Hmm, I haven't yet researched if enchanting or crafting an item raises its value beyond what the components would sell for, but that's a though. I'm not sure what you're defining as 'rogue gear.' Traditional games say one thing, this game says everyday clothes, guns, arbalests, pikes or quarterstaves. In which case, you can arm yourself well just taking the starting gear from Durance and/or Kana, and slapping the Fine enchantment on them. To me, rogue gear is light armor (with fairly high recovery speed ), short melee weapons like daggers, stilettos and additional items like cloaks, hoods, boots or gloves with bonuses to stealth, dexterity etc. named items with special properties are preferred, of course. stuff like this or this

From my experience you can lock yourself out of quests for other factions if you go too hard with one of the 3, but the quest to unlock shop/use shop in every one of them is separate. So your bad standing with Totally not Guild of Thieves / Brotherhood of Steel / Dozens of Failed DnD parties doesn't affect access to their shops.
